RF (SC) French Toast
submitted over 8 years ago by PerennialPhilosopher

Setup: Goon LP, dual parallel SS316L 25g @0.10ohms, 69w with 100w preheat, full cotton wicks

Testing: Real Flavors (super concentrate) French Toast @1.4% steeped for 24 days

Flavor Description: Real Flavors continues to impress me with another spot on concentrate. This tastes exactly like real french toast dipped and/or drizzled in artificial maple syrup. The egg soaked, fried bread comes through in a very, very pleasant way. There is plenty of buttery goodness here and the syrup is balanced really well. This is already very sweet tasting. Real Flavors page describes cinnamon, however I don't taste any (it could just be very subtle).

Off-flavors: none!

Throat Hit: nope!

Uses and Pairings: I could vape this solo. Solo percent could be 1-2%. This has a lot of potential for any waffle, pancake, or crepe type profiles. The artificial syrup is perfect and the actual french toast would blend well with your other bakery notes at around 0.5-1.5%.

Notes: /u/ConcreteRiver usually does concentration testing here, but I'm not a shiny golden flavor god like he is. I'll use this space to link to the Real Flavors page

Second Opinions: jombo (on e-cigarette-forum.com) says "you can actually taste the egg in it yummy stuff" and "french toast was great also amazing to taste that egg in that sweet syrup and still taste the very light AP (bread)."

Later in the thread Fozzy71 discovers, after attempting all kinds of 'speed steeping', that time-steeping his juice is making it taste better(who knew?), and that RF (SC) French Toast is delicious

There is so much discussion about RF here that i thought id just link the whole thread. They discuss many other flavors for your reading pleasure

I wish i liked vaping French toast as much as I enjoy eating it. This stuff sounds bomb.

Does this have any cinnamon notes at All? I didn't see you mention it.

I mentioned not really tasting any. I'm still vaping what's left of my tester and it's not really cinnamoney but it could just be that it's very subtle. This tastes just like French toast, which usually has it, so that might mean it's there, and it just blends in well.

Edit for clarification: there isn't a strong cinnamon taste, but it doesn't taste like they left it out of the recipe when they cooked up breakfast. I hope that's intelligible.

That's helpful, thanks!

I suppose that really isn't an issue with a couple of drops of FLV Rich Cinnamon would give you the flavor if you wanted it.

Exactly what I was thinking. I really need to cough up the 12 bucks for rich cinnamon already. I've been so stingy lately...

Yup that makes perfect sense

It looks like you're trying to mention another user, which only works if it's done in the comments like this (otherwise they don't receive a notification):

Thanks robodude

Also /u/mysticrosell check out the French Toast! I know you were on the fence about this one, but it's magical.

Been wanting to try some of these RF flavors but every time I see the insane steep times I get discouraged. Great write up!

Those insane long steep times are mainly from the VG line they have. The super concentrates line isn't VG based and doesn't have a long steep time at all.

I don't think you need to steep it this long. That is just how long I did steep it. It would probably be fine after a week or two. I didn't try it as a shake and vape but my search suggested it does need a few days

This seems like something I need to get soon to pair with FLV Rich Cinnamon and some CAP Cinnamon Danish Swirl.

Thanks for the review!

What's the difference between the (sc) and the regular flavoring?

5 points

by HashSlingingSlashurover 8 years ago

Regular one is in VG and used between 8-12% .. the SC form have no PG/VG and are much stronger (use 0.5-2.5%). I like the SC stuff very much

by dominicaldazeover 8 years ago

Are you sure there's no PG? I thought they were pg based with some alcohol as well.

2 points

by HashSlingingSlashurover 8 years ago

I believe they are raw extracts and contain some alcohol but no PG .. not sure but I feel like I read that somewhere. On mobile can't find links now

I think they use PDO instead of PG considering they have a unreleased PDO line coming in the future.

You made it sound so good. You aren't alone; I've read a lot of praise for it. Breakfast vapes are probably my favorite, so this is a must have. I haven't even tried it and I already bet a touch of Rich Cinnamon will set it off! Anything breakfast with RC is on another level.

Yeah I'm going to buy some rich cinnamon ASAP. I've been waiting for an excuse, which I guess I have now.

The French Toast really surprised me. I wasn't expecting it to be this good.

This is a thread on tasting notes for the SC. Lots of info here also.

Am I the only one that doesn't get much from this flavor? Tried 2 and 4, sitting for 2 weeks. What I do get is great, there's just not much of it. I guess I'll just keep letting it sit

2 and 4%? The VG or the super concentrate?

2 points

by Nicobeakover 8 years agoresident tobacco specialist

2 and 4% SC

by PerennialPhilosopherover 8 years ago

I wouldn't see the need to mix this over 2% so I'm not sure what the problem is here. Maybe you have trouble tasting it? Do you have problems tasting any other concentrates?

FWIW, Real Flavors SC line has some pretty decent flavors in there. So far I'm loving the strawberry. Very prominent flavor at only 1-1.5% I made a strawberry kiwi mix with 1.5% RF SC strawberry and .5% FA kiwi and I was really happy about it. I also got Rice crispy treat, which I am going to finally try out later today. I also live about 15 minutes away from their building in Troy, so I think I'll have to go down there and grab a bunch of different flavors.

Agree strawberry is bomb AF

I'm confused by this one, I've tried it at %s ranging from 1-12% and can barely taste it at all, same goes for a couple of the other bakery SCs I've tried. Smells great though!

2 points

by PerennialPhilosopherover 8 years ago

Anything over 3% would probably mute the taste. Try again at 2% with a one to two week steep.

by ns-10over 8 years ago

I started at 1%, have various testers ranging from 1-12% all steeped for close to 2 months now, I just can't taste it ;-(
