I'll keep it brief because I'll stick to the point regarding whether they taste natural or not, since that's what they're known for - and probably what people are looking for when they buy them. I wanted to settle with only MF since I want to keep it natural, and I've tried a bunch of them now with various results. The one's that have received positive reviews in general and are being said to have a natural taste have often to me been the ones that tastes artificial/candy-like, and vice versa.
General information: I'm using a magnetic stirrer, and some of these flavors works well immediately after stirring. I've heard that it takes 3-4 weeks for most of them to really come out, but that only applies to some. I'll add a note regarding just that on every flavor (along with the percentage I've been using it).
Also, if you decide to try MF, don't dilute them at 10:1, since if you're playing around with lots of flavors in a recipe it might crash the recipe if it exceeds whatever percent you use your VG/PG at. I tried 17% nectarine with 15% vanilla.. which doesn't work in a 30PG recipe. So dilute them at 5:1!
Blueberry - this doesn't taste like blueberry really. It has a very dominant jammy flavor that - on a good day - you might find a hint of blueberry in. It does get a little bit better after steeping for a couple of weeks, but not much. I've been using this between .1-1%.
Strawberry - I was eager to try this one out. It has a jammy feel that unfortunately pulls it to the artificial side. It slowly loses those artificial qualities after 2-4 weeks, but not fully. Been using it between .2-3%.
White Peach - this is a good peach that isn't too far away from FA White Peach. So in other words, not really true to the actual fruit. There's a popular candy in Sweden that tastes just like this one. Doesn't change that much after steeping for more than a few days. I've been using it between .1-2%.
Nectarine - real, actual nectarine. It's insanely good. Overall, this is my favorite flavor, along with the next one in line (passion fruit). It really needs a vanilla to round the edges though. It works immediately after stirring it, and reaches its top after two days. Been using it at between 1-1.8% - at 1.8% it tends to get too intense for me, but 1.7% is perfect.
Passion Fruit - fucking delicious and natural. Just as nice as the nectarine. This one at .8% with DIYFS Holy Vanilla at 3% is ready to vape instantly after 15 minutes in a magnetic stirrer. Doesn't really change when steeping.
White Cherry - kind of artificial cherry. Hard to define, but it's good. Haven't used it much. .5% is enough. Needs to steep for ~2 weeks
Dark Chocolate - it's really the best dark chocolate. It hasn't really got the creaminess to it that I'm longing for, but pair it with a good vanilla and it's delicious. 1% brings out all the neccessary elements. This badboy needs to steep for a fucking month!
White Chocolate - the best white chocolate. It should be a secondary flavor in my opinion. .5-1.3%. Steep for a month as well.
Vanilla - I was very dissapointed with this one, since I haven't actually even tasted it in a recipe. It surely works to tone down intense flavors, but apart from that it really doesn't do much to me, which I'm sad to say. I've been using this at .3-2.5%. Steeping doesn't change its presence to me.
Watermelon - I mean, if it would taste actual watermelon, it wouldn't really taste much. This is the artificial equivalent - and definitely the best one. .2-1.5%. Works immediately after stirring, but gets better after a week.
Wild Raspberry - delicious, but it's like a raspberry minus the natural juicyness - so it's not really natural. It reminds me of a hard candy I used to consume heavily as a kid. .2-.8%. Needs to step for 1-3 weeks (depends on what you pair it with).
Raspberry - more natural than the Wild (although known for not being as good as Wild). It's sweeter and a bit more juicy. Works at .3-1%. Same steep time as its sibling.
Caramel - harsh, so pair it with something creamy. It's a really good caramel when done right. 2-.8%. Needs to steep for 2-3 weeks.
Mango - I just started playing around with it, and so far I think it works as a background note if paired with something from the same genre, eg. passion fruit/peach/nectarine/watermelon. It tastes a lot of mango peel, so keep it low. Maybe around .2-.6% since it isn't too strong. Steeping for a week softens it a bit, doesn't change much after that.
That's it. Sorry for not being as thorough as other people on here, but maybe it'll be useful to someone.
Thanks for the comments , i have a bunch of MF flavorings but have heard they DO NOT mix well with any other manufacturers flavorings which really kills their potential for me.
I think they do, but unfortunately they don't mix that well with eachother. I figured Strawberry and Nectarine would be killer, but that just ended up like jam. If you pair two "distant" flavors however, like raspberry and dark chocolate, it definitely works.
Sorry might be a noob question but where do you buy these from cause you made me have some serious cravings for many of them!
Since I live in Sweden I buy them from Vapour Depot or rawliving.eu - if you're american head over to medicineflower.com or ecigexpress.com for 5ml bottles (otherwise they're 15ml and quite expensive, although they last long so it's not that unproportional as you'd think).
what about Banana? i bought it under their lotus brand from ecigexpress like 3 weeks ago and haven't been able to make it work in anything. i'm one of those who hates artificial/candy banana flavors and was hoping to be able to finally create a vapable banana recipe but as of yet that's not happened.
Try Hagsen's banana? I saw a post about it a while ago, saying it was easily the most realistic banana flavor
the problem is it's just getting covered up in the recipes i've tried it in, which were a) a peanut butter and banana milkshake and b) a banana rum cake, both recipes were my own creation, and that's likely the problem, because sometimes i use too many flavors (which i've read mutes/muddles things) and also i'm still very new and Very Much shitting the bed on most stuff i envision as being tasty. anyway i was using MF's banana at around .75- 1% with back up percentages from LA's banana cream (in the milkshake)and TPA's banana nut bread (in the rum cake) hovering around 2% in each recipe, to try to boost the banana flavor, and still they both seemed really flat and kinda gross. idk.
maybe i should just try it in a simple mix around 2% with something like FLV's cream, just something light and kinda creamy and kinda sweet to transport it nicely.
What is mf?
Short for Medicine Flower, a company that produces all kinds of natural shit. The flavorings are extracted from the actual fruit (or nut/berry/etc), and they're not really intended for vaping but they work good as any other flavoring.
I had a real addiction to Open Source Vapor Blueberry Creme, made with only MF flavors for a while. Very realistic and smooth flavor, sometimes it doesn't need to be complex to be good. Recipe link above.
