With all personal preferences aside, as the title says, you have to chose one recipe for a newcomer to vaping, what would it be?
The one and only Mustard Milk. Shake and vape, delicious, really simple and cheap to make. In fact, my constant recommendation of this recipe for DIY beginners is a bit of a running joke in my local group of vapers. Freaking amazing stuff, I always have a bottle of it.
It really is simple and ridiculously tasty. Always have a 120 of it mixed.
Something simple like Coop's kiwi bourbon
Or my jango
Strap on Strawberry (FA) 3% Watermelon (FA) 3% Fuji Apple (FA) 2%
Great as a shake and vape. Better after 3 days, fuji apple tone down a little. I also add Dragonfruit (TPA) 0.5% lately

And don't forget to try all the recipes inspired by it

No, just try the ones that really seem like they'd be a good fit for you. I've set out to try all the strap-ons (still a few more left to try) and it's really starting to wear me out.
Can FA watermelon be subbed for LA watermelon?
As an introduction to vaping for an ex smoker I would say any ry4 recipe. Goes great with a cup of coffee which is when most people get that urge for a cigarette. Only drawback is that steeping time.
As an introduction I would have to go with INW 555 Gold @ 7% A really underrated tobacco (NET) which in my experience is very versatile. It holds up to lots additions which means that within reason you add pretty much anything to it. I make up 200ml at a time and normally Vape it straight as is but if I wanted a change I'd just split off 15ml and play around with it adding Fruits, Vanillas, Creams or Nuts. 555 Gold has an Umami kind of taste to it which is great after being on liquids that have a lot of sweetness in them.
My super ridiculously simple strawberry lemonade seems to be a hit among my friends, enough that I get requests to mix a bottle for them regularly. Especially nice because it's pretty good no matter which vendor or version you use for the flavors, I've tried it all sorts of ways and have never once been disappointed in the result. I do have personal preferences, though.
- 5% Lemonade (LA Lemonade preferred)
- 2.5% Strawberry (TFA Strawberry Ripe preferred)
It also works just as well with Raspberry flavors. I'll also sometimes add Smooth just to shake things up a bit.
I also have a really simple take on Thug Juice that's pretty good, but I can never remember the recipe. I always just wing it and it comes out great. It's something around this:
- 4% LA Watermelon
- 2% TFA Grape Candy
- 2% Koolada
Another simple little one that I quite like, which can also vary a little in ratios (I call it Neutron because it sounds cool):
- 4% FA Fuji
- 3% CAP Green Apple
- 4% FA Peach White (Juicy Peach also works)
Menthol or Koolada goes nicely in this one. The end result is commonly compared to Gushers or Fruit Rollups.
I like these in particular because they are not picky about the amounts or vendors all that much. I don't even really like mixing them the same every time, I tend to mix them by scent based on which particular note I'd like to be prominent at the moment. Sometimes I want Fuji to stand out more in Neutron, or maybe I'll want a bit more grape in the Thug Juice.
These all make great shake and vapes, as well. I actually prefer the strawberry lemonade that way, I don't like it as much after a long steep.
One that includes the most common and basic building block Concentrates in a simple way that has very normal percentages along with them. Also includes Concentrates by TFA, CAP, FA, & INW to demonstrate different percentage ranges for each Manufacturer.

Or alternatively, flavor percentages that work out well with standard kitchen measuring tools. Example
That strawberry lemonade recipe is really similar to a recipe I call "Dragon Balls". I use FW Lemonade and dragonfruit and TFA Srawberry Ripe. I'd post the percents but I've only made two big batches. The first being the best but my dumb ass forgot to save the recipe and the second, that is almost equally as loved as the first, but just slightly off. My friend's request it all the time. I'm not a big straight fruit person so I just give the stuff away. Makes good Christmas presents lol
As an ex smoker...
TFA Red type - 2.5%
Menthol - 4%
That's a serious amount of menthol
Go smoke a menthol cigarette and you'd find this mix is pretty comparable. The menthol is already diluted not pure.
Thug Juice - 13% Flavor West Jungle Juice. Its perfect in an MtL or restricted lung setup, and the menthol guards against Vaper's Tongue. I've made litres of this for other people in the past 2yrs.
Simple strawberry cheesecake is always great !
Strawberry ripe (TPA) 6% Cheesecake graham crust (TPA) 6%.
Some prefer a higher strawberry to cheesecake ratio, but this is what works for me and my friends. Up it to like 8% strawberry ripe if you plan to steep over 2 weeks. The strawberry really mutes with time imo.
It certainly depends if the newcomer is a smoker or just a hobbyist. If its a smoker something with a heck of a throat hit and a strong flavor ...cinnamon, tobacco, vanilla... It took me over a year before I even had a #2 juice. Good Ol "John Wayne" 24mg kicked my butts. Then my second love was 100$ apple pie... gradually working my way to fruits. Note I was using pro tank / provari set ups or worse silica wick disposables. If they were a smoker Id suggest a good cigarette flavor or one of the custards/cereals floating about. Forgive me if I'm wrong OP but you are asking what juice a new vapor would like? That's what I answered anyway.. It seems some people are saying what recipe would a new mixer make... Two vastly different topics imho.
Ingredient|% :---|---: Banana Cream (TPA)|5 French Vanilla (CAP)|1.75 Strawberry (Ripe) (TPA)|8
Flavor total: 14.75%
This is my recipe and i've found i like INW shisha vanilla at 1.5% more than cap french vanilla
