Where do you all tend to mix, e.g. in your kitchen, in a dining room, in a workshop, etc?
Mostly, I don't want to tick off my wife who keeps a really clean house (which I highly appreciate) by messing up a kitchen. E.g. spilling juices and whatnot.
I'm tempted to mix in my woodshop, which... Is kind of dusty. It's not like there's an active table saw running or something and I keep it clean, but, there is still dust. So, I'm hesitant.
Also, do you use anything to mix on, in order to easily clean up, like, a sheet or plastic or something? Thanks.
I have kids so I wait til they go down to mix, but I do it at our kitchen bar/peninsula. Good light, and near paper towels and sink for cleanup. When I'm done I take down my flavors, bottles and scale in a big Tupperware bin and store it in my workshop in the basement. Nice and cool, no sunlight so it's ideal for steeping and storage. And it's up and out of the way of my kids.

Def make sure you are mixing with a scale, its much easier, faster and less messy than by volume.

Aside from that, any table or desk works. I like to sit at my desk which has a couple of shelves for my flavors. Desk is in my bedroom.

Dust should not be a huge problem because your bottle is only open for a minute or so.

If you really want to avoid dust/debris just clean up a bit, as long as you don't see a ton of dust particles in the air then nothing should get into the juice. I would definitely prefer not mixing in a woodshed but if you can make it work then do so.

I'd also make sure there is not too much sunlight where I am mixing, and your concentrates are stored properly. (out of the light and below about 70F, not an exact number but they should be cool to cold)
I mix in my workshop. I just ran my shop vac over everything and then put a regular old air filter over a fan and run it all the time. Surprisingly, it has very little dust now. I also don't leave things uncovered for any unnecessary length of time.
Good to know that works -- love the idea with the fan. I'm really leaning towards using my shop, it's not terribly dirty, and I have free reign to muck it up if I need to.
I have this awesome 2 shelved rolling cart that everything except for my packages of bottles fits on. It was older and wooden so I coated the entire thing with that Rustoleum water proofing spray. So I can literally roll this thing into whatever room I happen to want to mix in. Fits right in my closet to lock up when I'm not using it.
I had the exact same problem, was mixing in the kitchen just on the off chance anything spilled I would be near a sink but my flavours and I have been kicked down to my office.
I keep a roll of a paper towel handy but mixing by weight I haven't spilled anything as of yet. knocks on wood
I'm a messy bastard-no matter how much I try to not make a mess, I usually wind up making one thanks to some nerve damage in my neck that affects my hands. Subsequently, I mix in the kitchen. I've got a piece of counter top(waste from a sink cut-out) that I use as my mixing platform. We have bumpy tile counters, so the surface of the mixing platform gives me the added benefit of a smooth,even surface for my bottles and scale to sit on. I keep a pile of paper towels nearby, and a roll of paper towels near to hand in case the spill should exceed the pile's absorption capacity. I'm probably going to add a small lip on the outside of the platform so that should I ever have a significant spill it will stay contained on the platform.
I'm getting a very harsh, sort of 'burning' sensation from all my mixed liquids. Any idea what this could be? Thanks.
Do you shake your nicotine solution thoroughly before using it? And where do you get it? I use 100 mg/mL nicotine in a 100% PG base and hardly get any throat hit even at a 6 mg concentration. Also, I am currently using Liquid Barn nic. Nude Nic is also good, but mine oxidized far quicker than my Liquid Barn nic, plus their shipping takes for-fucking-ever.

Not necessarily. Shaking the nic solution will ensure that the nicotine is evenly distributed through the base liquid. If you don't shake it up, you end up with hot spots in the solution, resulting in the harsh feeling you described. Try shaking it up thoroughly next time. Hope this helps.
Might be nicotine, might be the recipes your mixing. Where did you get your nic from?

I'm in the US, but from what I've heard they have good stuff. Maybe someone else can chime in on that. Are you mixing your own recipes or stuff that other people here have posted. You may just be sensitive to some of the aroma volatiles in the flavors we use, so it might help to single flavor test everything you use to narrow down what might be causing the harshness.
It still could be the nicotine, which you could also make a mix to test, just vg/pg and your normal nicotine level. I would say try all of that out and see if you find the culprit.
I just made my first couple of bottles as well. Having the exact same issue. Strong throat hit with a burning feeling. Only 3mg. Going to mix a bottle without nic tonight and see if the results are the same. Is your nic 100mg/ml?
So my local boots store is selling glycerin B.P. For £1.49 for 200ml. I've read a few things regarding VG and this one states it is 100% glycerin derived from vegetables. For that price it's gotta be worth it right?
It's all about what's available to you and personal preference, people usually prefer palm derived VG also that's like almost £10 for 1000ml, I buy a gallon of palm derived for like $14 which is like 3750ml so it may be worth ordering a gallon or two for you or it may not. All personal preference

I'm new to this so I'm a little confused. I was reading a recipe that I'm super excited about.l but I'm having a little difficulty following the mixtures.
When I see [flavor] x% is the number there (say 3%) is it 3% of the total volume of juice. I.e. If I'm mixing 100 ml is this 3ml.

Looking for the best bourbon flavor and good recipes to go with. My friend just wants a good whiskey flavored vape. I know it goes well with tobaccos and not overly sweet stuff. Since its not my drink of choice, I have no idea where to even start.
Bourbon goes phenomenally with overly sweet stuff, it gives a good contrast with it's earthy tones and mellow musk. TFA bourbon is the best, and Bangin' Bourbon Bread is a great showcase of how bourbon complements and balances overly sweet profiles and a great showcase of TFA bourbon itself.

its my favorite cereal and i'm wondering what kind of cereal flavor would most accurately duplicate it in a juice. i have berry crunch and fruit circles, but i doubt those are applicable- it's not a fruity cereal- but it's also not nutty, so i'm unsure if cereal 27 would be good. i have zeppola, and i'm sure that will be useful in some small percentage, but i will need something to mimic the crunchy grainyness of it- maybe sugar cookie, i don't know. does anyone have any experience with this cereal and duplicating cereal flavors?

CAP sugar cookie will work to sweeten and kind of bind everything. keep it below 3%.

I had this cereal once but wasn't a huge fan, FW captain crunch is pretty spot on and that's where i'd start for this one. (3-5% should do)

Lastly, sweetener helps with many of these cereal profiles, start low .25% and work up depending on preferance

The only other ingredients I would recommend are

FW Hazelnut at .5% it won't taste nutty but will add magic (don't ask me how, this stuff just does things) and maybe something like

LA cream cheese icing which might add to the meringue if you think the sugar coating is lacking. (0.5-1%)

Also look into TPA marshmallow or toasted marshmallow, below 1% they add a lot of sweetness+mouthfeel and can help with balancing dryer ingredients
Cereal 27 is my favorite for that genre. No fruit, just grainy. Doesn't really need backup but a pinch of TFA Cheesecake/Graham compliments it nicely. I posted a recipe in the monthly thread that is supposed to be really close to a popular commercial juice from Cuttwood called Bird Brains. Without the Silly Rabbit, it is a very good cereal milk on its own. Should be easy to sub in different things.
I made a new batch of my ADV (cinnamon danish) from a new bottle from Nicotine River. I noticed I was blowing thicker clouds and then started burning up coils at about 3x the rate I am used to. I bought the coils from a new place and just thought that they might be clones or just a bit 'off'.
I got some new coils from my regular place and still had the same problem. Started investigating everything. I tested my batteries, scrubbed my tanks, and then noticed that my Nicotine was in 100% VG. Reviewed my order and that was exactly what I had ordered. I checked the wrong box. I have an order of the same nic in 100% PG coming today mix with it to rectify the problem.
Moral of the long winded story? Check every detail
*I use Aspire Nautilus tanks. 1.8 Ohm coils at 8 watts.
Fruit flavor and a huge throat hit.
I am just trying to start DIY, but having a huge problem. Most all of my juices have horrible throat hit. In the sense that after a bit of chain vaping (3-4 hits with few seconds in between) I feel like I drank very hot cup of liquid. I tried to vape only my base with couple of drops of CAP Chocolate Fudge Brownie (like 3 drops in 10ml). It seems to be with no burning sensation. So I think my base and Nic are fine.
From what I have read I may have a clue as to why I have this uncomfortable sensations. Fruit? I love fruits, so I thought to mix fruit juice. I made Capella Sweet Strawberry and TFA Blueberry Extra flavors. Around 10% each. But I am unable to vape them at all. Burn is just too high. I try to mix juice at 3mg Nic.
Here goes couple of questions:
Are fruit flavors (especially above mentioned) are expected to be harsh on their own? Should % of flavor be a lot lower (5% or so)? Should juice with the only flavor being fruit be a no go?
As I made like 3 bottles 60 ml each (yes, I know, I was naïve…) is there any way I can salvage them? Let them breath overnight to let the flavor away (but Nic will be effected too I guess)? Can I dilute them? Or should I try to add some kind of sweetener (as I read they might help soften the flavor)?

Did you make a juice with Blueberry and Strawberry at 10% each or are those separate mixes?
You have 3 choices:

add sweetener and/or cotton candy (Ethyl Maltol) to mute the crap out of it and make it vapable.

add 40ml of 3mg base to each 60ml bottle to dilute the flavor percentage down to 6% (wastes nic and/or base). Then you have possibly 100ml of each juice you hate. =D

chuck it, lesson learned, mix a new batch, smaller and at lower percentage flavor.

Nicotine Salts.
Been feeling like my usual 6mg wasn't doing the trick. Mixed up a 2 flavor test batch of "Smooth" @ 20mg. I'm sub-ohming, using temp control. I'm definitely vaping less but I feel like I'm not as "satisfied" if that makes sense.
A few times I felt as if I'd had too much nic, but it passed in a few minutes.
I guess my question to nic salt users is if/how nic salts have changed your vaping experience vs free base?
How much testing of your nic is necessary?
I bought 48mg nic from Carolina Extracts. And I also bought a nic test kit with an order from Wizard Labs.
I tested my nic and it came out at 58mg. But, I'm not sure it wasn't a noob mistake. Should I test another 3+ times to have something better than a sample of 1? Or, is it just to see that some mistake wasn't made, e.g. you got 250mg (or something ridiculous) can I trust it's really 48mg in that it's close and it's a reputable vendor? Or should I verify the tests $n times?

With TPD about to hit the UK I finally got round to picking up 500ml of 72mg in VG. I'm in a shared house so don't feel comfortable storing it in the communal freezer.
In order to store long term I figured if I couldn't keep it cold I could minimise oxygen instead. I've decanted it into a load of 10ml amber glass bottles (I actually got about 12ml in each to fill them almost to the top). This way whenever I need any the rest is kept airtight.
I put batches of 6 bottles into ziploc bags and used water displacement to further keep out air. Then the whole is being stored in a box in the basement.
As I vape at 1.5 I'm also going to be taking these one at a time and mixing them up to 18 for my working bottle which I am more comfortable having in the freezer.
How is this set up for storage and is there anything else I could/should be doing?
This all sounds good to me. It may be a little extreme in some measures.
I break my nicotine down into 30ml bottles. I keep a 30ml of 100mg/ml at room temperature (75°F) in a dark cabinet for about a month and a half and I've never had any issues. This is my mixing bottle. The rest goes in the freezer.
If you don't feel comfortable using the communal freezer, another consideration is to get yourself one of those mini fridges for your personal room. It's not a freezer but the lower temperature will work about as well to reasonably lengthen shelf life. Otherwise what you plan to do seems more than sufficient to keep your nicotine fresh for 6 months or more.
A little extreme is fine, thanks to TPD this is the only chance I'll have so looking for it to last a few years and to make up for the freezer issue. I might look into a mini fridge but it's another expense i was hoping to avoid.
Would have gone for 30ml but there was q good price on a large batch of the 10s. Though even doing it outside you get light headed decanting into so many small bottles because it takes so much longer.
I feel defeated.
I just got into mixing and went through a couple bad batches using Lorann. Never again, worst throat harshness and burning ever. Got some Capella flavors and TFA sweetener/sour in today and tried them out - night and day difference in terms of smoothness and zero harshness. Here's where I'm failing - in one instance (Capella Bubble Gum) there's hardly any flavor at all, in the other (Capella Honeydew Mellon) there's some flavor but somewhat weak and not really the fruit kick in the face I want. I can taste that it's there more than the bubble gum and it's a little sweet but just not what you would get at the local brick and mortar. Fortunately I take decent notes so hopefully you can help me? I'll post the precise mixes below and hope you can help because I'm at a loss as to what I'm doing wrong. I love sweet true-to-life fruit flavor like I'm literally eating a melon. I made these batches small to not waste resources while I learn. These both were well mixed but not steeped nor breathed (didn't see need for it due to no alcohol), flavors are PG based but that PG gives throat burn which I hate so that's why there's no added PG in my mixes below, is that the culprit, not enough PG? Is ethyl maltol better than sucralose for true body/sweetness?
Honeydew Melon - 15mg/ml @ 15ml
- 9.38ml of 24mg/ml 100%vg
- 3.98ml of 100%vg
- .9ml (6%) Capella Honeydew Melon
- .45ml (3%) TFA Sweetener
- .30ml (2%) TFA Sour
Notes: not really that sweet. strong melon on exhale in olfactory sense but not much tongue flavor. smells dead on like the best melon I've ever had in the bottle. no harshness and no throat hit (good) but overall weak. Maybe this isn't supposed to be a top note?
Bubblegum - 15mg/ml @ 15ml
- 9.38 of 24mg/ml 100%vg
- 4.13ml of 100%vg
- .9ml (6%) Capella Bubblegum
- .6ml (4%) TFA Sweetener
Notes: very weak bubblegum flavor. slightly bubblegum on exhale in olfactory sense, no aftertaste. smells perfect in the bottle like the taste i'd want. slightly sweet but without that flavor matching the smell it's just a basic sugary hint. Maybe this isn't supposed to be a top note either?
Between hits I will take a sip of coffee to cleanse the palate. I feel just terrible at this. Fruit taste is all I'm after, no custards, no pie crusts, nothing complicated like that just pure one or two fruits kicking me in the face. Help!!
You need to cut back on the additives. Leave the sweetener and sour be until you have had some experience mixing without it. 3-4% of Sweetener is too much. That's why your flavor is muted. You can probably leave out the Sour entirely. In addition, some flavors just aren't good flavors. CAP's Bubblegum flavor isn't the same as say, INW's.

Okay, I'll try without additives. I have read that sucralose can mute flavor so I don't want to be doing that.
As a cigarette flavor not just a tobacco flavor if someone know if i mix FLV Cured Tobacco @ 3% and INW DNB @ 0.5% will that give me a cig like ? i have FA Cuban Supreme but was not satisfied or impressed as an ex smoker by any means with it's flavor same goes with FA Glory. I think i am really looking for ashy type of tobaccos
I personally don't get a cigarette vibe from any of the FLV that I've tried. I really haven't found anything that is satisfactorily "cigarette." The best I've found are pipe type of tobaccos. Probably your best bet would be to get a Tobacco Absolute, and then add 1% of the Dirty Neutral. Depending on which tobacco absolute you get, I'd suggest 1-3%. INW tobacco absolutes are really good, but I find myself needing to use them a little higher than the ECX TA. Some TAs need to be diluted before mixing with them as well. I've made that mistake before! So read up a little on whichever one you go with if you go this route.
I actually got the concentrates and gave it a shot it not a cig like but man that is some nice tasting tobacco right there. I think it's more of a pipe tobacco but it smells like a fresh opened rolling tobacco here in Australia called Port Royal i also added some FA 7 leaves gives that anise taste not bad but maybe needs a bit more Black fire and a touch more than 0.5 DNB

Just ordered the equipment to start mixing my own juice. I've watched a few videos, found a good calculator, etc. I'm going to start with 15ml at 3%, trying to make smooth, fruity flavors with minimal throat hit.
Any obvious tips I want to keep in mind as I get started? Particularly with regards to steeping?

What are you doing at 3%? Flavor percentage depends on what flavors you are using. Hopefully you have looked up recipes that appeal to you and have ordered flavors based on that. Order your PG and VG separate. Your ratio is not going to be 70/30 when you are finished if that is what you are aiming for a final ratio. Steeping will also depend on what flavors you are mixing.

I didn't look up any recipes. I just ordered 20-25 different highly rated flavors thinking (probably naively) that I would play around with them.
Can you expand on what you mean by steeping depends on the flavors? Does it have to do with what chemicals are in the flavors, or just personal preference? Thanks
I'm lucky enough to have a job that gives me a lot of free time and over the past few months have gone past the point of no return down that never ending rabbit hole. The last moth or so I have been working a lot with tea flavours, mostly Chinese flavours but also the 3 from tfa( green,black and earl grey). One problem I have run into is getting the tea flavour to pop or stand out at the front of the recipe without being too strong or harsh. I've mostly been mixing the different teas at about 1.5% and adding different creams. I haven't tried blending or layering any of the teas together yet and maybe this could help. I know with fruit juices that sometimes adding lemon, sour,tart, dragon fruit etc. can help to make the flavours pop and with tobaccos adding a few drops of vinegar can help. I'm thinking that with tea it may be a little different. I would appreciate any ideas or advice from the great people on here and of course a bit of sarcastic wit is always acceptable :-)
Try mixing them at .5%, especially the Chinese(guessing Hangsen) flavors.

I have a problem with throat hit, but not what you might expect. I originally struggled to make a juice that wasn't too harsh, until I removed the sweetener from my mixes. Now my juice is TOO smooth! Even if I crank up my mod and take a huge hit it's still smooth with no throat hit at all.. which I don't want. Currently vaping 2mg, should i up it slightly to get a bit of throat hit? The vapour and flavour is perfect it just feels like I can't get a good 'drag' if that makes sense. I've spent weeks trying to get my juices smoother but now it's gone too far the other way.
Do PG and VG go bad? And if yes how long does it take them to become unusable?
A friend of mine gave me two 1 liter bottles: one with PG and the other one with VG, they were both 70% full. They're about 1 year and a half old. So I tried them and they seem good, I vaped them with different concentrates and they give good flavor but the VG doesn't seem thick as it should be, in fact I now make ejuice 70/30 since if you do 50/50 with those two bottles it's way too less thick. They don't smell at all and the too bottles are the dark tipe so the light doesn't get in I guess

You should be aware that RY4 Double is not a tobacco flavor. So if you are basing interest off of that you may want to think about that.
There doesn't really need to be single flavor recipes posted. Just refer to common mixing percentages for that flavor or start at the general recommendation for that brand.
im not a new mixer but i thought i would ask this here since i heard this subreddit is filling up, does anyone have trouble with tfa vannila bean ice cream taking over and muting fruit flavors overtime when used in high percentages? take the recipe cliche', by skiddlzninja, strawberry and raspberry as the main notes with tfa VBIC and a fruity accent of your choosing, with VBIC at 5% it seems like if you dont vape it within the first week you start to lose the fruit a lot. should lowering the percentage work? or is VBIC just overpowering over long periods?
edit- if you do see this skiddlz i just wanna say its a wonderful recipe, its been in my rotation for many moons.
Lol. The sub isn't filling up. You don't have to worry. I always cut VBIC down a few percentages because it's always strong for me. So you can definitely try that.

I personally don't even like TFA VBIC, it tastes like pepper to me. That being said, the point of it is to sort of take over the fruits. That strawberry cream is a lot more about the cream than it is the various fruit notes, I just found that the flavors I used complimented the steeped cream the best. Feel free to lower it, or even replace it with FW or CAP VBIC.

I don't recommend putting Joy in a custard. At all. Biscuit seems unnecessary and possibly distracting.

Can't find a 'requests' thread anywhere, so I thought I'd give it a shot here.
Been looking for a clone, or something at least similar in profile, to The Vapor Chef's Beeblebrox for years now. Seeing as how he spurgged out online and ruined his reputation, I'm hoping someone out there that knows what direction to go in will be willing to chime in.
I know it's clone-able, a family member of mine got a bottle of some really cheap smoke-shop-lab-creation that tasted almost spot on, but was called 'Black Honey' - now I've been up and down the damned aisles so much that I'm wearing tracks in the linoleum. Everything tobacco is my forte, and I've been trying like a mofo since I picked up DIY to get something close, never hitting it. The Black Honey thing messed me up and put me completely on the wrong track for a long time.
Anyways, if anyone out there can point me in the right direction, I sure would appreciate it. Probably follow you around for a while throwing upvotes at you, who knows.
I think I have had a bottle of that before. Either before I started diy, or right at the beginning, so it's been too long for me to try a new flavor and think "that reminds me of Beeblebrox." I remember it being pretty dark and almost tasting like cola or something like that. Have you tried Super Concentrates Turkish? It's a pretty dark, creamy flavor.
I read some reviews right quick, and I see most people say it's got some Maple taste to it. I have a recipe that uses both SC Turkish, and TFA Maple Syrup. Their website says it's a vanilla Cavendish, but I only have experience with INW Cavendish, and it's got a pretty strong honey note in it. So maybe could try a stripped down version of my recipe.

TFA Maple Syrup- 2%
Vanillin- 2%
That might be a good starting point. That Maple needs a couple days to settle down. It leaves a weird aftertaste for the first two days or so. Not that color will be the greatest indicator, but I imagine that should end up pretty dark just like the real stuff. If you taste honey in the real thing, definitely try out INW Cavendish. Throw that in with the above around 2%.

I'm both dejected and a little let down to see the Maple suggestion. Not because it's wrong, not because it's inaccurate, but because I (briefly) went down that path in trying to figure this one out. And that, friends, marks the decidedly glaring down-point of this whole endeavor. After that, I swore off maple. I swore it off but didn't throw it away, because I knew - deep down - that I'd be cracking back into it to try again.

I've only used it in a couple recipes trying to make a more intense version of RY4 Double. I don't often suggest it, but it does have a flavor molecule in it that has a maple taste, and also has the vanillin in it. So you maybe could try the Turkish, Cavendish, and RY4 Double and see if you like that more.
I've never made my own cereal vape. I'm wondering if anyone has a favorite flavoring in regards to a golden graham cereal flavor. I hear Cereal 27 is good. Thank you.
I haven't had GG in a loooong time. Would you say it is lightly cinnamon? I can't remember.
FLV Cinnamon Crunch is a good standalone version of Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal, but I think that may be more cinnamony than GG.
And yes, Cereal 27 is an overlooked cereal base. It's pretty versatile. I have a recipe in this month's thread that may give you some ideas. Take out Silly Rabbit and add a touch of cinnamon, may be close to GG.

I've only purchased nicotine from ecig express and haven't really seen anyone talking about their quality. Is it any good? Will my juices turn out better with something from another vendor?
I've been satisfied with my nic from ECX. Ive read complaints but have none of my own.
It's a lower quality nicotine so you might notice your mixes are more harsh. For some reason companies send out more oxidized bottles so it's a flip of a coin if it's going to be good or not. Also, chemical tasting off flavors are what some say they taste with the low quality stuff.
With higher quality nicotine you get clean and flavorless outcomes every time and you don't have to deal with any added harshness from the nicotine in your recipes.

I used to vape rip tide kind of juice from several different german companies. Now with the guidelines because of TPD coming up, I want to get more into DIY. Any of you happen to have a nice recipe for a red fruit-menthol juice? Since I don't have that many flavours, I would order those needed.

You could try les diy por les nouls, but in all honesty you're better off searching here for red fruit flavors and adding a menthol to it

For the most part, yes. Depends on how complicated you want to make things for yourself. It can be as easy as finding a good stand-alone flavour and adding 0.25% - 1% menthol. I make juice for a guy that's just 5% TFA Raspberry Sweet and 0.5% Menthol. Loves that shit.
Hello I am new to DIY mixing and so far I have made a flavor, its a strawberry milkish, I forget the name of the flavor. Just add .5% of any of those flavors I mentioned and take it from there. If it doesn't work for you then I would dump it and start from scratch with a slightly modified version of it.

Please don't buy that base. It's probably not going to be the best and your money is better spent.
You would be better off to buy a 120ml bottle of 100mg/ml 100% PG nicotine and separate VG and PG base to mix your own. Preferably Carolina Xtracts nicotine.

Go for Nicotine River if you don't want a premixed base, Carolina Xtracts is more expensive and for higher end mixing.
I would recommend Nude Nicotine link if you want a premixed base, which is fine if you're just starting out, but some calculators might not like them.
Nicotine River fits the bill of a one stop shop. They do have kits but make sure you do some more research (i.e. The sidebar) before you go that route.
You probably have an idea of what you like, so look up some highly rated recipes that sound good and add those flavors to your cart.
- Like everyone else said, dont buy a premixed base.
*Also you need a scale. If there was anything I'd say that's most important it's to buy a scale that reads down to .01 gram.

Yes it's easier to buy all your things in one place but it's not cheapest. I buy my nic, pg/VG and flavors from different places because in the end it saves me money.

If you don't care about saving money then go to nicotine river and buy nicotine base, PG, VG, and flavorings.(I use them for nicotine but not for pg or vg and only sometimes for flavors.)

It sound like a lot but if you do this now, you avoid spending even more money when you realize that you're missing things or that you need more of something, or that using volume to make e juice is messy and inaccurate.

Ordering a new flavour combo, but want to see thoughts. I am either thinking of TFA Dragonfruit/ Double Kiwi OR FA Raspberry/Lemon sicily. Any experience mixing these two combinations. What one would you suggest?
Personally I'd go with lemon/raspberry, but I don't know what your flavor stash looks like. I think those flavors are going to be more versatile. Kiwi is great and DF is a useful tool for flavor blending but I'm not sure how much mileage you'll get from those as the main stars of a mix.
Help with menthol.
I don't vape menthol juice myself (outside of the occasional drop or two of koolada) but I do have a friend I'm going to mix several menthol-y juices for. When I put my first flavor order a couple of months ago I purchased a bottle of DIY flavorshack powerful menthol drops with her in mind. But I have no idea how to use it. I'd like to mix a plain 70/30 juice with no flavoring but menthol as well as some simple blueberry ice (or any single/double fruit combo with menthol). Anyone have any experience with DIYFS super strong menthol drops (that's the name of their menthol flavor). Any idea's/thoughts on how I should mix her juices or recipe recommendations?
It's really easy to add to much and incinerate your throat with the effect that menthol gives. Start at .25%-.75% and go from there. .25% for more of a mild throat hit and sensation .75% for more of an intense throat hit and sensation. You will probably not need to exceed 1% with that solution depending on what kind of device she is using.

unrelated - I mixed up grack juice over the weekend. first time I've ever tasted koolada - it's really good (both grack juice and the koolada note). I'm menthol/koolada is really strong fresh and mellows out after a few days (at least that's been my experience with the koolada in grack juice)
Watermelon and grape are both really good with menthol.
Can I use nicotine salts in place of freebase nicotine? Would I want to? Is it less cost-effective?
After my first two orders I finally mixed (and steeped) some FA pineapple. After a lot of confusion, and some more research, I learned I shouldn't have ordered it based on reviews here. With all of that being said, any more flavors to stay away from? Not because you don't like it, but solely because it tastes nothing like it's name?

If you meant TFA Pineapple, it's a great flavor, but it needs to be used at a low percentage, I wouldn't go above 1.5%. The sweet spot tends to be around 0.5-0.75%.
If you meant FA Pineapple, then yea. It sucks.
A lot of flavorings require a bit of imagination, some of them have other uses. TFA Honey and TFA Cheesecake are apparently abominations without much use at all. My personal griefs are TFA DK Tobacco base and FA Espresso, they are both pretty horrendous in my book, though in fairness I've never touched them since solo testing them. I'm sure I could name a bunch more given time.
Have you tried pineapple juicy? It smells like juicy fruit gum with more pineapple. Made the lava flow clone with 1.5% of that instead 1% TFA pineapple and it is very good. How different is pineapple juicy TFA from pineapple TFA.
I'm really just trying to master certain flavors, then I figure I will start layering them. There's definitely a science involved. My head is definitely spinning, so much to take in at first.

Is there a concentrate, besides Koolada, that can add a mentholated layer to tobacco mixes without adding sweetness? I have an RY4 double mix with Acetyle Pyrazine that's amazing by itself, but everyone I know smokes menthols.
The recipe:
- Acetyle Pyrazine @ .5%
- RY4 Double @ 5%
Spearmint, Cool Mint, and Peppermint all add a sweet layer that I don't want. I have some FW Creme De Menthe that I'll be trying soon, but I fear that it will do the same thing as the other mints. I just keep finding myself relying on Koolada for coldness...It's almost a crutch in a sense. I don't want to use it for this.

For what it's worth, of the six flavors I got from them I only really liked Condensed Milk and Mango. I think I'd stick to mostly fruit flavors unless someone can pick out a bangin' cream or dessert flavor; haven't heard of much success with those.
How many of you eyeball the pg vg ratio when mixing ?
I mix by volume, normally in batches of 600ml-800ml. If it's close enough, no one is going to notice if you're .2 ml off.
Kind of. I premix the base to 30/70 PG/VG and top the bottle off with that after flavors and nic, eyeballing the line and leaving a bit of headspace. But only because I've measured the line before.
Oh because I don't have a scale yet so I kind of eyeballed the vg pg by making 80 percent vg and top off with pg
If you're just eyeballing it, you could measure the bottle. Say 25 mm is where you're shooting for. 80% VG would be 20 mm. Mark that with a line and fill to that line. Probably count your drops for flavors, then fill to the 25 mm point with PG.
Do you add PG in the majority of your juices?
My mixes so far are all MAX VG with 100% VG nicotine from Carolina Extracts, none have tasted bad but flavor is changing slowly. Room temperature is low in my basement and most all of the mixes contained custard, so for now I'm chalking it up to needing longer to steep, but also considering adding PG to at 20% or 30%.

Hoping to make a lot of bakeries and a few fruit\fruit and cream combos.
I made up some max VG juices, and it's initially fantastic, however I have a few issues.

The vapour produced from them smells like the vapour from a fog machine, rather than even remotely smelling like the flavour that it actually is.

After vaping half a 30ml bottle or so, the flavour of the juices drops dramatically. By the end, it's nearly flavourless. I make sure to shake them a lot after mixing, and shake them prior to refilling a tank. Since the flavour is great at the start, I'm feeling like the concentrates aren't mixing evenly into the VG, and I'm vaping most of the flavour away as I empty the bottle.
Any tips? Thanks!

I have not. I just tried a cereal vape for the first time a couple days ago and want to try my hand at a simple mix with that grainy/berry like taste of fruit loops, with a creamy, milky finish
Some people don't like Berry Crunch. But some do. Like just about any other you flavor you can think of, I suppose. I hope it doesn't taste like mushrooms to you. Percents do look good if it doesn't. 4 to 5% of any TFA or FW Cereal + 3 to 4% Bavarian Cream looks like a solid simple cereal if you enjoy the cereal.

They use more expensive flavor aromas and they are more concentrated. If you notice every other company puts a flat rate for their concentrates. They dilute them to all fit their price model.
The easy answer is they cost a lot to make and so they're expensive to the end user.

Another popular combo is watermelon + menthol, but I have never tried that myself personally.

Morning, i'm aware that this isn't a medical forum, however i'm looking for some advice. I started my DIY about a week ago, and really enjoying it so far. However, some of my liquids (can't really tell which one('s)) Are giving me a bit of a weird throat.. like it's not sore, but it's tickly? It feels thick.. if that's a description for your throat.. Just wondering if anybody has had the same experiences? Or if anybody knows what this might be due to.. (potential PG issues?, Bad batch of something?)
As a note, i've got a premixed bottle of 50/50, and using 72mg nic, in VG. I've tried some juices with 0mg and it seems to still have the same effect. Any help appreciated!
I'd say it's most likely caused by the flavoring.
It could be that you're using too much concentrate overall, or of one in particular, but we'd need to know what recipes you're mixing to make any such calls.
I can experience the problem you're describing if I vape too much creams, chocolates, nuts or spices. You may also be sensitive to certain chemicals or compounds within a specific flavoring. This is something you'll have to find out for yourself over time by simply varying what you vape and paying attention to when the problems come and go.
Thanks for the response, in terms of recipes, i've tried a few from this sub such as God's milk, and mustard milk (guess these would fit in with your "creams" theory). And the others have just been 10ml mixes, of each individual flavor i've purchased. The majority at 10% (concentrate). I've asked for some data-sheets from the supplier where i bought some of the concentrates from (as i've not been able to find any info on them on here (probably meaning they could in fact be the issue all together)).
I'll try making a few more batches with less concentrate in them, see if that has any impact.
With all this being said, I could have just manged to get a bit of illness at the exact time i started doing this... which i guess is possible. It's just a really annoying constant tickly sensation at the top of my throat!
What's the brand on those mystery concentrates?
It could be any of the flavorings. I had to phase out one of my favorites after I started getting a dry cough, itchy and tickly throat. I used it regularly for about a year before those problems started, then I had to troubleshoot by swapping things in and out of the recipe. As soon as I removed FA Bilberry from the equation, the problems vanished. Pity, it's a great flavor but I'm reluctant to use any more of it.
Other times I've started getting problems within hours. I particularly remember a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup vape I made that was so tasty I couldn't put it down, but my throat started getting sore and every time I vaped it things just got worse. Some trial and error and apparently I can't vape peanut. I have no allergies, but the artificial version of peanut just kills my throat. At least the two brands I had at my disposal, don't remember which they were.
Long story short, I recognize the problems you describe, but it could be any of the flavors, you'll just have to troubleshoot it yourself. Some find CAP Juicy Peach very harsh, to me it's super smooth and I could vape it all day.
It is probably a Nicotine hot spot try shaking the nic until your arm hurts and then keep shaking it.
If that does not solve it but I would recommend vaping your VG on it's own, the just PG on it's own. If you do not have PG and VG on its own try your premix. if that gives you problems get them separately and try the above.
If you are fine with them, introduce the nicotine (MAKE SURE YOU SHAKE THE SHIT OUT OF IT) at your desired strength at your preferred PG and VG ratio.
Again if it is fine add on flavoring in at a time. until you find which one is giving you the problem.

Although it's not an "instant" throat irritation.. which is what i might expect from a hot spot of nicotine. More of a constant.. like it's tickly now, and i've not vaped in a couple of hours whilst i've been at work..
I don't currently have separate PG & VG. I just bought 500ml of the premixed stuff. Just to see if i thought i'd enjoy the whole process and stuff. Which I do!

What is your favorite fruity recipe that has little to no steep time? High PG recipes are ok.
I think a better way to answer this than rattling off a dozen recipes to you, is that most fruity recipes only need a day or two to steep. Once you get into cream based recipes, the steeping can get upwards of two weeks. Tobacco's have been known to take a month or longer. If you specify what type of fruit flavors you like, I am sure there is a recipe out there that follows the profile you like.
