Weekly 'Suggest a Recipe for my Flavors' Thread - Week of March 31, 2017
submitted over 8 years ago by AutoModerator

Got a bunch of flavors but not sure how to make them work together? Post your list here, and our team of semi-professional mixologists will make suggestions for you! If you are impatient and want to do this on your own, here are a couple of good links:

  • /u/daath has a nice website that has this functionality, but you will need to register to make it work. It is not very intuitive but if you work with it you can input your flavors and get a list of recipes that you can make. IMO this is the better site if you have the patience to make it work for you. Edit2: to get this to work, first set up an account. Then add your flavors to the stash (under my page / my flavor stash). hit save. Then go back to the front page and click the link next to the search field, "Search by flavor stash". You can select a couple of your flavors and recipes that have those will pop up.
  • This site has a nice big search button with just what you're looking for.

Happy Mixing!

I just mixed for the first time a few days ago and here's what I mixed up

  1. Strawberry Custard: 8% TFA Strawberry, 6% CAP VC1

  2. Berries & Cream: 7% TFA Strawberry, 4% TFA Strawberry(Ripe), 2% CAP VC1, 1.5% TFA Bav Cream

  3. Soft Cookies: 8% CAP Sugar Cookie V1, 4% CAP VC1, 2% TFA Graham Crust

  4. Strawberry Cookie: 6% TFA Strawberry(Ripe), 4% CAP Sugar Cookie V1, 3% TFA Bav Cream, 2% CAP VC1, 1.5% TFA Strawberry

  5. Cookie Crust: 7% CAP Sugar Cookie V1, 2% TFA Graham Crust

Looking for a variation with these flavors or with additions to make them better (all opinions welcomes). My whole stash: TFA Dragonfruit, Strawberry, Strawberry(Ripe), Bavarian Cream, Cheesecake (Graham Crust), CAP Sugar Cookie V1, Vanilla Custard V1

Please help with a sweet+ripe strawberry flavor with some Dragonfruit and a different strawberry vanilla custard if you've got one.

Some flavors I had on my list to try: INW Biscuit, DIYFS HV\HHGRY4, TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream\Honeydew\Whipped Cream, FA Yellow Cake\Meringue\Red Touch and CAP NY Cheesecake\French Vanilla\Harvest Berry\Sweetener

perhaps this is really lame and silly- and maybe it doesn't even belong in this thread- but i have an idea and i'd like help from more experienced mixers. i don't even care if someone else would like to take the idea and run with it, i'm not after anything other than a pleasant vape experience for myself AND i'm a game of thrones fan that is a little excited for the new upcoming season.

say- we look at each Serious Business house right now- there's the red keep, aka fort cercei- there's daenerys's zone or whatever, and there's john snow & castle black- is it dumb to want themed recipes for each? has this already been done? am i picking low hanging fruit?

my imagination goes toward a castle black recipe that looks something like- inw's black for pipe 3% fa's 7 leaves 2% cap's fig 1.5% inw's nougat 1.5% and tfa's brown sugar 0.75%.

idk about red keep, maybe some strawberry shit. what does money and regret and loneliness taste like? wine. cercei was a wine drinker before her occultist imprisonment, maybe she still is. strawberry wine. that sounds like a sad country song. perfect.

daenerys probs gonna be dragon fruit something. idk.

have fun with it! or don't. whatever. just an idea.

something bloody and maybe a little sweaty. probs inw's biscuit and tpa's butter for the crust. *gags

Dorne would probably have some FA Desert Ship and maybe FA Cinnamon Ceylon.

by ID10-Tover 8 years agoWinner of the 2nd DIYorDIE World Mixing Championship

Got you covered on the daenerys recipe already.

Would love to see some other GoT themed recipes. 100% agree on the strawberry wine idea.

Should Castle Black be really cold? Or should there be a North of the Wall recipe that's icy AF?

by bhamcatmaybeover 8 years ago

ok, mother of dragons has been on my list to make for a while now, not sure why it hasn't happened yet. oh, you were right about cap's vanilla whipped cream- an excellent sub in longing, A++ juice! i actually just ordered flv's cream anyhow tho, it seems useful.

re: castle black, for some reason i wanted that to be a really dark tobacco thing that was sort of like, sad/angry old man-ish. and i guess i was thinking a white walker type of recipe could incorporate a bunch of koolada or whatever. according to teh searchbar there's already a white walker recipe from two years ago that looks alright? not sure if related to GoT or not but no bother.

Kiwi (double) TPA Strawberry TPA Strawberry ripe TPA Strawberry sweet CAP

Looking for a strawberry kiwi but can't make one work from these, I got plenty of other flavors tho but specifically looking for a strawberry kiwi mix

2 points

by HashSlingingSlashurover 8 years ago

Never used that kiwi. . I would grab FA kiwi or FW kiwi but for now try

5% kiwi

2% sweet strawberry

4% ripe strawberry

To clarify you have TPA kiwi not kiwi double right

1 points

by rryanhhhhover 8 years ago

Oh you what it is double kiwi

2 points

by HashSlingingSlashurover 8 years ago

so try 1-2% kiwi double and work up from there if it isn't enough kiwi

This is actually the only recipe I have tried that was tasty! I have also tried mixing some lemon in, and taking out a bit of strawberry, that was decent as well.

2 points

You could also do a strawberry apple lemonade.

by kindgroundover 8 years agoDiketones, Schmiketones

I wish you had some lime. I'd point you to my coconut mojito recipe [here] (https://www.reddit.com/r/mixersclub/comments/5te0rw/march_submissions/demhqvb) with some subs. You may try replacing the lime with lemon though. Like 4% LA Lemonade and 1% FA Lemon Sicily in place of the limes/aurora.

EDIT IDK if you're aware or not but 6% LA Lemonade and .75-1% FA Lemon Sicily makes a killer lemonade base.

1 points

by zachpentyover 8 years ago

Dang, that sounds delicious! Looks like theres a few other flavours I would have to buy as well though... I'll save this one and grab the flavours on my next order!

And yes, I think that lemonade base is the same base from Best Damn Pink Lemonade, which is great but I found it had a huge throat hit which I couldn't really get passed...

2 points

by ID10-Tover 8 years agoWinner of the 2nd DIYorDIE World Mixing Championship

It looks like you bought everything you needed to make make my pina colada recipe. Did you try that already?

Try this: 2.5% CAP Sweet Cream, 1.5% FA Cream Fresh, 1% TFA Dragonfruit, 2% TFA Orange Cream, 3% INW Pineapple. Pineapple Orange Cream Smoothie - let it steep for 10 days Orange Cream really needs that time.

What /u/twisted_dick recommended looks great to me too, except I'd probably swap the Cap golden and INW pineapple %s.

and what /u/kindground added about the lemonade base... you have everything for Best Damn Pink Lemonade and you could add a little Sweet Cream and Cream Fresh to that and make something like a frosted lemonade, or replace the raspberry and strawberry with pineapples for a pineapple lemonade if that sounds good to you.

2 points

by zachpentyover 8 years ago

Hahaha you guys are very observant! The two recipes I have bought for are Pina Colada and Best Damn Pink Lemonade... Although both I found to have a really harsh throat hit (mixing at 3mg nic) and i'm not sure what flavouring is really giving it. I will definitely try that "frosted lemonade" though, that sounds like a smoother variation.

I will try out that Pineapple Orange Cream Smoothie, thank you!

You guys are so helpful.... <3

1 points

by ID10-Tover 8 years agoWinner of the 2nd DIYorDIE World Mixing Championship

It could be your nic, unless you've made other things with it that weren't harsh, but both of those recipes (pina colada and best damn) have ingredients (citrus and pineapple) that some people just can't take, throat wise, my best guess would be the lemon sicily and the TFA pineapple, you might not be able to tolerate those at all.

You might want to make single flavor tests of all of those flavors to isolate which ones are not for you, and that's good practice for creating your own recipes in the future anyway, single flavor testing and taking notes.

what do you thinkk?

TFA - RY4 Double Flavor ml: 30 ml

TFA - Menthol Liquid (PG) ml: 30 ml

TFA - Spearmint Flavor ml: 30 ml

TFA - Apple Flavor ml: 30 ml

TFA - Cappuccino Flavor ml: 30 ml

TFA - Western Flavor ml: 60 ml

TFA - Irish Cream II Flavor ml: 30 ml

FW - Cinnamon Churro Flavor ml: 30 ml

1 points

by ID10-Tover 8 years agoWinner of the 2nd DIYorDIE World Mixing Championship

I think TFA Western is a nice robust tobacco flavor that you should try mixing in in simple, two ingredient recipes to find which pairings taste the best to you.

Try Western 3% +

  1. RY4 Double 3%
  2. Menthol 1%
  3. Spearmint 1%
  4. Apple 4%
  5. Cappuccino 1%
  6. Irish Cream 3%
  7. Cinnamon Churro 2%

If you really like two or more of these pairings, you might combine them successfully into a three- or-four ingredient recipe, adjusting the %'s to taste.

Great! Add those to the "try with Western" list at 5% Bavarian and 3% French Vanilla Deluxe.

Also try RY4 Double 3%, French Vanilla Deluxe 2%, Bavarian Cream 1%.

And RY4 Double 4.5%, Apple 3%, French Vanilla Deluxe 1%.

Put my stash into ELR and used the feature to give me recipes and it gave me nothing. So here goes ;

FA

Custard

Strawberry

Catalan creme

Maple syrup

Peach

DIYFS

Holy Vanilla

TFA

Carmel

Absinthe

Dulce de leche

CAP

Bavarian cream

Vanilla custard V1.

Thanks in advance

You can make tasty stuff.

Double Vanilla Custard: Vanilla Custard 6%, Holy Vanilla 2%, Bavarian Cream 2%.

You could also try substituting 4% FA Strawberry or 3% FA Peach in place of the Bavarian Cream for a strawberry or peach custard. Just be sure to let it steep for a week.

Here is my list.

http://i.imgur.com/G9JIqgX.png

Got quite a few different flavors. It really seems to me that i bought a lot of duds. Im liking the more expensive stuff better like the stuff from flavourart and capella taste great to me. But a loooot of those TFA flavors i have are just really kinda ehhh. Not sure if im just mixing them wrong or what. Im not really into the bakery types of vapes. Im more of a fruit person. My favorite juice is the heisenberg from innevape. Ive tried a couple clones but they call for (anise )black licorice and i dont believe thats in the innevape version.

Heres the heisenberg in question http://www.store.innevape.com/heisenberg-the-blue/ if anyone knows a good replica that would be awesome. It reminds me of like the last sip from a blue raspberry slushy where all the flavor kinda concentrates into that last drink of it. or maybe like a blue powerade flavor.

2 points

by ID10-Tover 8 years agoWinner of the 2nd DIYorDIE World Mixing Championship

No clue on the Heisenburg but are you looking for more of a frut & cream or a straight-up fruit recipe?

2 points

by IKROWNIover 8 years ago

The only thing I really like that's kinda creamy is the goldilocks clone. I like banana but not with strawberry. Kinda like straight fruit mixes more.

2 points

by ID10-Tover 8 years agoWinner of the 2nd DIYorDIE World Mixing Championship

Try 5% TFA Pear, 4% TFA Strawberry, 3% CAP Sweet Mango, and 1% TFA Juicy Peach. Unlike most all-fruit recipes, that one will need a steep though. About a week for the pear to not be so rough.

You should really try OSDIY's Blue Raspberry Slushie flavor.

2 points

by cheekygorillaover 8 years ago

Funny how you asked for heisenberg because my friend wanted me to try and make a clone of it. I found a recipe online that might work. I haven't tried it but if you end up making it let me know if it works!!

Blueberry, .4 ml (capella) or 8 drops

Blueberry Jam, .4ml (capella) 16 drops

Blue Raspberry Cotton Candy, .4ml (capella) 8 drops

Jelly Candy .4ml or 8 drops (capella)

Green Apple, .8ml or 16 drops (capella)

Spearmint 1 drop...(capella)

My first order was mostly to make the Tamamango recipe I read about here but I also added some extra things and made sure lime Tahiti was a bigger bottle since I love lime:

Flavor Apprentice Cotton Candy

FLavor apprentice mango

Flavour Art Lime Tahiti 15%

Lychee (TPA)

Mango (Flavorah)

Mango (Inawera)

Peach (Flavorah)

Strawberry Shisha (Inawera)

Sweet Mango (Cap)

Sweetener (Flavor West)

Sweetener (Sucralose) (TPA)

1 points

by ID10-Tover 8 years agoWinner of the 2nd DIYorDIE World Mixing Championship

If you want a straight up mango that really tastes like a mango, 3% FLV, 1.5% CAP Sweet, 1% TFA, 0.5% Cotton Candy will get you that. Add Sweetener to taste (0.25 to 1%).

If that sounds boring or like it would get boring over time, but you still want to make a mango-centric juice, have a Strango (add Shisha Strawberry 2%) or a Peachango (add FLV Peach 1.5%) or just squeeze lime all over your mango (add FA Lime ... Is that cold-pressed or distilled? either way 1.5%).

by spamhitover 8 years ago

Thanks man! I feel like trying all the mango.

Let the mango be unchained!

Anybody have any recommendations what to make with these flavors??? Like percentages or anything like that? I really want to make a recipe using the donut and fruit circles 70/30 vg/pg base

Blueberry extra- tfa

Strawberry(wild)-tfa

Graham cracker- tfa

Fruit circles- tfa

Frosted donut- tfa (really wanna use this)

Vanilla swirl- tfa (heard this adds some creaminess to certain recipes)

1 points

by ID10-Tover 8 years agoWinner of the 2nd DIYorDIE World Mixing Championship

Have you tried donut and fruit circles individually yet? The reason they're not very popular is that people seem to think the fruit circles tastes like lemon pledge and the donut tastes like a bit of cardboard with some frosting on it.

Vanilla Swirl is a wonderful ingredient and might make it possible for you to create something vapeable out of that though, try 3% Fruit Circles, 3% Frosted Donut, 3% Vanilla Swirl, 2% Graham Cracker, 2% Strawberry Wild.

2 points

by cockport716over 8 years ago

I haven't gotten them quite yet to try by their lonesomes. However I will try what you said. Perhaps I'll use 3% fruit circles and 3% vanilla swirl to start

2 points

by ID10-Tover 8 years agoWinner of the 2nd DIYorDIE World Mixing Championship

That's a great idea! Make a small batch of that and see if fruit circles is even something that you want to be messing with before throwing a bunch of other concentrates at it.

lorann - lemonade

FA - Fuji/forrest fruit/lemon sicily/kiwi

TFA- straberry/rassberry

Darkstar - absinthe/black cherry/belgian waffle/beetle juice/ blue ice/ black berry (heard these flavours are a bit shit so no too worried.

i have made 'best damm lemonade' (bit muted tbh, might need a steep) and just made 'backwood lemonade' havent tried it yet.

Was wondering what else. i could do with a bit more throat hit tbh, but like i say it could be my build.

3 points

by ID10-Tover 8 years agoWinner of the 2nd DIYorDIE World Mixing Championship

Try replacing the 3% Forest Fruit in Backwoods Lemonade with 2% FA Kiwi and 1% FA Fuji. Kiwapple Lemonade.

2 points

by NotwankdsinceNAMover 8 years ago

Trying it now thanks. Would a higher Pg ratio give me more flavour and throat hit? Current doing 80vg

2 points

by ID10-Tover 8 years agoWinner of the 2nd DIYorDIE World Mixing Championship

Yes, it absolutely would. I mix everything at 70vg because of the versatility - I can drip it without too much throat, I can put it in any tank without wicking issues or leaking issues - and because I get plenty of flavor.

What kind of setup are you using? You say you could do with more throat hit... If I were you, I'd mix my next batch 60vg and if that's too thin for satisfying clouds or causes issues with your setup, work up by 5% until you find what is right for you.

2 points

by NotwankdsinceNAMover 8 years ago

Done your mix with 70%vg this time and i got some throat hit thats for sure :) got some taste there too, but i have had a couple glasses of scotch so i am a bit numb, thankyou

It will take about a week to 10 days to be all it can be. But that doesn't mean you can't enjoy it fresh. Go ahead and try it and if you don't like it all that much, then put it away for a week. Which apricot is that?

hello every bodies i have just recently started to vape again after 3 years.. i was tired of all the same stuff device wise... now i have discovered the new mods and sub-ohm tanks.. i use to be an electrician so rolling my own coils was a must right from the start.. and fact that i have 3 kids and being the bread winner of my house-hold i like to save money where-ever possible so "DIYorDIE"!!!! right. so with that you can guess i mix my own juices also or am trying to and would like to even be able to just get one daily vape that will work until i can afford to purchase more flavoring.. i have mixed 10 different variations of juice trying things out, now i know im new at this and will have a learning curve to it all.. im taking as many notes as possible to learn everything about the flavors i can. I really love the fruit sweet or sour flavors as long as the sour is sour and not just a harsh hit i dont like overbearing sweet where i gotta drink some water afterwards i dont mind creams tobaccos and all the others also as long as its tasty and not crap.. that being said you can see that i like the sweet fruits if i can fet them to mix right... plz help someone... all my flavors are from (TFA)
#apple candy #blackberry #blueberry wild #cantaloupe #cucumber #dragonfruit #honeydew melon II #watermelon candy #raspberry sweet #hawaiian drink #citrus punch #sour #sweetener again all are (TFA) P.S. what are some of the regular helpers on these threads list of flavorings if some dont mind giving out such private info...lol thanks to whom ever

Try them all after just an overnight steep. If you find them to be a little too sharp or to have any unpleasant notes, put them away for a week and then try them again.

so ive tried the first mix after it steeping for over a week now and its come out ok but not the best as in a sense that it has a very heavy citrus punch you in the mouth flavor to it would definetly want to tone that part of it down and add a sweetner to it just a dash and maby some type of cream im ordering more flavors today all from TPA ANY RECOMENDATIONS TO TRY OR SOME YOU MAY WANT TO HEAR A TESTER ON

Sweetener 1% ought to help with that citrus punch being too punchy.

Recommendations on what to get? All from TFA? I don't know how many you plan on picking up, but: Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, Vanilla Swirl, Strawberry, Strawberry Ripe, Bavarian Cream, Cheesecake Graham Crust, Marshmallow, Pear, Juicy Peach, Honeysuckle, Pineapple, Papaya, Mango, Blueberry Extra, Graham Cracker Clear, Watermelon, Champagne, and Banana Cream. In that order so if you only get the first half-dozen or so that will still greatly increase the number of tasty things you can make.

Just started mixing for the first time this week. I ignorantly just bought a few decently rated flavors instead of purchasing based on recipes. I also bought 1L of 70/30 instead of purchasing VG/PG separately, which is already proving to be a pain. Any suggestions using the following?

FA Red Touch (Strawberry) FW Blueberry TFA Watermelon CAP Golden Pineapple CAP Sweet Mango CAP Hondeydew CAP Vanilla Custard Lotus - Banana Flavors Express - Lemon

Do your future self a huge favor and make single flavor testers of each of those. Take good notes on what you're tasting. Flavor pairings and recipes that will probably taste better to you than anything someone could suggest here will probably start coming to you when you that. Personally, I like to make three different single-flavor tests of every flavor, to get a good a idea of the range, of how that flavor tastes at different concentrations.

But you didn't ask for advice, you asked for suggestions, so try:

FA Strawberry 4% + FW Blueberry 4% + FE Lemon 0.5% (simple mixed berry)

CAP Honeydew 2.5% + FW Blueberry 2% + FA Strawberry 3% (melon berry)

CAP Honeydew 2.5% + TFA Watermelon 5% + CAP Golden Pineapple 2% + CAP Sweet Mango 1% (tropical melon)

Lotus Banana 1.5% + CAP Vanilla Custard 6% + FA Strawberry 3% (and steep for two weeks) (strawnana custard)

Thanks for the suggestions, and for the advice! When you make 3 testers to get an idea of a flavor's range, what percentages do you make? Something like 1/3/5%?

I look around to see how others have used it (in the flavor reviews here and elsewhere in this sub, on alltheflavors.com, at DIYorDIE, on ELR, where bought it and elsewhere there might be customer reviews) and the make one that's a the low end of that, one that seems to be the average, and one that's really high. For some flavors, that will indeed be like 1/3/5. For others it might be 2.5/5/7.5. The last one I tested was at 1/1.75/2.5.

You might see some people saying to test TFA and CAP at 5%, FA and INW at whatever %, but that's not the best way to go about it because there are so many exceptions. 5% is a great middle of the road concentration of many TFA flavors, for example, but 5% TFA Blackberry would be horrendous while 0.75% TFA Blackberry tastes great.

So if you're planning to test your flavors and start building your own personal collection of flavor notes, look around before testing them. Or ask around! Few people would mind getting a message that says, "I see you used x in your x recipe, I'm new to this flavor and wanting to single-flavor test it, can you recommend a good % or range of %s?"

The 3 fruit juices all turned out great, and I've got the strawnana custard steeping. Can't thank you enough, amazing suggestions.
