Setup: Serpent Mini 25mm, Dual SS .22 ohms. 100W power, 500F temp limit. Full Cotton Wicks.
Testing: FLV Oatmeal Raisin @ .5% & 3% 60/40 VG/PG, Steeped 1 day, 3% Steeped 1 week.
Flavor Description: When used at .5% you get a predominantly raisin flavor from it with some more mellow baked oatmeal cookie notes in the background. It has a light brown sugary butter note that goes very well with the oatmeal flavor. It needs some help on the cookie side of it though. The raisin tastes inline to a dark fruit baked flavor that seems faithful to what it is suppose to be. This is a good base to work with if you're wanting to make a oatmeal raisin type flavor. It tastes pretty good even though it's just a tad bit unbalanced between the oatmeal and the raisin.
At 2.5%-3% this is absolutely rancid. You get a disgusting raisin taste that lingers in your tank/RDA similar to TFA Honeydew. Not much to say for this percentage because you simply do not want/need to use this flavor at this high of a percentage.
Off Flavors: The raisin flavor can be a little more forward than you might like but nothing you wouldn't expect to taste from this flavor.
Throat Hit: Nothing at .5%-3%.
Notes: First impressions were this flavor smells putrid. It's very off putting when you take a whiff from the bottle. This is a strong flavor that will over take everything in a mix if used too high. Keep this low; .25%-75% would be my recommendation.
Second Opinions:
Bullcityflavors review - This flavor smells strong out of the bottle. Smells almost overwhelming. It is a super turn off until you try it. I had it sitting around for 2 months because I was honestly put off. I mixed it at .25% and it is amazing. Wonderful oatmeal raisin cookie taste. Mix with custard, vanilla, marshmallow, frosting. Super good!!!
Alltheflavors has a recipe using it that I tried. All I could taste was a disgusting raisin mess; I personally think 2.5% is way too much.
I recommend this recipe a lot more.
Oatmeal Raisin Cookies & Cream - All Flavorah
1% Marshmallow
1% Cotton Candy
1% Custard
.75% Vanilla Custard
.5% Cream
.5% Vanilla Pudding
.5% Oatmeal Raisin
.25% Macaroon
Great notes. I'd try this flavor in a some tobaccos too, like oriental, arabian cured or red burley. The raisin strength should push through against the other strong ashy/musty tobacco notes.
I've bought every Oatmeal concentrate on I can find, besides this one. Please oh please OP, could you go into how upfront the oatmeal is? I'm at a loss with this oatmeal dillema, as I need a very oat-y (?) grain form my white whale clone, Symmetry Six from 5pawns.
I've read Boba's Bounty tasted like oatmeal cookie, and was composed primarily of tobaccos, so I've gone down that experimental avenue as well.
A sincere thank you for this review, and the timing thereof!
The raisin is a lot more forward than the oatmeal is. The oatmeal taste is more on the second half of this concentrate. I think this would be a good concentrate to bring out the flavor you're looking for along with other bakery type flavors. It's not super oaty or grainy by any means but the flavor is there. I don't think it's going to as pronounced as you want alone but I think you can shift it in that direction for sure.
Have you had any luck with OOO oatmeal? I too am trying to find a good oatmeal flavor to recreate an oatmeal cream pie.
Ehh, not yet exactly. I've had a few bottles steeping for 2ish weeks, from 0.5%, 2%, 5% and I'm hoping another two weeks will help, because at this point...Ehh.
It tastes, at this point, similar to something I feel improper comparing it to. However, there is worst things online, so I apologize for any offense. I have been known to be exceptionally hungover, and umm... Well, to relieve myself upon entering a hot shower. Instead of oatmeal, they should call it "hangover pissed in a hot shower bread".
There are some oaty notes, but a distinct off flavor. I'm praying it steeps out, as it's not even as gpod as TPA Oatmeal Cookie at this point, and we all know how great (ehem) that flavor is.
