Why is Liquid Barn nicotine yellow?
submitted over 8 years ago by jkernan7553

From what I understand, it should be clear unless oxidized, in which case it turns pinkish. On LB's own website they say their nicotine is "Pale Yellow to Dark Yellow"....what am I misunderstanding?

I assume potency plays a role. My 100mg isn't peppery or bad, but it is yellowish.

I have 100mg as well. Never had it yellow though either.

A lot of this has to do with how the nicotine Is processed, and this is often reflected in price. Carolina extract's nic doesn't see oxygen until you open the bottle, hence the clear color and lack of scent.

At least it isn't Nicotine Wholesaler's where it's dark pink, almost red. All of my juices look the same now.

Yeah I would look into buying from someone else. They're selling you oxidized nicotine. It should have the slightest hint of barely yellow to clear as water color. I get chemnovatic from heartland vapes and it's crystal clear. Hell, even buying from Nicotine River you'll get unoxidized nicotine for a good price.

Pink or red usually means direct exposure to sunlight.

I called the company when I first got it and the guy tried telling me it was pink because of how few impurities are in it. No joke. Then he said they won't do refunds for oxidized nicotine.

Wow, are you talking about this company? I think this goes unsaid but that is 100% bullshit. That is some real shady shit.

Unless it's beginning to oxidize, the nicotine should be completely clear.

A small level of oxidation may not effect the taste of the juice, but may effect its shelf life. If you vape it right away and don't notice any peppery flavor, it's still OK.

I've purchased nicotine from Carolina Extract and Nude Nicotine for the last 2-years and it is always crystal clear and flavorless.
