I've been vaping for a while and lurking this subreddit for months. I finally took the plunge and made my first order of stuff last week. This morning I made my first recipe and I'm blown away at how easy and rewarding it was! It tastes better than any juice I've bought in the past!
Thank you to everyone in the subreddit!
The recipe I made:
- TFA Strawberry Ripe 7%
- TFA Bavarian Cream 3%
- TFA Graham cracker clear 2%
- TFA RY4 Double 2%
VG 60%
PG 40%
3mg nic
Yep, it's totally easy! Just be ultra careful with your nicotine.
I am super careful and had a near miss last year. I was at my desk mixing and was reading webmd. I had prostatitis (undiagnosed at the time) and my nuts were killing me. Naturally, it took me strait to "You have fucking cancer! Code RED!" I remember getting hot and the room started turning red...
So I also have a feinting disorder, also undiagnosed at the time. I woke up covered in coffee and ejuice, face down on my desk. I knocked over literally everything other than my full bottle of 100mg nicotine, which was open. I was covered in 6mg ejuice, thankfully.
Now I open the bottle, measure out my nicotine and close it immediately. Nothing other than keeping the bottle closed while not 100% focused on it could have prevented my untimely death - had my arms/face smashed into it like everything else on my table.
Stay cautious and happy mixing!
Everyone tends to over hype the "I could've died from my nicotine spills" but in this scenario, yes, you would've died. Probably would've been one of the biggest news stories against vaping too. Glad you survived tho.
How do you know he would he have died from 100mg?
He didn't even say what size of a bottle it was. You say overhype then overhype yourself.
Good advice. This reminds me of an incident I had a few years ago.
I had been up late drinking, and passed out sitting up in my living room. When I opened my eyes and decided to go to bed, I realized my contact lenses were extremely dry and my vision was blurry. I stumbled over to this table where I keep my keys, wallet etc. to grab my rewetting eye drops. I squeezed a drop into my eye and immediately knew something was wrong....
Instantly started yelling when I realized I had just squeezed some menthol e-juice into my eye. Luckily it was nic-free, just a tiny bottle I used to add menthol to flavors in my tank. That was one of the worst mistakes I ever made, lol.
Am I a bad person if that made me laugh? So sorry, but it's really funny :)
Nope! The doctor who diagnosed my prostatitis found my fainting to be hilarious as well. He asked me to tell him each time I've fainted in my life and I'm like, "Wife giving birth, WebMD, before wife gave birth the second time... like before even being induced, hitting a blunt and then getting scared I was going to be busted"
I guess my body sucks at fight or flight and just knocks me right out if fight isn't an option lmao. "Time for you to play dead bro"
I'm really careful with my nic, when starting fearful even, using 24 then 48 base and diluting from that when I started out. Now I am comfortable mixing with 100mg and not wearing gloves, just always conscious of what I am doing and putting the nic away after using. I have dogs and definitely don't want a spill around them. Once while mixing and rinsing out a bunch of bottles with distilled water (which is what I do for prepping them), I forgot that I had added nic to them already, (the couple mls at the bottom of a 120 looks like residual water in a bottle) and I shook out the (what I thought was distilled water) all over myself accidentally. Immediately realizing the mistake I stripped, closed the door to the room and yelled at my wife....don't let the dogs into the den... - was a good thing I realized the issue immediately. Then jumped in the shower, stat!
I find it relaxing and rewarding toying with flavors, a great hobby with the benefit of keeping me off the smokes.
Netflix and Spill.
If you like RY4, look for Custard King, my daily. I'm going to give yours a try.
Glad you did it man. The barrier is cost of entry. Once through the barrier you're almost immediately back in the black.
...Until the psychosis of collecting and tweaking overcomes every fibre of your fragile being.
I do fuck all here but you're more than welcome.
And yeah it's been brought up a few times it's a lot more intimidating than it first seems. Guessing you mixed by weight?
Yes mixed by weight!
I myself tried DIY like 5 years ago and promptly gave up quickly.... there was extremely little info back then on it.
But one thing I can say now (that I'm back in it full swing), is if it wasn't for mixing by weight, I'd probably not be doing it. It's just so damn easy to mix by weight.
How much did it cost you?
I started for under $100 and had supplies for a month.
Ordered some more flavors and VG, lasted two more months. The nicotine will be around for a year+. It's insanely efficient.
what mg/ml do you vape, I have trouble going lower than 10-12, and find im ordering nicotine every month
but I also order 48mg vs 100 just cause im not careful and know 100 can fuck shit up when i spill
Be safe with highly concentrated nicotene. Been mixing over 2 years, had one accident with 72mg. Lid wasn't properly seated, tried to shake bottle, dumped 200ml of vg 72mg all over my bare skin.( I had no shirt on). VG doesnt wipe off easily, and it was on my skin in some areas for maybe 3mins as I was trying to wipe away, resulted in what I'd describe as sort of heavily aggravated skin. Please always wear clothes and gloves with highly concentrated nic.
Great to hear! Everyone is always blown away when I tell them I make my own juice. As if it's some sort of rocket science. When they taste it they go nuts and want a bottle of it. I get to explaining how simple it is and in time some of them have been able to provide me with some of their own unique and tasty juices.
Good luck in your future concoctions!!
Would love some input... I have everything that I need to do up some diy...I won a starter kit from VW, and it came with the pre-mixed nic. I have been a huge fan/follower of e-liquid recipes, and wondering, when adapting a recipe using the tools, just a bit confused as to filling in all the quantities properly...wont let you procede if you dont! Also, I'm solely a tank user, and 80/20 minimum due to a pg sensitivity...any suggestions on increased flavor % to make up for this? Thanks in advance for any advice!
