A good tart lemon extract
submitted over 8 years ago by doctormink

I've been trying to make a really lemony lemonade. I had been vaping Vapetasia's pink lemonade, and I'm trying to produce something equally tart. However, I keep falling short.

I've been using a bit of FA Lemon II, Capella pink lemonade and a dash of FW lemon meringue pie for good measure. However, I can't seem to get a good level of tartness/sourness without the mix getting too floral. Any suggestions to tarten things up as it were

I just tried to shake and vape some strawberry lemonade using an adapted recipe. The lemon came out pretty subtle, and more candy lemon than fresh lemon flavor.

I bumped up the Lemonade to about 12% and it's still weak for my liking.

I'm gonna let it steep for a bit, but in the meantime, do you have any suggestions for how to use LA lemonade? What percent do you usually use it at?

Fresh Strawberry Lemonade

Ingredient|% :---|---: Lemonade (LA)|10 Strawberry (Ripe) (TPA)|5 +1 drop TFA sour per 10ml

BTW in case it helps OP, this recipe is well reviewed, and uses FW Lemonade (natural) at 8%

I've vaped a lot of LA Lemonade and you definitely used too much. It thrives at 5-6%. It's very subtle but has a great flavor profile. But it needs pairing for a good, true lemonade flavor.

Id drop the LA Lemonade down to 4-5% and introduce FW Lemonade at a similar percentage, maybe a bit lower at 3-4% as to not overpower the LA too much.

I agree. I couldn't imagine using it at more than 7%. 5-6% sits really well with most other fruits. Lemon Sicily really helps it pop, to me.

I came across that tip in the Best Damn Pink Lemonade recipe. I haven't made a lemonade flavor without it since.

As the other two have said, that is about twice as much LA Lemonade as you need

4% maybe 5%.... add some lemon Sicily at 1%

You could be using so much that it is muting the flavor. Maybe try la lemonade at like 3 or 4%

If you want full bore sour, tart lemon go for INW Lemon Mix. Here's the flavor review, great comments in there too. Worth repeating it's potent and can easily get weird if you overdo it.

A lot of the more commonly used lemon flavors are really sweet dessert lemons or like kool-aid instant lemonade. Not saying they don't have their place, but they don't read as tart.

/u/ID10-T/ has a great, simple lemonade recipe that isn't a sugar bomb.

A couple people are recommending the INW, which is a pity because it's looking hard to find in Canada.

Infinite Vaper carries INW, and has Lemon Mix.

American though? I'm pulling up a Minnesota company. Edit: Never mind, that was Infinite Vapor, Infinite Vaper is Canadian. Woot!

Wow, their shipping is really pricey for a place that's so close to me. Prices aren't really competitive either, and their payment set up is pretty complicated an annoying. I hope that by the time I've run out I've coaxed another place to stock the lemon mix.

Try FA Lemon Sicily.... It appears a lot of lemon tart recipes use that.

LA Lemonade or RF Lemonade SC with a little INW Lemon thrown in is my go to lemonade base.

I just recently got the Real Flavors Lemonade and its fantastic.

Yeah that rf lemonade is excellent. Tried at 2% solo and it's like a nice homemade lemonade not too sweet not too sour.

I finally got my hands on LA lemonade, and it is amazing with the lemon mix and a touch of LA grapefruit!

I recommend adding a bit of fa sour wizard to your mix. It wouldn't need to be very high so you get a sour vape but just a touch like .25% or .5% would change the ph levels of your juice and give you some tartness and make the flavors pop a little more.

FE Lemon with a dash of INW Lemon Mix is my go-to for kickass lemon-y goodness

Try inw lemon at .25 % mixed with your other lemons. Inw lemon is a really really strong lemon candy, but at low percentages it makes a good supporting lemon.

Edit: damn autocorrect inawera lemon

The tartness comes from the magic that is Vapetasia......... We put a little bit of that magic in every bottle :p

That damn Vapetasia magic! No wonder I can't replicate it! It's not you guys, I promise, it was my B&M that left me disillusioned by discontinuing all my go-to brands. It's funny how I'm rationing out my very last bottle right now as I stumble around with my mixing, forcing myself to vape my own stuff instead of yours so that I can make this final bottle last.

The struggle is very real my friend.
