Strawberry Dream

First off, I’d like to apologize because yes, this is yet another strawberries and cream profile…oh god no, not another one… but wait! could it be that this is the one that you have been longing for? Could it be the one that you can actually taste the strawberry in strawberries and cream? The one that is not too sweet, but sweet enough and not too creamy but creamy enough? The one that is so smooth, so delicious, that you can't seem too put it down? The one that could be your next ADV? Well that is a choice you will just have to make after you down your first 30 ml tester and double up on the next run!

Presenting my take on one of the most mixed profiles….

Strawberry Dream

Manufacturer | Flavour | % ---------|----------|---------- TPA | Strawberry Ripe | 4% JF | Sweet Strawberry | 3.25% DIYFS | Holy Vanilla | 1.5% FA | Fresh Cream | 1.5% FA | Vienna Cream | 0.5% FW | Hazelnut | 0.5%

Steep Time:

1+ weeks

Profile:

Sweet strawberry inhale followed by a smooth milky exhale and a strawberry finish that lingers.

The breakdown:

Strawberry:

My new favourite strawberry combines Sweet Strawberry (JF) and Strawberry Ripe (TFA), especially since I have a hard time tasting strawberries and this I taste! Together these two work wonders together. Sweet strawberry is sweet, syrupy, and perfect for this profile. After 7 days it makes its way past the creams and sits on top of this recipe. It is enhanced and balanced by Strawberry Ripe’s realism of a fresh, greenish strawberry. SR is the back bone that carries SS and allows the two to harmoniously play together, creating what I feel is a sweet accurate and very present tasting strawberry.

Milk/Cream:

I wanted this to be more a milky blanket of cream for which the strawberry can sit on. Balance was key in creating this part of the recipe. With so many different rich, thick, creamy flavourings to choose from, I felt FA was the way to go. I’d like to add that it wasn’t before many variations of different combinations of Bavarian Cream, Custards, Sweet Creams etc. that I decided to go with FA. Cream Fresh (FA) at 1.5% and Vienna Cream (FA) at 0.5% have been my long favourite authentic cream combination. Fresh Cream is smooth, velvety, mellow, and almost has a slight sour cream note, which works well with strawberries by adding some tang. It is the body of the cream for which the other flavourings layer onto. Vienna Cream on the other hand is rich, sweet, and starts to fill out the cream profile. It does not have any eggy notes that can weigh down a mix. The next ingredient is one I hold closest to my heart, I use it in a lot of recipes to add sweetness and an authentic vanilla note, Holy Vanilla (DIYFS). It isn’t too creamy or heavy at 1.5% and combines with Cream Fresh and Vienna Cream, by adding more depth and sweetness and really fills out the cream profile. The last ingredient is Hazelnut (FW) and at 0.5% it is used to transform the creams into a milky-cream by adding an additional sweet, creamy, malty, nutty note, which really is the cherry on the top to finish the cream profile.

So, that’s that, my strawberry milk to add to your collection of strawberry and cream recipes. I like this a lot because it is incredibly smooth, not rich or complex, and just satisfyingly delicious! Give it a mix and don’t say I didn’t warn you when you finish your tester and begin to panic when it’s all gone.

P.S. If you want that "Premium" taste and can't fathom trying to steep this, try adding 1-2 drops of Super Sweet (CAP) per 30ml. It'll make the strawberry pop, but I honestly recommend a steep to let the inherent sweetness of the flavourings come out because it is there.

Looks good! I have a 120ml of DIYFS Holy Vanilla and I've been looking for something to use it in. I don't have hazelnut but I might sub it with FA Almond.

I don't think that will quite work. FA Almond is a particularly nutty flavoring, and FW Hazelnut isn't. Hazelnut is more of a... creamy, slightly nutty, emulsifying type of flavor. You might be able to leave out FW Hazelnut and increase FA Vienna Cream by .5% or so. It won't taste exactly the same, but it should still be pretty good. Or just leave out the FW Hazelnut altogether.

I've been sitting on this bottle for about a year, but I bought it online from their website.

What /u/Ephelus said, I would just leave it out and up the Vienna for the loss of a layer of cream and sweetness. Although, without it, the cream note will not have that same milky quality that the added hazelnut does to the profile. It truly is the final layer on the creams that make the profile what it is.

I would actually suggest picking it up. It is such a versatile ingredient that once you try it, you'll start using it quite frequently.

Have you tried fw creamy hazelnut?

I have not. What from I gathered is that it is a little less creamy and sweet and does not have Acetoin. It probably is the closest substitute to FW's Hazelnut but I honestly can't say for sure how it'll work out.

Strawberry Ripe + JF Strawb does create an awesome flavor. I liken it more to an authentic strawberry syrup

I totally agree and I'm quite happy with the results. Before finding JF Sweet Strawberry, all I could taste is a very very mellow strawberry in each of my flavourings. The only other strawberry that I can taste, especially in the mix, is Inawera's Strawberry Shisha, which is more like a hard candy strawberry. I have a version of this recipe with a smidgen of it added and it does add to the strawberry profile, but I wanted to produce something more simple, not overly complex using a ton of flavourings and true to it's flavour profile. When you vape this you know your vaping strawberries and cream.

INW Shisha Straw is also very annoying. When you're working out how much to use. 1% seems too little, but 1.5% overpowers everything, and you're doing iteration after iteration trying to find the right amount.

JF S.Straw is so much simpler. I just do a 5:1 ratio of TFA Ripe : JF S.Straw and I'm golden.

I feel your struggles with shisha strawberry.

I'd really like to see JF come out with a natural strawberry or ripe strawberry, since they nailed down the syrup/jammy strawberry that's for sure

I also get a clove taste from Shisha Strawberry over 1%, myself. It's not bad, but not very useful for a recipe like this.

Please do! I've been patiently waiting for someone to post that they'll mix it up and let me know what they think :)

It's has an interesting steep. It is vape-able as a shake n' vape but the profile changes throughout the first week. Day 1 you taste strawberry, day 2 a little less, day 3 a little less and the creams start to push past the strawberry, but by day 7 the strawberry comes back and sits nicely on top.

Hey man, i mixed this up 3 days ago, as per recipe. Just had my first taste of it today, and i really enjoy it ! It is very very smooth and oh so sweet and jammy strawberry, that is very present to me, which is dope AF since i love strawberry and usually have a hard time tasting it in mixes.

I'm glad i mixed up 50ml to start with, it'll prolly be gone before your 7 days recommended maturing time though.

Cheers for the recipe bud.

I really enjoy the smoothness and if you can hold out for a month, it only gets smoother and better IMO.

I'm glad you're enjoying it though!
