Setup: velocity v2; dual 24g SS316 7 wrap; full cotton wicks
Testing: Pineapple (super concentrate) 2% aged: 3 days 60/40 vg/pg 1mg nic
Flavor description Fresh cut pineapple. This has got it all, I am getting a little of the pineapple flesh along with that tartness you get on the tongue before the sweet juice hits you after you bite down. Really surprised how accurate this flavor is, if you like pineapple I have to recommend trying this.
Off-flavors: Nada
Throat hit: Nope.
Uses: Wow, just use it everywhere. You could probably take this in any direction. Add some bourbon or liquid amber and you got a baked pineapple. Add some rum and coconut candy and you got a pina colada. Throw some fruits at it and you’ve got a tropical mix of your own.
Pairings: (from flavor bible) Banana, caramel, cardamom, chocolate, cinnamon, coconut, cream/ice cream, tropical fruits, ginger, grapefruit, honey, kiwi, lemon, lime, nuts, (macadamia, cashew, pistachio), maple, mint, orange, papaya, passion fruit, pomegranate, raspberry, rum
Notes: Absolutely delicious, IMO better standalone pineapple compared to INW and CAP golden. At 1% the flavor was a bit weak, mostly pineapple top notes. The fruit fills out at 1.5-2% with the fleshy parts and juiciness. More fruity and fleshy than INW and less weirdness/canned pineapple taste than CAP.
Second Opinions Really nothing useful out there. Hope someone else who has tried it chimes in.
I'm a little surprised by this review as I thought the flavor was a bit muted and didn't have as satisfying top notes. I'm not an expert by any means, but I substituted this instead of TFA Pineapple and I really didn't like it. It does have some really fresh flavor and maybe by itself or in a different recipe its delicious, but i found it pretty underwhelming and in regards to off flavors, I was getting a weird after taste from what seemed like the alcohol in the super concentrate. I've tried the pineapple, strawberry and peach super concentrates but the pineapple was probably my least favorite. If anyone has any tips in regards to using the super concentrates let me know cause they can be a little hard to deal with in small quantities. I ended up diluting 1 part concentrate for 4 parts PG but it didn't seem to help with the off flavors i was experiencing. If anyone has any advise as far as what i could have done wrong to get off flavors let me know.
I have not tried this in a mix but I could see how it could get weird if it isn't worked in correctly. It's realistic and that could be where it's fault lies, sometimes realistic fruit isn't what you need in a recipe. The rind/flesh notes could get in the way or just taste weird mixed with other stuff. On its own it is damn tasty. I will report back when I mix it with some non real flavors stuff.
I was going for a pineapple, strawberry and peach mix, all RF super concentrates. Reading your review definitely gave me a better perspective on these flavors, I was ready to toss the pineapple but now I'll have to experiment more. The super concentrates are definitely very different from the TPA's and CAP's. Pineapple and Peach have been sorta hit or miss. The strawberry on the other hand is really strong, comes through really well. The peach seems to disappear pretty easily, and the Pineapple is tricky. Diluting them in PG helped me measure them a bit better because even just doing 10ml can be tricky when you're mixing .15ml etc.
Also what % did you use and what kind of setup are you testing on?
Basically did like, 1% Peach, 2% Pineapple, 1.5% Strawberry, on a Cleito 0.4 coil. Then I diluted them down by 1/5, using 5% peach, 7% Pineapple, 8% strawberry. Turned out a bit better that time but still not the same as what i was getting with the TPA flavors i was using before. Just not very sweet and a weird aftertaste. I get that my testing setup isn't ideal but the weird flavor was definitely from these batches.
Better than CAP golden?! I'll be adding a small bottle to my next order for sure.
CAP golden rubs me the wrong way above like 3% ... I like INW pineapple a lot but I gotta use it at like 5% or more to stand up to most other ingredients otherwise it's really delicious like a pineapple juice.
I know I'm gravedigging here and for that I apologize, but are you talking about INW's pineapple shisha or their straight pineapple flavour?
Every time I take the cap off of the INW pineapple shisha I am overwhelmed with a certainty that I now know how /u/ID10-T/ feels about FA's version. There is something that makes me think of nothing but vomit in the flavour!
I have CAP's golden, which I like, but I am so reluctant to buy additional pineapple concentrates because of both INW's shisha and the FA version (which oddly enough I find more pleasant than INW's).
Thank you!
Anyone get a sort of burnt oil taste from any of these concentrates? Both VG or SC?
I used the VG blueberry muffin in the past, no off tastes. So far everything has been pretty clean tasting, my complaint would be some of them (fruits) are just lacking in body compared to some other fruit flavors out there. And my other complaint is the baklava is lacking texture but I'm going to wait for it to steep 3-4 weeks before I judge, right now it's just rose water basically. It's funny cuz the site doesn't mention rose water but I was actually expecting it anyway because it's supposed to be drizzled on top.
Curious if you where ever able to apply this flavor towards bakery flavors? Curious to how this will play with liquid amber or rum like you mentioned. Looking for a new upside down cake situation.
I only tried it with fruit mixes. I am sure that some liquid amber you could get to where you want to go. I'd start with like 1.5% pineapple and .25% liquid amber =) or maybe 0.5% rum
