OK new mixers, this is your thread to ask any questions you want of the DIY eJuice community. All posts are allowed, but we still encourage you to use the sidebar and search features before asking any questions.
- Placing your first DIY order and want to make sure you have all you need?
- Not sure about how to mix your first bottle?
- Want to get started but aren't sure how?
- Any other questions? ... then this is the thread for you. FWIW, the answers to the first three questions will eventually be found in the wiki (still in development); link at the top of the page.

Long time lurker, first time posting on one of these threads.
I see a lot of recipes that use FW and TFA concentrates with percentages anywhere from 5% all the way to 20%. I used to work at a B&M where all food flavors were mixed at 20% personally have found them to be either super bland or way too strong depending on the flavor used.
What I want to know is if anyone has tested a fair sample size of those two companies and compiled a lovely reference or more accurate percentage range.
I've made some pretty solid recipes where my total flavoring amounts to anywhere from 7% to 15%. And that is dependent upon how complex I'm trying to be. I understand taste is subjective. I just want to hear about other people's experiences.
Thanks guys!
7-15% sounds good to me. I never go higher that that. I have gone lower for single flavors or simple mixes.
Not to mention by using less, you stretch your concentrates. I've always adhered to less is more. Most of us sub ohm anyway and over flavoring is unnecessary.
This is very much a "how long is a piece of string" type question. The shortest recipe I've found that's amazing is 4%, I've also made some amazing ones that are close to 30%. Total flavor percentage alone means nothing.
For instance, INW recommendations are anywhere from 0.25% to 3%. Due to their super concentrated nature. I'm strictly asking single concentrate percentages for FW and TFA. Most places I've seen are recommending 10% to 20% concentrate for single flavors. Which just seems extremely excessive to me. Banana Ripe TFA is an excellent example because anything over 3% lends a very artificial, banana runts flavor and starts going into bland and chemical the higher you go with it.
What I want to know is if anyone has tested a fair sample size of those two companies and compiled a lovely reference or more accurate percentage range. 20% flavoring of a single concentrate is ridiculous to me when you take into consideration most of us predominately are using hardware that "chucks" the clouds.
I must not have specified that in my original post. I'll correct that.
I start with 3-5% for most FW/TPA stuff (single flavor). With the rda/rta's we use today, you shouldn't need much more than that for the large majority of flavorings.
I would go 10% single flavor TPA/FW only if making juice for my icare, even then sometimes you can use less.
Where do you find your best recipes? I've checked out the sidebar but I just want a recipe book, like the one found on alltheflavours. The only bad thing I see on that site is there doesn't seem to be many reviews even on the top flavours, so where is the user refinement?
If I use the top recipes on alltheflavours...is that good enough? Are there other sources for recipes I should know about before I make my purchases?
There are other good sources for recipes, yes. This sub, both in individual posts and in the monthly recipe threads. ELR, though you're shifting through a lot of gunk to find them. Others. But IMO you have already found the best one. Go to ATF, hit recipes, click Filter for the dropdown, choose "by rating." The first 10 pages of that should give you the best recipe book you could ask for.
This is what I did when I started mixing. Did it for a few months, learning how flavors mixed. ATF is better imo, less likely to find "junk" and more likely to find a good, quality mix, worth your time to try.
I am looking for a substitute for banana cream LorAnn, i can only afford tpa, cap,fw and fa. Would tpa dx banana cream work? And in what percentage in comparison with the lorann??
where are you ordering from that there's that big a difference between LA and TFA prices? most places FA tends to be the more expensive of the group you posted.
LA banana cream and tfa banana cream (even the DX) are two different flavors and i'm not really sure if they'd work well as subs. and to the best of my knowledge FW, FA, and CAP don't offer a banana cream.
Those brands i mentioned are offered from my local shop that is why i mentioned them
I have been copying recipes, and they have been better than anything in a store by far! I have some people interested in buying it off me after trying it. What is a average price for diy juice? 30ml on up to 120ml. Appreciate any help. I know there isn't a standard set price. I just want some prices of what you have charged people. They are not close friends.
there was a thread the other day
So boyfriend and I recently started mixing and I'm so surprised at how difficult it is. The tutorials we watched showed someone using a blunt tipped needle to measure the nicotine mix... except it is SO thick it takes some serious muscle to get enough fluid into the syringe. I'm tempted to pour it but I don't want too much oxygen exposure. What are you guys using to measure your nicotine?
most of us are using nic suspended in PG not VG. it's 10x easier to work with.
Right. Ours is 70/30 Edit: never mind, I see what you mean. I may try strictly pg next time.
Premixed when you're starting out sounds like a good idea until you realize that if you got a bad batch of nic (like I did) you're kind of boned. Luckily my girlfriend had ordered some 70/30 0mg so I could dilute it enough to be vapable and still get nicotine into my system. I've been buying pg, vg, and nic separately ever since.
> surprised at how difficult it is. The tutorials we watched showed someone using a blunt tipped needle to measure the nicotine mix... except it is SO thick it takes some serious muscle to get enough fluid into the syringe. I'm tempted to pour i
Ignore that video, get a digital scale that is acurate to .01 grams and research dosing by weight. If you got nicotine based in VG, I can only recommend to try to get a nozzle on the bottle and squeeze it out. Like other said, PG based nic is the only way to go.
What's up, everybody. I mixed juice a while back for a decent amount of time, but fell back into cigarettes, unfortunately. I haven't smoked in a while and have started making juice again. I feel like I'm doing the same process as I used to, but there isn't any "pop" like when you go to a vape store and get their juice. There's flavor, but you can't tell what it is if you tried it and I didn't tell you. It's not enough flavor at all when vaping. I usually mix around 15% flavoring, at a 70VG/30PG mix with 3% nicotine. Are the flavors just weak or do I need Sucralose or something? I've never used it before, but something just isn't right. I've even tried an 85/15 mix, the 15 just straight flavor.
Here's a list of what I have now -
Vanilla Swirl (TFA)
Orange Cream (TFA)
Dragonfruit (TFA)
Blueberry (Wild) (TFA)
Pear (FA)
Vanilla Custard V2 (CAP)
Sweet Strawberry (CAP)
Thank you in advance. You can't really taste flavor at all. Please help me out, guys.
EDIT: Mobile formatting
So before when you mixed, it was fine, and now it's not? Have you kept your flavorings properly sealed, out of the sun, at room temperature?
If you don't have trouble tasting strawberry, CAP Sweet Strawberry should have the most prominent taste of that bunch, followed by FA Pear and TFA Dragonfruit. While there is flavor in the rest, they don't "pop" as such. Try 3% strawberry, 1% pear and 1% dragonfruit, 70/30 VG/PG, shake and vape. That should be plenty of flavor.
I feel like I have kept them how they're supposed to be. Could too much flavor possibly block out the others? And it was fine before, but I was doing one-flavor cereal juices. I thought it might have something to do with them being berries and fruits. I read somewhere Sucralose brings out the berry flavor.
Too much flavoring is never a good thing, it can alter the flavor drastically, end up muted and quickly dull your senses to the point where you can't taste it at all. If you were doing 15% single flavor, that is way overboard.
Combining fruits with grainy, creamy flavors can have unexpected results, that's why I'd suggest you try straight up fruits. If you can taste those, you just need better recipes.
Sweeteners used right can enhance certain flavors, but can also completely mute the flavor in some cases. Sucralose in my experience does neither, but can trick the mind to enjoy the juice more just because of the sweetness. People switching from commercial juice will be accustomed to this and for some time finding their DIY juice lacking if left out. It really is a bad habit worth dropping though.
Are you using these flavors standalone at 15%Or are you mixing them together to make 15%.
Has anyone used nicotine from Wizard Labs? I'm about to place an order with them and was wondering about the quality of their nicotine. I would like to save some money on shipping so I thought I'd try their nicotine and get everything from them instead of going through multiple vendors. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
Hello All! I have been floating around on here for a week ago and finally got around to making a username today. so the reason for posting is that I understand the steeps times people post, but dont know if I should also breath the juice or not and for how long. I have seen many different times from 30 minutes all the way to 24 hours. I know it could be different depending on the flavors, but I was wondering if theres a set time frame I should use and should I do it before steep of 2 weeks or after?
Hi have any fellow non strawberry tasters tried grack juice? Is it worth trying without the strawberry?
Also, do you find that not only do you not taste strawberry, it also mutes other flavours? Or is that just me.
Which strawberry are you referring to that is muting flavors? Anything can mute other flavors if used incorrectly. TPA Strawberry ripe will mute flavors if used to high of a % because it has a lot of EM.
As far as grack juice i haven't tried it but I also wouldn't leave anything out, the recipe does not taste like strawberry at all and it's there just to facilitate the rest of the recipe.
It's just something I've noticed on the recipes I've made that contain strawberry. They're all well reviewed recipes so should taste good, like Shortcake Bar (NotCharlesManson) and a couple of strawberry recipes from Enyaw. Either they don't taste like anything at all or, in the Strawberry Shortcake, I just tasted biscuit. Although thinking about it now, they were the first recipes I tried coming from commercial, so maybe my taste was just adapting to the lower percentages.
I've got Sweet Strawberry (CAP), Strawberry and Strawberry Ripe (TFA). And not had success with any of them.
I'd also highly recommend trying JF strawberry sweet, FA strawberry and INW strawberry.
I like strawberry ripe as an accent flavor for other strawberries or compliment to other fruits. TPA Strawberry is probably my least favorite. JF is similar to CAP sweet but it's more concentrated and tastes better imo, but it just needs a couple days aging to shine.
CAP Sweet Strawberry is used in Grack as a sweetener, mostly. A scenario where 1.5% CAP Sweet Strawberry kills all flavor with that recipe is incredibly improbable. In fact, I hypothesize that this will not happen to you. You should give it a shot just in case it happens because that would be scientifically useful.
So, why is it that cinnamon always separates? I just picked up some juice the other day and forgot that you have to shake it before you drip to avoid the bottom half being disgusting and full of harsh, dry cinnamon. Ive been here before, and im here again. Even in store bought juices this is typically an issue, but why?
What VG/PG ratio are you mixing at, and are you shaking your juice thoroughly after making it? And what cinnamons are you using?
I've never had this issue with cinnamon flavors, so all I can think is that you're not mixing your bottles well enough after making them, and the PG and VG are staying separated.
You have to use a small amount of ethanol to bind the cinnamon
This isnt mine, this is some bargain clearance juice. It was actually quite good at first, but the second half has become offensively cinnamony. Its 70/30, and i cant distinguish any of the flavors from it (very little diy experience). This is an issue ive had with another store bought flavor containing cinnamon though; beard 32. Although one of my favorites, if not shaken regularly, will become incredibly harsh towards the end.
I'm making a mix with biscuit, yellow cake and sugar cookie. I like the taste atm, but it feels very dry in the mouth. Anything to help with this I could add?
i recently got gremlin's breakfast blend flavor (a tobacco, waffles and vanilla combo) and i'd like to mix it up around 7% with maybe a cream and another supportive tobacco- i have desert ship, 7 leaves, black for pipe and ry4 double- i have all of the most commonly used creams- any suggestions? has anyone used the breakfast blend from gremlin before?
You should single flavor test the breakfast blend to see what it's like and what it may pair with.
Lately I'm finding that the tastier, richer pipe tobacco style concentrates do not necessarily make a decent RY4 or dessert tobacco. Maybe it's just my preference, but it seems like they offer too much if that's possible.
EDIT it looks like gremlin recommends mixing that one at 10-15%...so it's meant to be a standalone/one shot. It may not necessarily need anything else.
Alright I know this probably a generic stupid question and everyone has asked I'm sure but I know the basics of diy but have never tried it and I always buy permafrost juice because when I see diy there like 17 different Ingredients that I would have to buy and mix where do I get the flavors and mixing supplies that won't break the bank how do I start?
Sorry for my terrible English and or grammar I'm still learning
Thank you for any and all help:)
You buy them online from the vendors listed in the sidebar. There is lots of information for you to read up on there, which I recommend you do more than once. Where are you located? Depending on what you want to mix, there definitely won't be 17 ingredients to buy. You will just need PG, VG, nicotine base, flavors, bottles, and a scale that reads down to .01 for mixing by weight. Of course, your flavors will add to your total ingredients. Find some well regarded recipes in this sub and on All The Flavors and you can start off with those.
You've already gotten great advice from EdibleMalfunction. One thing that I would add is not to just go buying flavors to try. Instead, find highly rated recipes [here] (http://alltheflavors.com) and [here] (http://e-liquid-recipes.com) and order the ingredients for those.
This way you won't be blindly buying flavors that may not work.
Thank you for the advice ! It seems like a lot of money to get started up I've seen recipes were there are like five different flavorings next them are those generic flavors that people generally have or would I have to buy all new stuff if I wanted those flavors ?
Most 10ml bottles of flavoring run anywhere from $2-4. Most recipes are only going to use 10-20 drops of each flavoring (depending upon the recipe of course). Those 10ml bottles should last you a little while unless you're vaping something outrageous like 30ml a day.
Hi. I make a Sweet cappucino recipe (cappucino, caramelo and ethil matol all TPA) 4 weeks ago, taste realy nice, but have a dry feel ninguém juice. I dont know why but is realy dry, anyone know How to fix this?
Is there a site where I can enter multiple flavours and see recipes that use those flavours (either with only those flavours or including more/less)?
Can't seem to find that function on popular sites so far.
Yes, ATF does that, if you tell it those flavors are what's in your flavor stash and use the "what can I make" feature. It also does what can I make +1 and +2 (what you could make if you had just one or just two more flavors).
Is that a pro feature? I need the paid app?
You would definitely need to make an account. I could be wrong, but I think adding the flavors to your stash and searching for what you can make is something a free account can do without needing to upgrade to pro.
I had this problem earlier and figured it out. You just need to make an account for the site, then go to https://alltheflavors.com/flavors search for your flavor then click the little box!
Example: I have CAP Apricot, but not TPA Apricot: http://i.imgur.com/yOD0TjZ.png
Shameless plug for our sub /r/ejuice :) Come on over and share your recipes as well or just learn more about ejuice in general.
Dear god. It's like r/Vaping. No thanks. And shameless is right.
Here's a sneak peek of /r/Vaping using the top posts of the year!

dears please help me i need to know what is the best flavors online store that ships worldwide thanks
if you're closer to europe try chefsflavours.co.uk. i think shipping from the states to ME is going to be prohibitively expensive.
Naaah i am in jordan in the Middle East 😭
Hi again. Need help with another recipe. Cap blueberry jam 4% Cap glazed donut 4%
What can I add to make it more "donut like"? It will be good to use only Cap
Than you all for helping me❤️
If at all possible, you could ditch the Glazed Donut and can get your hands on some FA Zeppola instead. CAP Glazed Donut = Play Dough
Maybe 1-2% CAP Yellow Cake for more of a cake donut. Or you could use 1% CAP Cake Batter for a denser cake donut. I think CAP French Vanilla and CAP Vanilla Custard help tone down that play doh taste of Glaze Doughnut while also adding a stronger vanilla element. Just a touch of the Vanilla Custard; say 0.5-1.5% depending on how gooey you want it. French Vanilla you could probably push up to 2 maybe even 3 percent. I haven't used Blueberry Jam, so I don't know what these will do that. CAP Sweet Cream used lightly at about 1% could help with the glaze. Oh, just a drop or two of CAP Super Sweet per 30ml is a great addition for glaze. That's all glaze is after all: sugar and water. It gives it the stickiness of a real glazed donut. Maybe a drop or two of CAP Lemon Juicy per 30ml would help bring out the Blueberry Jam or give it some more tartness. They have a lot of flavors, so there's a fair amount of stuff you can use. Get creative!
I'm not saying do all of that at once.. Pick one out and see how it goes. You got it from here. Good luck!
Is there a reason why so many DIYers are against the use of sweetener?
from my time here, it's mostly seen as a crutch.
instead of finding the perfect flavor to perfect their recipe a lot of hype juice will just throw some sweetener in there and call it a day. i've been mixing recipes from here for 6 months and haven't yet come across something that i thought "you know... some sweetener would really improve this recipe". the times i've played with sweetener it pretty much ruined the juice.
It's not that everyone is totally against it. Its not recommended for new mixers because it's not what makes a juice good. Most vendor juices are overloaded with sweetener when there are a few flavors that are sweet enough on their own. Overusing sweetener will also mute the flavor.
That does make sense. So what are some good sweet flavors, then?
I saw this recipe here.
All Cap Vanilla Custard V2 4% French Vanilla 3% NY CheesecakeV2 3%
Shake N Vape.
It is a good flavor no doubt, but my tongue is asking for more. If I multiply those numbers by 2? Will the flavor increase (well i think yes)? Will the taste be the same (the part I am not sure) ? Answering this question will surely help me in my future DIYs
That's not a shake n vape with Vanilla Custard V1 so its definitely not a SnV with V2. And you definitely don't want to ever be multiplying anything. More flavor percentage does not always equate to the juice having more flavor.
I found it here https://www.reddit.com/r/DIY_eJuice/comments/3f3eqv/havent_seen_this_before_but_i_just_found_my_go_to/
And i thought of giving it a try despite knowing the fact that custard takes time to bloom. Well, thanks for the reply. I'll just continue researching about flavor and stuff.
Adding distilled water to 100% VG juice to add flavor?
I have two bottles that I've mixed, 50ml, 10% flavor, 100VG base with 3mg nic. Of course, flavor is meh at best.
Would adding distilled water help? I can't order new base of flavors right away.
TO ANSWER QUESTION FROM THE PREVIOUSLY DELETED THREAD : I'm European, so you probably haven't heard of these flavorings (Peach Green Tea by Pink Spot and Loop Poor by PJ Empire. These are concentrates, just adding them and nothing else). They are very good flavors, highly praised in the community. It was my mistake thinking that "100VG must have some flavor, right?"
I'm just trying to add some flavor for the time being.
Also, 3mg is new to me, just dropped down from 6.
Water will help with viscosity and thus wicking, it will add some throat hit, but won't carry flavor any better.
There is a limit to how much flavor you'll get from max VG, adding more flavoring won't help if you've already reached this peak, apart from the added PG if the concentrates are PG based. What can help is some more steeping, increased wattage or a better atomizer. But really, unless you have allergies, you should consider adding some PG.
Is there a roundup that just straight-forward tells me what to buy and what to do. Like, direct links to purchase for measure by weight equipment, flavors, pg/vg..
I wouldn't pay too much attention to the calculator section other than the basic values to set your PG/VG/Nic. Everything is automatically done by the calculator you use.
Hey everyone! I'm looking for a good coffee flavor that works in a single flavor recipe. I want a good coffee taste that is not that bitter and is smooth to the throat. I do have ethyl maltol if it's necessary to sweeten it up but I prefer not to use it if I don't have to.
So, what's your experience with coffee flavors? Which one would you recommend?
I recently picked up [Stixx Mixx Kona coffee extract] (http://www.stixxmixx.com/product/kona/). It's pretty damn good. If you go too high its going to get that classic "burnt bean" taste you get from most coffee concentrates but it's really good.
I'll be honest with you though, it absolutely destroys coils in just about 10-15ml. But to me it's worth it for a good kona coffee flavor. It's my go to cup of coffee and from the concentrate I get that classic nuttiness that kona has.
Quick unrefined recipe I came up with:
Kona with vanilla cream
- Bavarian Cream (TPA) 2%
- Booster (Tiramisu) (FA) 0.5%
- Kona Coffee Stixx Mixx 5%
- Marshmallow (CAP) 1.5%
- Sweet Cream (CAP) 1.5%
- Vanilla Whipped Cream (CAP) 1.5%
It does sound interesting, sadly it doesn't look like they ship internationally. I mainly buy from the most known flavor companies because it's what I have available at the moment. I haven't been able to find a good coffee flavor other than a terribly overpriced local made juice that tasted beautifully but they don't make it anymore. And I've tried quite a few of them, all sitting in my "never gonna use again" box after just one use. I'll try your recipe with one of them and see how it goes, I have almost all of the other ingredients.
Hi, I looked up everywhere to try to find what is the flavor that will taste like the eclair/profiteroles pastry at least or a recipe if someone knows a good one as i am a big fan of eclairs and i can vape that taste all day long.
Cheers
Probably Bronuts with the addition of 2% TFA Bavarian Cream.
Cheers yea i was fiddling and looks like that is the closest although i thought of adding FA Vienna Cream @ 1% and FA Cream Fresh @ 1% and about 2% of Cap Vanilla custard instead of FW yellow cake and INW biscuits.
I believe /u/ID10-T can tell you that mixing joy, which is the other flavor in bronuts, with cap VC tastes rank as hell.
Without the yellow cake or biscuit it's not going to taste like a dounut/pastry. Just try it with Bavarian cream before you start taking out and adding things.
So I'm pretty new to this, I've mixed a couple of times before with varying results, this time I decided to mix up a batch of the Unicorn Milk 'leaked' clone by cuttwoodspy, max VG and 0.3% nic.
The thing is this mix reeks strongly of alcohol after standing for about 20 hours, never had this happen with any flavourings before so my question is, is it safe to let it stand with the cap off for a while or should I just keep it on and let it steep? If so how long can the cap stay off?
Sorry if this has been asked many times before, a quick google search came up with nothing conclusive.
Leaving the cap off will only let the flavor pixies out (volitiles) thus leading to muted flavor. Most cream base recipes really need at least one week to steep, two weeks being better. There are more strawberry and cream recipes out there than you can shake a stick at, you may just need to try some other ones to get away from the alcohol flavor. Check out Fizzmustard's Mustard milk. The diketone free version is fantastic.
Yeah I'm not worried about steeping time, just thought the ethanol scent was weird. I'll leave it capped and tucked away for a couple of weeks see how it develops, thanks.
I've actually tried the original Mustard Milk as my second recipe ever and the vanilla bean ice cream tasted really peppery to me so I had to scrap it, I'm not sure whether it was a bad batch or something. Is it safe to try the diketone free version seeing as it doesn't use VBIC?
So i made my first juice using TFA flavors didnt followed any recipe and the result is not ugly but very bland mostly i can feel the apple note i wanted but i dont feel much sweetness from the RY4 (also i didnt vape pure vg/pg so i dont know how it tastes without flavoring but i will check that)
i mixed 40pg/60pg like 10% of flavor
Ry4 double flavor from TFA 2ml
apple flavor TFA 1ml
3 nicotine (0.9 m)
for 30 mls total and steep for a week
now this is my first mix and i wasnt expecting anything wonderful (in fact i only feared i would get rubber flavor)
but steeping confuses me a lot , do you think i needed more flavor or more steeping or maybe sweetner?
i heard fruit flavors are very shake and vape and custards can take up to a full month sometimes , what about tobaccos like the Ry4 or western?
Custards do not take a full month. But tobaccos can and sometimes more than a month. RY4 isn't a straight tobacco flavor though. A little tip, in the future, post recipes here in percentages and in a list. It makes it easier to read and follow.
You're using about 6% RY4 Double and 3% Apple basically.
Try bumping up the Apple to 4% (1.3ml), backing down the RY4 Double a tad to the same 4%, and adding something a little bit sweet to make it pop. I wouldn't use sweetener. I'd use something like marshmallow, meringue, caramel or brown sugar.
Always try to use sweet, neutral concentrates first before automatically running for the sweetener. You'll get much better results and a much better recipe.
If feel the apple on point when vaping but it leaves a Lil sour taste in the mouth I was thinking of upping the ry4 because I don't have other sweet flavors right now I just have cinnamon churro and cappuccino but I don't think they are going to work
Can I make an ice cold juice without a strong menthol taste using a combination of FA Polar Blast and FA Menthol?
I've tried a lot of malaysian juices because I live in Vietnam and they have an ice cold effect that I really like but I don't have WS-23 the cooling agent they normally use.
Perhaps, worth a shot. There's been some talk about the cooling in Malaysian juices, try this search for some reading.
Ok cool thanks. I'm getting some nice cold effect from Polar Blast after letting the juice sit overnight (when I shake and vape it just doesn't feel cold to me). And luckily I did find a chemical supplier here in Vietnam that has WS-23, although they want to sell only 500grams at a time. So I need to try and negotiate a little with them butI'm excited to see the difference. The Malaysian juice I have is insanely ice cold!
Does Koolada or FA Polar Blast have a mandatory steeping time?
I tried adding FA Polar Blast to some Cuttwood Mega Melons juice last night, starting with about 2ml of MM and adding 1 drop of Polar Blast. I didn't notice any difference, so I kept adding more drops of Polar Blast and dripping the combination onto my RDA but it never got very cold. I stopped around 5 drops. I let the bottle sit overnight and now the cold effect is much more pronounced and quite nice.
No experience with FA Polar Blast but Koolada doesn't change much over time. Anything you mix may take a bit of time to homogenize though, especially if the VG ratio is high.
People say steeping is leaving your bottle in a cool, dark place. For example someone might say a 2 week steep for a particular juice, but what if you steep a 100ml bottle for 2 weeks, then place that bottle in coilmaster bag and leave it in your air-conditioned bedroom. Once a day you open the bottle and fill up a tank or 2, after 2 weeks you still have 50ml of juice left, since the bottle has been in a cool, dark place for another 2 weeks does this mean it's not like a 4 week steep? Or is the steeping process negated because you've opened the bottle numerous times to fill tanks?
Naw, the cool dark place is just to avoid sunlight and heat, two things that do bad things to juice. Exposure to oxygen is another, which happens when you open the bottle, but the scenario you describe doesn't interrupt the steeping, so it's effectively 4 weeks steeping.
Hey, so I am not new but I think that this is a question that is better suited for the new mixers thread. With all the different sweeteners out there, what is the best scenario for each one. For instance when should you use tfa sweetener over Cap Super Sweet, or when is 10% sucralose better a better fit then say erythritol? I have cap ss, tfa sweetener, erythritol, and 10% sucralose from ecx and am sort of confused as to when it is more appropriate to use which. I kind of have the idea that tfa sweetener is good for harsher fruit mixes since it also contains EM but that is as far as my knowledge goes, thanks in advance you wonderful people!
Hi, Emily. I have not tried erythritol yet. There's a lot of information about it but opinions vary and since I rarely use any kind of sweetener, I just haven't gotten around to investigating it for myself.
I don't think there's any reason to own both 10% Sucralose and CAP Super Sweet and would suggest always choosing the sucralose because it will be easier to use (0.02 g off when mixing won't be such a big deal, and it's an easy mistake to make with the bulbousy nipples on those CAP bottles) and doesn't contain those weird preservatives that Super Sweet has.
If someone like me who doesn't have the 10% Sucralose because he's hoping to make himself infertile using those preservatives wants to make your recipe, he could just cut the sweetener % in half since Super Sweet is twice as strong.
Yeah, TFA Sweetener will give you a little bit of fake sugar lips too (half as much as the 10% sucralose) but also enhance sweetness with that maltol in there. At the same time it'll be like putting a rock in a rock polisher, helps polish the rough edges off of your flavors which might or might not be good thing. It will mute your flavors and of course we usually think muting = bad for a reason. But I tried side-by-side CAP Super Sweet vs. TFA Sweetener versions of my Mango Tango and the TFA Sweetener version was much better. It did exactly what I wanted it to do to that Cinnamon Red Hot.
I have 10% sucralose and CAP Super Sweet and can't stand either. I'm going to have to pick up the TFA.
Sucralose, in amounts that have any impact, always taste like an awful diet soda to me.
CAP Super Sweet is almost uncontrollable its so sweet. 1-2 drops per 20ml is almost too much depending upon the mix. I've thought about diluting it a bit.
I try to stick with sweet neutral elements like marshmallow, meringue, and EM in small amounts if I need to round off the edges.
I had the bot tell me this belongs in here, so here it is. This is my flavor stash http://e-liquid-recipes.com/publicstash/29792 I really want to get JF Sweet Strawberry, I dont shop at ecigexpress and am only doing it for this flavor. Are there any other "Capella killing" JF flavors they have I should add to order? I will probably get 2 DiyorDie concentrates.
This is the first time I'm making my own juice. So there's a couple of recipes that seem good to me, but there's often a difference in PG/VG ratio and desired nicotine level they use.
For example i'd like to try this recipe, but it says "Best VG 0%". I like my juice 70/30 VG so would that change the recipe? Would I have to add more flavor compensating for the higher VG percentage? I've heard about PG carrying flavor better.
And what about the nicotine percentage. Let's say a recipe contains 12mg/ml and I like to vape 3mg/ml. Does more or less nicotine effect the flavor?
That is just a random box on ATF you fill in when sharing a recipe. That doesn't mean they mixed that recipe at 100 PG. Keep everything the same. Recipes are listed as a percentage for a reason.
dont add flavor to compensate the recipe is usually made with the max amount of flavoring that should be used in that mix. more nicotine = less flavor, think of each 3 nic taking away 8%ish flavor.
Ok quick question everyone on here gave me great insight and recommendations for a flavor store. but where do I get nicotine or what's the best source:)
Sorry for terrible English and or grammar still learning !
what do you consider the best? quality wise, /u/ediblemalfunction has it right, but best may be cheapest, or pdo based or something else.
So im trying different strawberries lately. I wanna know whats the difference of tpa strawberry and strawberry ripe?? Also how is tpa strawberry comparable to cap sweet strawberry?? Are they much different?? I tried tpa strawberry ripe and cap sweet strawberry thats why am wondering..
I'm terrible at describing taste so I'll just state that they are three completely different flavors. But if I were to try, I would describe TFA Strawberry as much more candy like than Ripe, and at the same time tastes a bit over-ripe to me (I'm not a big fan of this flavor). I would pick INW Shisha Strawberry over TFA Strawberry, they share some of the essential properties while Inawera's version is much less offensive to me. People seem to get vastly different impressions from strawberry flavors though, the only way to know if you'd love or hate the flavor is to pick it up.
My first DIY was bad. Long story short I think it was bad nic. Posted on ELR and now working with vendor on why i got nic sick.
Today i wanted to put in another order. Out of flavors since i only bought 9 15ml bottles and now want to try different brand of nic. I read that flavors last 6 months? From TPA website.
Been vaping for about 6-7 years and tired of gambling with cheap juices. Or paying $20+ for 30ml of premium juices. I have been ordering from local and online for my juices. Some mix as you buy and a lot of premium ones. I have always been a melon guy and wanted to explore. Starting to like cream and custard flavors now. Don't like berries. More drawn to fruit vapes Prefer 80vg/20pg mixes
Is this too much for a first timer? Am i missing any other ones that i should get or remove from my list? Been looking on reddit and ELR for a good few weeks now. Watched numerous videos and post. I usually go through about 100ml in 2-4 weeks but if i made some juice i would prob have a lot of my friends try them. I dont want the flavors to go bad if they sit there till the end of the year. Planning on storing them in the fridge. Plus I wanted to do multiple 15ml-30ml batches instead of big ones. More of experimenting what is good and since they are smaller batches they will steep quicker.

As others have said, get smaller bottles of a flavors the first time you get them, in case you don't like them.
You've got some great flavors picked out, though, so I think you will like them. However, unless you already have recipe picked out that you want to use Sweet Cream for, you could probably pass on that one. If what you have is an idea that you think Sweet Cream might be good for, there's probably a better option. TFA Dragonfruit, TFA Strawberry, and TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream are also great, versatile flavors. If you can, get FLV Mango instead of TFA Mango. If you can't get FLV, get CAP Sweet Mango. Or TFA Philippine Mango. Or FA Mango. If I could only have one mango flavor, I would choose one of those before TFA Mango.
I wouldn't get the oz bottles personally. I did the same thing when I started out and pretty much wasted the money since I haven't touched about 75% of them after a few uses. It might seem more expensive to buy the 8 or 10 ml bottles of flavorings but in the long run you'll find you have tons of flavors that you just don't use or enjoy the taste of.
Buy a small one first then if you need to replace it, get the bigger version.
Just my opinion though. How did you decide on those flavors in particular? I'd pick 3 or 4 recipes that are highly rated on e-liquid-recipes and get the flavorings for those and try each one of those out before getting too creative.
Never heard of getting sick from nic. More than likely concentration is higher than claimed. I always titrate my new shipments of nic using a kit like this (can only be used with 36mg/ml or higher, I think).
Many of my flavors are over a year old, no problems. Always stored in dark cool area.
I always pick up the smallest size of a new to me flavor, regardless of any hype. Subjective and all that.
You have some really solid and versatile flavors there! The only recommendations I would give there is for 2 substitutions. I found FA Cantaloupe much better than TFA's. And for Mango I like Cap Sweet Mango better. Since you're a melon guy, FLV Wild Melon is a terrific one, 3% standalone is perfect. Cantaloupe, honeydew, and maybe a touch of watermelon?
And for the love man, drop the sweetener down! 1oz will last a long time. Most people here never use it, but it has it's place.
Welcome!
lol what can i say, i like the sweetness. Ill do 2 oz for sweetener, thats the only option from TPA unless i do 10mml Nice, ill switch over to FA for cant and cap for mango, since i still have about 8-9 ml left of TPA. Like squeeshka said, ill just pick up 10ml bottles just to make sure. That should be able for me to make a few smaller batches and if i like them ill get the big bottles.
As for the nic sick. I made the same 2 recipes again with no nic and i was fine. Made a test non flavored 10 ml and still got sick. Made a 2 15 ml batch again with flavor but with 1% nic and got sick again but it took 2-4 mil before feeling dizzy.
Ok so I am new here if this is the wrong section I apologize. Long story short. I want to turn my dry marijuana bud into a vape oil. I am not sure what combination of bud to PG is necessary. I generally understand that you must first decarboxylase the herb. I have seen many different methods of what to do next and I am looking for the easiest, most cost effective safe way to do so. I just was able to get 30 ML of PG from a local vape shop. But even after watching plenty of youtube videos, I am not sure what to do. I failed chemistry in school :(
So my local B&M makes a juice that's supposed to be MONSTER energy drink flavor. They will add menthol to order to make a juice they call Yeti. Now I'm very new to DIY and want to make my own Yeti as I really love it. I'm guessing it's a Green goblin base and I once overheard the manager tell a guy 3 something per 10 ML, which I'm guessing is menthol. So I added the GG and 15 grams of menthol crystals to my wizard labs order. Should I just look at the single recipe percentage on alltheflavors.com and just experiment with menthol? Any suggestions?
It would have been much easier to just get menthol liquid. That 3 per 10 ml comment was probably 3 drops of menthol per 10 mls of juice.
What to do if you've made a big batch of e-liquid with 6mg nic and shake and vape completely tries to destroy your lungs in longer puffs than 1 second?
I'm currently letting it have some air.
Nic is Merck.
What's the recipe? Where was your nicotine purchased?
Recipes are mixed by a friend i trust a lot. So no worries there, but they are Kanzi :a mix of watermelon, kiwi and strawberry TPA, FA and CAP, Strawberry overdose TPA AND CAP LINK , Kiberry Yogurt clone TPA AND FA something like this LINK
Nicotine base (80vg/20pg 6mg) bought from a local vendor (Sorry cant disclose as i'm vaping in a country in which e-cigarettes are somehow banned) and had a little yellow tint to it. Also used their 3mg in my previous mixes and had no problems.
Caramel original tpa, in Brasil is very hard find another flavour, is only tpa flavours. I Buu Sweet cream and try. How mamy time to steping after add Sweet? And How many %? TKS for help.
Dude! I'm brazilian and even for me your message is almost cryptic. ELR has plenty of info on this flavor ( http://e-liquid-recipes.com/flavor/3871 ), such as min, max and avg %. Personally this one tastes very strong to me, so I'm using as a subtle note on creamy recipes around .5%
I need some help with percentages. I know the normal flavor usage on a juice is around 10-15% so what happens if i use for example 25%?? I read somewhere that the flavor of the juice mutes that way, is this true? Someone guide me please :)
What's the recipe? 25 % is definitely high
Anyone ordered from Gremlin DIY? Specifically asking about them sending to New Zealand but if anyone has any input about them I'd be keen to hear it. Are they good? Quick? Etc.
Email them. They are a great company, but are based in the US. I know there are European-based sites you may want to check out instead.
Alright folks, what the hell am I missing?
I have a shit ton of flavors (well, for me, maybe 39 isn't that much? :P), I don't trust myself to mix originals yet so I hit up ATF and put all the flavors I own in.
Five. I can make five recipes. I personally love fruity and desserty mixes (That Strawberry Cookie I can whip up is great).
Here is a list of the flavors I have. I would LOVE some pointers on what else I can add. I feel like I'm missing one or two things to be able to mix some great recipes. Thanks!
(Also suggested other vendors is always appreciated. I use WizardLabs because it's all I've ever used and have had no problems with them at all.)

I placed my first order the other day and I can't wait to start mixing my own eJuice! Thank you /u/Batboy141 for your guide to mixing by weight! I will have all of my "goodies" by Saturday and plan to spend most of Sunday making some recipes I found on this forum and sampling flavors.
I may have gone a little overboard for a first order, but I want to make sure I have everything I need for my first mixing day. I installed eJuice Me Up and setup 6 recipes I found here and made sure I got all of the flavors for those (and then some). Can any of the seasoned mixers on here tell me, am I missing anything?
My First Order: http://imgur.com/a/ICJ8G
just a quick glance, you went all in on tfa strawberry. that would probably have been better spent on getting a larger bottle of shisha strawberry. trust me on this. tfa strawberry is used most commonly as a booster and at pretty low (2-3%) in conjunction with other, better strawberries so that 120ml will probably last you a whiiiiiiiile.
you probably would have been better served getting either 30's or 60's instead of 120's and used that savings to bump other staples up to 30's.
also, LA watermelon is very useful.
Most of the 120s that I ordered were the only size available or it just made sense. 8ml TFA Strawberry was OOS, 30 was $3.95 and 120 was $4.50. I was trying to order all 8ml bottles, but at least I'm stocked for a bit or I can share with those in need.
I love watermelon, so I will definitely grab LA Watermelon on my next order. I have been looking through the forums but haven't found a recipe yet to make. Remember those watermelon slice candies (kind of like a gummy) that were a little tart, but covered in sugar? I'd love to find something like that. I cant wait to jump into this and get comfortable enough to just try and recreate that great flavor that pops in my head. Thanks.
Do you guys ever use the flavor tags from JuiceDB when trying to clone a recipe as a starting point?
> JuiceDB
Never even heard of it.
From what I seen in most DIY groups, especially those facebook groups, there are two types of people, those who clone juices and occasionally ask for a set of fresh eyes when they get stuck and those who just demand clones without ever even buying anything to start making juice.
To answer your question people who can actually clone or at least get close to it don't use anything like that, they use the actual juice to go off of. Those who can't just demand clones from others without ever trying anything despite the fact this is a 'Do It Yourself' hobby.
Thanks for the reply. I'm just getting into DIY (order will be here on Monday).
I'm going to start with a few simple recipes, something I can shake and vape, then work up from there. The one I want to clone is pretty complex flavor-wise but then I thought of flavor tags.
My aim is to be the first of the two kinds of DIY'ers. 😁
You have to taste the juice to clone it.... The best way to do it is to start mixing, playing around with the flavors in the profile you're wanting to clone. Don't necessarily start to dissect the clone. Just get to know the concentrates in that profile and maybe mix other people's recipes using those concentrates to see how they taste and play with other concentrates.
For example, if it's a lemonade you're trying to clone, start buying lemonade/lemon concentrates and start testing them. Eventually you'll try one and be like "ding ding ding ding" that's in there.
Cloning is tough. Especially if you just started mixing and don't have the knowledge of what certain concentrates taste like. I've been working on one for 5 months and had given up pretty much. Then just a few weeks ago I picked up Inawera Lime, tested it and had that "ding ding ding ding" moment. Now it's almost there! I think one more revision and I'll have it.
Sorry what u dont understand? I Just say here is hard to find another brand. And i try to add Sweet cream tpa in my juice.
