FLV White Chocolate
submitted over 8 years ago by PerennialPhilosopher

Setup: Goon LP, Dual Parallel 25g SS316L @0.10ohms, 80w power with 100w preheat, 410 degree F temp limit, Full Cotton Wicks.

Testing: FLV White Chocolate @1% solo 70/30 VG/PG, steeped for three weeks

Flavor Description: nice subtle white chocolate. the milkiness is there, the buttery flavor is there, with a very light hint of vanilla. I could see this being closer to an artificial white chocolate than to the real deal, but thats not really a bad thing.

Off-flavors: Nothing that i noticed

Throat Hit: None to speak of.

Uses & Pairings: Flavorah says "White Chocolate is at home with whipped creams, and other dairy notes." at 1% this seems like a supporting flavor but i wouldnt use it much higher even as a main note. this could be used in basically any custard/cream/bakery profile to give a thicker creamy note.

Notes: this is mild in comparison to the other FLV flavors ive tried so i could see the % being bumped up for some more kick.

Second Opinions: "Slightly chalky, very flexible and firm flavor has a full, chunky bar presence that can be scaled up and down as needed." -from the Flavorah website, no other opinions found; although, i did see that there is a review available for DIY or DIE fans.

With this flavoring being subtle, as you mentioned, could you see it being the main flavor in a complex mix, or would it get pushed to the back without a supporting cast of other white chocolates?

I think it depends on what else you use. I have a version of a black and white Cookie steeping, based on a recipe by /u/ID10-T. I will edit in notes on how it works out in about a week. Just based on what ive tasted so far I think it will stand out unless you mix it with a lot of other creams like CAP vanilla custard v1. I will definitely be experimenting with this flavor to find out the answer for sure

Based on a work in progress by me that has yet to work out, you mean. I hope you beat me to that profile and bust out an awesome recipe for it that really captures that chocolate and white chocolate dipped sugar cookie.

Well if either of you nail it, that would be amazing. Black and white cookies are one of my favorite sweet snacks I used to get from the delis back home in NY.

That would be nice. I have high hopes based on my SFT of the two FLV chocolates

I'll definitely be following your progress. I'm kinda hoping there's a single "Be-all, End-all" white chocolate, I haven't had as much luck with regular chocolates, most of them need a lot of help.

Warning! My taste buds are shit, but I've used "Faerie's Finest White Chocolate" and to me it tasted like a dry(ish), thick, semi-sweet white chocolate that complements very well with FW. If anyone would want a few ml for testing, just give a yell and I'll shoot ya some.

How does this white chocolate compare to fw?

This is the first white chocolate I've done a SFT for.

Edit: from what I just read it's probably better and at the very least it is more concentrated
