Thanks to everyone who joined in last week's Flavor of The Week discussion about Donuts.
As always, the purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a flavor and its many uses. And it's also to have FUN!
Post recipes containing this week's Flavor of the Week, as the star or in a supporting role, with or without development notes. Talk about other people's recipes that use it. Compare and contrast different manufacturers' versions of the FOTW. Ask for help using that flavor in general or to achieve something specific, offer advice, brainstorm ideas, consider substitutions, suggest pairings... really anything at all as long as it's on topic.

I love actual passion fruit but my experience with passion fruit flavors is a bunch of buts.
I have CAP Passion Fruit, but it tastes too musty to me, almost like it has dirt in it.
I love the taste of FA Passion Fruit, but it tears my throat to shreds.
I really love everything about SC Passion Fruit, but none of our flavor vendors carry it so it has to be obtained through less traditional channels.
I have FLV Passion Fruit and also bought FW Tropical Punch because someone complained that it "just tastes like passion fruit juice" and not punch, but haven't had a chance to try them yet because I've been too busy playing with everyone's strap-ons.
I've ordered RF Super Concentrated Passion Fruit (shoutout /u/mysticrosell for posting about that sale), but it hasn't arrived yet.
I was just thinking about abbrv. For real flavors super concentrate... How about we use this: RF (SC) or RF (VG) for the vegetable glycerin?
You could say these are the fruits of my passion for abbreviation.
Have you tried FA passion fruit with EM or a concentrate with triacetine such as tfa dragon fruit. It could potentially smooth out the harshness of passion fruit
Not yet. I've been told that Strawberry Ripe helps with it quite a bit (of course, you'd have to take the strawberry taste with that), which makes me think EM would indeed be useful. I'm going to try this FLV Passion Fruit first; I hear it's really good.
I ordered that RF passion fruit also. It's supposed to come in the mail today. I'm not really a fan of the profile or recipes that contain it. But figured what the heck, here's a good opportunity to pick it up when it's free.
You're not a fan of passionfruit? What about POG, The Hurricane, Alizé?
Yeah actual drinks. I have a bottle of ejuice someone gave me that was POG I wasn't crazy over. Maybe I shouldn't be too judgemental over it because I think it might've just been way over-flavored. So I'll try and give it another shot or find someway to use the passion fruit flavoring.
I grabbed Bahama Breeze also from RF. That one I'm a bit more interested in mixing up and trying as a single flavor.
Anyone has any idea how to make TFA Passion Fruit taste like passion fruit?
All i get is a generally sweet perfumey taste.
Sounds awful I think I'd go with another passion fruit flavor all together
Some of these titles are just sad.
They really are. Anyone want to come up with something better for upcoming FOTWs?
Oh, awesome timing. I just got FA Passionfruit and it smells amazing. I was planning on using it with either TFA DX Jamaican Rum to get a sort of caribbean cocktail or with CAP Vanilla Custard v1 and some TFA Brown Sugar to go a dessert route.
Thoughts?
That flavor breaks my heart because it tastes like authentic passion fruit but vapes like razor blades. Not everyone has that same problem with it, though. Good luck to you, my friend. I think trying to make a cocktail out of it would worsen any harshness you might get from it, but the dessert route, though a bit weird, might mitigate it some. I've also recently been told that a little FA Passionfruit with TFA Strawberry Ripe in about a 1:3 ratio (2% + 6%, I think) is delicious and smooth, the EM in Ripe might be taming it. Something else with a bunch of EM might help, or just straight up putting some TFA Cotton Candy in there with it.
My birthday is in a few days so one month ago I made myself a big bottle of your Bourbon Ice Cream and put it away for steeping. Excited to crack that open as a birthday treat.
What if you were to mix FA Passionfruit with Dragonfruit or Marshmallow, or maybe even Cactus? Would it maybe be able to smooth out then and not be so harsh when vaping it?
Ok passion fruit. I only have FA Passion fruit and it's finicky as fuck. Too low and it's lost , too high and everything tastes sour and muddled. I've been trying to get this flavor to work in a bunch of different places but it's difficult because it can have a harsh throat hit and even at low% can ruin a mix quickly.
Chocolate actually pairs well with passion fruit and it works with FA Passion fruit. Chocolate can help tame this flavor as well. I've not done extensive mixing of these two flavors but in my limited run it was both tasty and not harsh. Even used passion fruit up to 3% with chocolate and it still sang lovely tunes.
My best usage of this is in a tropical recipe, I Think that's where this belongs anyway. I'll share it here because I love you guys and it's actually pretty damn yummy.
Tropical Island
%VendorFlavor
0.75 (INW)Cactus
0.75 (TPA)Dragonfruit
1 (FA)Fuji
0.5 (FA)Marshmallow
0.5 (FA)Passion (passionfruit)
3 (INW)Pineapple
2 (TPA)Strawberry (ripe)
Sometimes I add 1% JF lemon juicy or FA lemon Sicily
Thanks for the recipe! I've been hearing that Ripe can help with that FA Passion harsh throat hit and this looks like an excellent use of it.
Which chocolate were you pairing with? I've had some chocolate passionfruit valentine's candy and it was heavenly.
So testing FLV passion fruit at 1.5% it seems like you won't have that harshness plm with this one (which is good because persimmon is breaking my heart!) there is mild harshness but it's nothing compared to some of the peaches etc.
I haven't tried FA solo but have tried a juice with it. FLV has a similar funk although it is much more mild. It seems fairly juicy, very light sweetness and a somewhat tropical fruity flavor.
I haven't tried an actual passionfruit IRL so it's hard to score accuracy but I can dig it.
I've had passionfruit in mind for some time now for a Durian flavor and I think this one could be useful. Initial thoughts lead me to:
- FLV passionfruit @ 0.5-0.75%
- FLV Guanabana @1.5-3%
- cap or INW custard @ 1%
- cap jelly candy @ 0.25%
Something like that
Still on that durian, I see.
I've been told that FLV Passion Fruit is much gentler than FA's. I need to stop being distracted by strap-ons and get on with testing that one.
Is FLV Persimmon a tasty flavor with a vicious throat?
I smelled it and thought, "oh man this is everything I've wanted in a flavor!" Vape it and It's sweet, it's bright, it's juicy, it has an intriguing and decadent fruit profile -- throat is a bit sharp though.
With SFT at 2% the throat was rough but it seemed like it could be manageable. In a mix at 1% it was still being a nuisance. Tried same mix at 0.75% and it was no better. Then tried a different mix at 0.25% and it was STILL cause for non-adv material. First mix was a cocktail so I figured maybe just not use it there but even with what would basically be a cream stone it was no bueno, still need to SFT low to be 100% it was the persimmon but it's certainly not helping.
There's got to be a way to tame this sh*t and it's my new mission now!
shake and vape cap passion fruit at 10% was like vaping a can of rubicon it was good at first but just too much to vape allday . i felt that the flavour dulled after a week of so and didnt have the kick it first had but that might have been down to my setup and the fact that the bottle was down the back of the couch for that week
It looks like you're trying to mention other users, which only works if it's done in the comments like this (otherwise they don't receive a notification):
