Setup: Narda Clone, Single coil 26g Kanthal @.7 ohms. 25W Power, Half wicked with Native Wicks Platinum Blend
Testing: FW Dr. Pepper Type @ 4%. 70/30 VG/PG, steeped 8 days.
Flavor Description: This tastes like a warm, flat generic Dr. Pepper. I don't mean for that to sound bad because it is quite delicious with a tad bit of effervescence. I am not getting just a straight cherry cola like I was so afraid I would. It tastes pretty authentic to the Dr. Pepper, or even better, Mr. Pibb, profile.
Off-flavors: I don't get anything that is not supposed to be there
Throat Hit: It is pretty smooth, nothing like I was expecting.
Uses & Pairings: I would honestly vape this standalone or maybe with some vbic or vanila shisha for a float type mix.
Notes: I really like this flavor. It has not changed much in the 8 days I let it steep so you could vape it right away with maybe the only difference is a little bit of a throat hit but nothing too harsh.
Second Opinions:
Not much in the way of ELR Notes Someone did comment saying that it tasted more like rootbeer to them.
If you have different opinions on the flavor or any ideas on how to use it please post them in the comments. Lets start a discussion!
Thanks for the review. Do you know if FW Dr Pepper Type is the same flavor as FW Dr Soda Type? I think it is just a name change (copyright infringement maybe) but would be nice if you can confirm?
Congrats on your progress through the DOD competition by the way. Looking forward to trying out the 'Here Come The Boys' milkshake.
Thank you! I think they are the same flavor just changed the name. If you don't have all the flavors for the recipe might I suggest my flavor pack?
I am in the UK so importing anything from the US turns out quite costly! Learned my lesson importing some JF flavors from ECigExpress and was hit with both import duties and the £8 surcharge our postal service adds just for collecting the import duties. Luckily I do have the flavors required for it so just need to make the time to mix it up.
Sounds awesome! Have you been using anything in particular to give it an effervescence? I was very off-put by FW's Cream Soda type I didn't bother to try any of their other sodas. I have been pretty impressed by some of their offerings though lately and this sounds like one I'll need to try out. How is it on coils? Is it dark?
Pretty spot on review to this flavor i would say. A few things i would add would be that it prob has like 10% sucralose but i could be wrong and its almost like a alcohol concentrate where there's a lot of top notes that fade away fast.
What do you use to give your juices that carbonated feel? I'm currently using FW Pink Champagne b/w 1 and 2% depending on the mix. It doesnt seem to alter flavor profiles at all.
I use tfa champagne for a couple of mixes but it is really hard to get any sort of effervescence.
I've yet to try tfa champagne. FW pink champagne and wine champagne are pretty good at giving that "bubbly" feeling. Wine champagne alters flavor of the mix, though. I made a mistake and added it to cap lemon lime and got something remnant of the cheap Moscato that you can buy practically anywhere that sells alcohol lol. The pink champagne simply added the carbonated sensation. It's a bit harsh for the first 2-3 days, but once it mellows out its amazing.
