Hello, DIY_eJuice, I have some questions on recreating the liquid formula for a juul by myself. I've been working about three weeks now, and I can't seem to perfect the formula. I have been using freebase 48mg PG and VG, and combining the two in a 70/30 ratio, with about 15% flavoring added to the overall solution. I've moved the PG and VG ratio all along the scale, but it seems that the hit of the juice is too harsh. The throat hit is excessive, and there is a smaller, late buzz that comes around 5 minutes after the hit. I know Juul uses Benzoic Acid and Nicotine Salts, and I have heard that Nude Nicotine is the way to go, but could I get some confirmation on a formula?
You reallly need to use a calc. You are making ridiculously high nic juice by the sounds of it.
Comes out less than the amount of nicotine in a juul, which is 58mg nic.
The percentage isn't the problem but you really should look at using a calculator...
Thanks for your input. However, I already can do the calculations without using a calculator. As a rough estimate, my solution comes out to having a 4.1% nicotine content. I'm more worried about the throat hit and buzz, which is why I made the post. Thanks anyway.
It's a proprietary formula. You're not going to get anywhere close with freebase though. Way to harsh at that high of a concentration.
Freebase nicotine is too harsh at that concentration? So what do you suggest I change(notice I talked about the Nude Nicotine brand in my post)?
definitely use nic salts. I've tried smooth and signature in my icare and it's close, you prob want signature, smooth almost completely eliminates throat hit so it works better for normal vaping for a smoother hit. you can even use the "hit" version as eell, depending on the throat hit you're looking for. they have small samples that got can get to try. nothing really hits exactly like a juul though, I sucked it up and bought enough pods so that I use it during the day at work or if I'm out and use my mod at home.
Are both the VG and PG 48mg/ml?
Yes; I'm looking at about 41mg/per L solution. Not quite juul nicotine content, but it has been too harsh thus far.
So pretty much what I've been doing is: 60mg of NN's hit solution, which will give you at most a VG of 40%. Ideally, I'd like at least 60VG/40PG, but it's not doable. I've used NN's VG flavors and they are okay, out of like the 15 I tried only the BRY4 was actually enjoyable with the juul. The list includes:
- Chai tea tornado (decent after like a month)
- Minty menthol (needs other things, good as a base but bad by itself)
- Coffee creme (holy shit it's bad)
- strawberry banana smoothie (again, just bad. tastes sour)
- shirley temple (think heavy on sprite, light on cherry. not terrible, but not good)
- Banana creme pie (bad)
- BRY4 (only one I can vape and choose to continue to vape. gets weird after a month)
- passion fruit coconut creme (harsh, floral, bad)
- patchouli vanila (good for the first 3 days, then it gets weird)
- watermelon mint (don't taste watermelon or mint, super weird)
- Verry berry (tastes like the berry in BRY4, just without the tobacco. it's not good)
However, it does not hit like the juul. The hit comes after like 3 or 4 puffs, whereas with the original juul pods you can usually feel it after 1 or 2. Not that bad, but still something to note.
A lot of people seem to have issues with pods leaking with their juices, but I think they're just filling them wrong. I always clean the cotton pads in the black mouthpiece and when I put the rubber piece back on and put the mouthpiece back on, I blow on the mouthpiece with a piece of toilet paper on the other side to catch any loose juice. Then no leaking.
Like i said, it's doable, but it's nothing like real juul pods. I made a menthol mint that is good, but I believe the VG/PG ratio ended up being like 35/65. Used PG flavoring, and 60% was from the nic, rest VG. Again, it's okay, but in my opinion it's not really worth it once you try the real pods.
NN smooth makes the flavors taste funky and there is no hit, while signature doesn't give enough hit. Enter NN hit.
