INW Dark Fire
submitted over 8 years ago by T_Maceresident tobacco specialist

Specs:

  • percentage used: 3%
  • 7 weeks
  • PG/VG ratio: 50/50
  • vaped on NarDA rda, Kanthal A1, 28 gauge, spaced coil, 1.8 ohm, 12-18 watts

Type of Tobacco

  • Aromatic pipe style tobacco

Flavor Properties:

  • smooth
  • mellow
  • mild sweetness

Relatable Flavors:

  • honey comb honey (and no cat piss)
  • seriously nothing else going on here, just the honey

Mouth Feel:

  • medium body

Off Flavors:

  • um honey? considering this is a tobacco I guess that counts as an off flavor

Position In A Recipe:

  • use this in low amounts to soften or round out a leafy blend.

Suggested Percentage:

  • 1-2%

Pairings:

  • Black Mile (mine is SC but most will probably fit)
  • any chocolate cigar type recipe
  • INW Am4a maybe
  • Would pair up with INW Gold Ducat if you want to strengthen the honey note
  • aromatic pipe style blends

Conclusion:

  • Very pleasant, not overly sweet honey flavor which will come in handy.
  • I've never tasted a plain honey flavor but if you need one and haven't found it yet, try this. I promise, there is no hint or even a trace of tobacco flavor. Someone please chime in if my taste buds are missing something here.
  • Oh ya, now I know many of you will be disappointed, but it doesn't have that trademark cat piss smell that some other honey-esque flavors carry (ahem INW Cavendish).
  • Overall this is a win and not a waste of money, it will mix very well with authentic tobacco flavors.
  • My last thought here is why the fuck did INW call this Dark Fire? It does not strike me as dark, nor fire-y and bears no resemblance to Dark For Pipe or FA Black Fire.
  • Ps. On inawerawinkel.com's Dark Fire product page they describe it as "Typical taste of tobacco and smell of "smokehouse" & "fireplace". Perfect with Tobacco Absolutes." I would be willing to assume that I got a mislabeled bottle except for the fact that mine was not re-bottled, it's original INW with the tell-tale gold cap and original label so I kinda doubt it's a switcheroo. Someone with this flavor please confirm or deny my findings.

I am too curious if this is just you or if others just got a honey. A good honey flavor can be something nice to have around!

It's been a long time since I've tested this one, so I might have to do another tester to see what I get from it. I remember being disappointed because I had read somewhere that it was basically INW's version of FA Black Fire, and it definitely wasn't. I remember it being sweet and not fire-ish though. If it is indeed a honey, I might try it in this honey Bourbon mix I started working in with the Cavendish.

Exactly what I had read. Definitely far from it. I thought of your recipe when I was tasting this, I think it would work really well in there.

Very curious what you will taste when you try this.

I never even get close to 3% , guess I was missing out. This ones always been a secondary or tertiary piece of a recipe for me

Do you taste anything other than honey at low percentages?

I havent tasted any in quite awhile but I remember it was one of the key ingredients when I was trying to clone kalamazoo vapes "OMFG Tobacco" (the old recipe) - so sweet and nut but not peanut or even hazel , i'll bust some out on mon or tuesday when my wotk week is done and play with it

Sounds good, this flavor still confuses me a bit, mostly just the name.
