Just a little thing I did which I think some of you might appreciate
submitted over 8 years ago by project_twenty5oh1Mixologist

Captured the moment the mix warmed up enough to start pulling down the lighter density flavor concentrates into the higher density VG and nicotine. The music is not overlaid, it's what was playing from my phone at the time.

That's really mesmerizing, I like it! Which recipe of yours is that we're witnessing the creation of?

My ADV for the past couple years. This is the version I shared with the world:

6.0% TFA DK Base
5.0% TFA Banana Cream
3.0% TFA Banana Nut Bread
1.0% TFA Bananas Foster
3.0% TFA Peanut Butter
0.3% TFA Koolada
0.2% TFA Coconut Extra
0.3% TFA Smooth
1.0% Strong Mint/Menthol Concentrate

The version I mix is different from this one, and I sell it on my store as Snowdrift (which is actually also slightly different than the version I mix for myself.)

Awesome. Do you ever notice tfa peanut butter fading or becoming increasingly dry with a steep? Also, have you noticed the inconsistencies from different tfa peanut butter batches? Some of us have ran into problems where tfa peanut butter tastes great at a certain percentage then when we buy it another time down the road, it's not as strong.

Yeah, I've detected those differences in batches. Honestly I think it comes down to freshness of the concentrate. I've had TFA PB come in lightly tinted yellow to mellow out into a deep orange over time.

In terms of the mix, it's hard to say. The PB is totally blended, so it's not really a detectable note in the flavor, it's just this little hint in the nose at the end of a smell of the liquid, like if you passed your nose over the bottle or a dripper filled with it. I mix like this once every few months for myself and some very close friends, so I'm frequently vaping several-months old juice, and I haven't detected a difference based on the PB alone. Also I don't think this flavor is ever particularly dry except when it's really fresh, after that it's always kind of refreshing - not juicy so to speak but... filling? In your mouth. I dunno, hard to pin down with words. It's refreshing.

That sounds really good!

It's pretty weird. What I'm doing in the video is mixing it in a heated magnetic stirrer - i take it up to 76c then let it spin for between 4-6 hours. After that, it rests a day and it's good to go - it may "steep" slightly beyond that, but IMO it just gets a bit richer, the flavor doesn't really change.

I've heard other people had some success with other heated steeping methods like water baths and such, but otherwise you might need to wait a while for natural steeping and offgassing. The DK base uses ethyl alcohol which can make it harsh and offputting without any time allowed to let that work itself out.

So, this recipe looks really damn tasty but I do not personally like menthol or any cool feeling. I'm guessing it will substantially change the mix to leave those out though?

Btw, thanks for posting a recipe damn close to a flavor profile you sell. Don't know how many other vendors would be willing to do that and it comes off as pretty awesome of you.

I'd suggest leaving the koolada in if you take the menthol out though.

At 0.3% you really have to search through the flavour/aroma to find it but it really adds some interest and depth (to the already pretty deep) flavour profile. At that level it's more like you're vaping it a few watts lower rather than it having a noticable cooling effect.

Prairie is this same mix, sans menthol. Personally I think that ice turns the key on the flavor, but a lot of people prefer it without it. It still has that same core earthiness.

Thanks for sharing this. I finished off a 20mL last week that had been steeping for about 2 months. Really regretting not mixing up more but usually I can't stand DK Base over a few percent so was being cautious. It's definitely going into my regular rotation now. Amazing recipe.

Are you still using the Axiom Icicles for the menthol? Any recommended substitute for that? I mixed it up last time sans the menthol but would like to try it sometime with it included. I'm not in the US so the Icicles is pretty pricey to pick up for me. I heard someone say they mixed it with FW Extreme Ice and it was pretty similar to Polar Bear. Never had Polar Bear or your Snowdrift though so I don't know if the wintergreen and peppermint in FW Extreme Ice would be taking it in the right direction.

Icicles is definitely a mint/menthol blend, so as long as your ice additive has those things, whatever you can get your hands on should work fine.

The DK is a weird one for me. I really like the way it smells, but don't care much for the flavor. I started with only TFA tobaccos, and almost gave up on diy. So maybe now the taste just takes me back to all my failures and it just hurts too much.

as a person that doesn't like bakeries, i can and have adv this. the cake is great and the mix of lemon and apricot is awesome. one question, is there cinnamon in it? sometimes i get hints of it, sometimes i don't.

i'll put up my full review on juicedb tonight once i get all my notes together.

There isn't any direct cinnamon flavor in it, but it does share a base with Homeward and Amalfi, and there are some notes which can come across as cinnamon there. I would be worried about the cinnamon base in Homeward somehow getting cross contaminated but I think if that had happened you would really know.
