How about a thread for muting/dampening flavors, bad flavor combos, and flavors that don't play nice
submitted over 8 years ago by kotsosss

I think a lot of us will find such a thread useful and learn from others' mistakes / mixing mishaps. For example, I have noticed that Shisha Vanilla drowns the "bite" from tobaccos even in low percentages. TFA Malted Milk mutes high fruity notes.

Here's a pretty good rule of thumb:

  • Fruits are muted by heavy creams and sweeteners
  • Creams are muted by heavy or excess bakeries
  • Bakeries can be muted or covered up by spices
  • NOTHING mutes menthol

Menthol on a bakery like cheese Danish makes it sour and not taste like menthol.

I thought FA Joy + CAP Vanilla Custard (plus some other stuff, of course, but I was able to isolate the problem to these two) would be an obvious choice for making donut juice. LOL Nope. It acts like Joy has actual yeast in it that gets into that yummy CAP VCV1 and multiplies there. Mmmmm tasty vanilla yeast infection juice.

So it's not that bad then. I'd name the mix 'wife juice'.

We have our minds in the same gutter.

OTOH I do notice that combination in both /u/enyawreklaw Funfetti, and /u/tranceinate Simply Cannoli.

Now I'll have to keep my sniffer on the lookout.

Would it be too vulgar to call it the "Runny Cunt" instead?

Works for me as long as you add some Inawera Cactus. It really helps out with juicy wetness.

TFA smooth will mute the fuck out of everything.

ethyl maltol will mute fruits.

This. This is exactly what I was going to post.

In small amounts, both can be helpful additions to juices, but if you fuck up, or don't know exactly what you're doing? They can mute the ever-living shit out of an otherwise fine juice...
