Weekly 'Suggest a Recipe for my Flavors' Thread - Week of February 24, 2017
submitted over 8 years ago by AutoModerator

Got a bunch of flavors but not sure how to make them work together? Post your list here, and our team of semi-professional mixologists will make suggestions for you! If you are impatient and want to do this on your own, here are a couple of good links:

  • /u/daath has a nice website that has this functionality, but you will need to register to make it work. It is not very intuitive but if you work with it you can input your flavors and get a list of recipes that you can make. IMO this is the better site if you have the patience to make it work for you. Edit2: to get this to work, first set up an account. Then add your flavors to the stash (under my page / my flavor stash). hit save. Then go back to the front page and click the link next to the search field, "Search by flavor stash". You can select a couple of your flavors and recipes that have those will pop up.
  • This site has a nice big search button with just what you're looking for.

Happy Mixing!

Given this list that I have, how could I make a bomb apple-minty flavor that's smooth orcreamy?

My current flavor stash inventory looks like this:

  • Menthol

  • Koolada (TPA)

  • Peppermint (FA)

  • Meringue (FA)

  • Fuji Apple (FA)

  • Kiwi (FA)

  • Green Apple (FW)

  • Juicy Peach (TPA)

  • Dragonfruit (TPA)

  • Green Apple (FW)

  • Cactus (Inawera)

  • Grapes (Inawera)

  • Raspberry (Inawera)

  • Kentucky Bourbon (TPA)

  • Sweet Strawberry (CAP)

  • Toasted Marshmallow (TPA)

  • Note: No nicotine, No extra PG.

  • I only make "max VG." (I have distilled water though if needed.)

I made [Glass Apple](http://e-liquid-recipes.com/recipe/435001/Glass Apple) with it and it was pretty good but I ran out of Ripe Strawberry and only have Sweet Strawberry (Glass Apple = Fuji Apple, Juicy Peach, Ripe Strawberry and Koolada).

Upon another users suggestion I made another version of Glass Apple but replaced the strawberry with Kiwi (FA) at 4% (instead of 8%). It's pretty good but I don't really taste the apple at all.

  • I have Green Apple flavor, which I haven't tried yet.

  • I also have koolada and menthol and peppermint. I tried menthol in a small 5ml batch and it felt really, really harsh in an unpleasant, dry way. I think I like koolada a lot more)

Maybe something that resembles maybe the classic hookah double-apple flavor with some mint? (I did find this thread but I don't have any of those exact flavors.)

Alright, let 'er rip! I'm new to mixing (~a month in). I've already made a number of the top suggestions based on my list from e-liquid-recipes and ATF, but I'm interested in what you dudes may suggest. Thanks in advance!

What have you already made, and what did you think of them? That would help in suggesting something else you might like. Also is there a flavor you really like and want to use more of, or one you want to use but haven't figured out what to do with yet?

Hey, thanks for the reply! So far I've made:

-your Simple Sugar Cookie (this was great btw thank you!),

-Cannoli Contest Entry (it was decent, but a little dry),

-Bombies Nana Cream clone (I liked it and will probably be making more),

-Mustard Milk (I liked it, but it seems to be lacking a little bit of creamy depth or richness),

-Ripe Vapes Monkey Snack clone (this was good, but might be better with modification - I'm not skilled enough yet to attempt this)

-Cuttwood Sugar Bear clone (I really like this one),

-your ICBIN Manson's Strawberry Shortcake (this one was okay, but I am not sure I'll make it again)

-Tribute Vanilla Custard (this is one of my favorites so far)

-NY Raspberry Cheesecake (this was another one that kind of tasted harsh or lacking in creaminess to me)

A number of the flavors on my list are new (coming soon in the mail) and I have not used them in anything: CAP glazed donut, FA cookie, FA custard, FA Red Touch Strawberry, FW Butter Pecan, FW Hazelnut, FW Sweet Cream, LA Cream Cheese Icing, TFA Berry Crunch Cereal, TFA Blueberry Extra.

As should be obvious, I favor the bakery flavors. I'd love a good donut base that works well on its own and might be a good place for me to experiment with modifying/adding to.

After receiving the new flavors, I plan on making a couple of new recipes:

-Bust-A-Nut (top rated on ELR, I figured I'd give it a shot)

-Flawless Aftermath Clone (I haven't tried the actual Flawless juice, but this one looked good)

-Poptart v5 (sounds pretty good to me)

Because you liked both Simple Sugar Cookie and the Cutwood Sugar Bear Clone: Snickerdoodle Cookie. Also worth noting that, when you're ready to branch out from making other's recipes to creating your own, adding small amounts of one to two things to Simple Sugar Cookie is a great way to start.

This French Quarter Clone, I think you'll enjoy it based on your love of bakeries and if you read the author's notes about adding fruits to it, that might be another thing you'd like to experiment with in the future.

Here's another use for that LA Banana Cream and TFA Banana Cream: Vanilla Wafer Banana Pudding

Because Tribute was one of your favorites so far: 6% CAP Vanilla Custard, 3% TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, 2% FW Sweet Cream, 1% TFA Graham Cracker Clear, 0.75% CAP NY Cheesecake.

How in the world did you manage to buy mostly flavors that nobody uses?!

You might try 4% each LA Strawberry, CAP Green Apple, and TFA Whipped Cream and let that steep for two weeks, but really I think your best bet is going to be to try these flavors individually in small batches as single-flavor mixes at various percentages (to get an idea of the range of these flavors and what tastes best to you), and then decide for yourself which ones would taste best mixed together.

Been mixing for ~2 weeks with help form sidebar and various websites.

Currently not enough flavors I have found recipes for, always missing some key flavor. Here's what's left:

  • Fuji (FA)
  • Bavarian Cream (TFA)
  • Dragon Fruit (TFA) - 2ml left
  • Yellow Cake (CAP)
  • Cheesecake (Graham Crust) (TFA)
  • Lemon Lime (CAP)
  • Coco (Coconut) (FA)
  • Lime (INA)
  • Mango (TFA)
  • Kiwi (FA)
  • Blueberry (CAP)
  • Caramel (FA)

Any recipes are appreciated!

That's not much to go on, but you might like one of these:

3% Fuji, 2% Caramel, 2% Bavarian Cream.

3% Coconut + 0.25% Lime + 2% Lemon Lime.

4.5% Bavarian Cream + 1% Coconut + 2.5% Fuji

4.5% Bavarian Cream + 1% Coconut + 3.5% FA Kiwi

When you order more flavors, look for recipes that you want to make, then get the flavors you need to make them, instead of the other way around.

I'll be ordering more flavors in a couple days, got a whole slew picked out by following top rated recipes (Excited to try Grack Juice). I've run out of all my mixes that followed recipes so I'm trying to find something shake and vape-able to get me by.

Yikes, you wanted shake and vape and I just gave you four steepers.

If all I had was what you listed and I wanted shake and vape, I'd just vape 3% Fuji all by itself. Maybe add 1 to 2% Kiwi and/or Dragonfruit to make it more interesting.

Try asking that here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/DIY_eJuice/comments/5wgdvb/weekly_new_mixers_questions_thread_week_of/

You might get more responses. But it'll probably taste like one of those orange slice candies. I hate those things.

Looking to make two (hopefully) simple juices. I want to make a sour watermelon candy juice and a sour blue raspberry candy juice. These are the two flavours I've decided on as a base:

  • WF Sour Watermelon Candy
  • WF Sour Blue Raspberry Candy

I enjoy both these flavours on their own, but they taste like they just need a little something more. I would love anybody's input on tips they might have for flavours that really bolster and improve them, fill out their profile. Have done some experimenting myself to no real avail, and being relatively new flavours, browsing ELR hasn't provided much insight either.

Thanks in advance! :)

Do they taste kind of "thin" and need to feel fuller and richer? Or is it that the fruits are weak and need a boost? Is it the candy part that comes up short? Or is it that they're called sour but aren't sour enough?

2 points

To be honest, with the watermelon at least, all of those things except the sour part. It's kinda like the overall flavour in general needs boosting, both the fruit and candy aspect could use boosting and rounding out.

Try adding LorAnn's Watermelon (colorless) to the watermelon. It might solve all of your problems at once.

For the Blue Raspberry, there are a number of concentrates that might prove useful, you might have to experiment with different ones to get what you want. The first one that comes to mind is OSDIY's Blue Raspberry Slush, and second is CAP Blue Raspberry Cotton Candy. You might also look into TFA Raspberry Sweet, FLV Raspberry, FW Razzleberry, and peach flavors which could add body and candy-like sweetness without tasting like peach if you use them at a lower percentage, like TFA Juicy Peach or FLV Peach.

Blew through most of my Strawberry flavors and I am looking to branch out into new recipes, preferably something with a low steep time. I'm going to list some reasons why I have stopped using certain flavors as well in case that helps.

  • TFA Watermelon
  • TFA Dragonfruit
  • TFA Sweet Raspberry (Never found a recipe that it fits well in, but I'd like to try it more.)
  • CAP Marshmallow (I add it for sweetness sometimes but only in extremely small amounts.)
  • TFA Ethyl Maltol (Mostly stopped using it for sweetness as it seems to add a burnt taste.)
  • TFA DX Bavarian Cream (Overpowering, maybe just needs a longer steep time than I've been willing to give.)
  • CAP Coconut (I'm not opposed to trying it more but it needs to be very light/almost unnoticeable, not a huge fan of coconut.)
