TFA Hard Candy question
submitted over 8 years ago by Easy_senpai

Hey everybody! I searched as much as possible, but could not find a decent answer to my question. About to try making a cherry Jolly Rancher clone, and want to get the TFA hard candy. Can someone tell me what it's flavor is before adding anything else? Thanks in advance!

FW Hard Candy?

It tastes a lot like a jolly rancher, but not a specific flavor, and adding fruits doesn't always work.

You need to add a arcade candy flavor like TFA Kiwi (Double) for it to work well. Although I've found that I usually use Hard Candy more as a sweetener.

Use FW hard candy!

Can second this recommendation. Apologies for not being able to answer your question, but I've had great luck making good tasting mixes w/ FW hard candy.

Got something fruity that's decent? Add some FW Hard Candy - hey - it's Rancher-esque now! Woo! That's largely been my experience. I bought it in order to try Vurve's Watermelon Crack Clone although lately I've been enjoying his Strawmelon Crack variant (which doesn't use Hard Candy...)

Take my opinion with a grain of salt, because people love the flavor... But I don't get even the slightest hint of jolly rancher from the FW Hard Candy. It doesn't turn a fruit into jolly rancher to me either. If a recipe calls for it I'll tone it down or even remove it. I just don't see taking a cherry and adding hard candy and if morphing into a jolly rancher. Just adds a weird flavor to it to me, like a bunch of perfumey fruity shit mixed together with no real intention. I get the same from jungle juice, unicorn vomit and a couple other flavors.

One reason I really can't handle watermelon crack is the heavy jungle juice and hard candy combo. But people go crazy over that shit...I remixed it, removed those and upped the marshmallow and it was really enjoyable.

Again - take my opinion with a grain of salt. My opinion may be unique to others experiences.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who had to lower Jungle Juice and Hard Candy. I got kind of a soapy taste from one, I think it was the hard candy.

I get the same taste in my taste buds from both, well it's real similar. The jungle juice is alot stronger and the hard candy just feels like a watered down version of the other. More perfumey to me than anything but I'm not good at describing taste.

Lmao, loved the wording of that. Made me chuckle for a second. I think I might chuck it in on my next order of supplies. Thanks for the input!

This is as close as I could get when I tried awhile ago with the flavors I had, I actually lost my best recipe of it, can't remember xactly what it was but this is really close.

Flavor | Percentage ------|---------- Maraschino Cherry TFA | .8 Honeydew TFA | .5 Cloud 9 FW | 2.5 Ripe Strawberry TFA | 6.6 Strawberry TFA | 4.4 Bavarian Cream TFA | 1.8

IDK about TFA but FA tastes just like I would imagine the jolly rancher candy base to taste.

FW Hard Candy tastes like a Jolly Rancher minus a distinct flavor. It's just fruity... So basically, it sounds like what you need. You just need to find a decent cherry that doesn't taste like cough syrup to add to it... Good luck with that.

CAP Cherry Wild is pretty decent. It has stevia in it so it's a bit sweet, but it doesn't give off that cough syrup taste even up at 6% like some others do.

The catch 22 is it's hard to get a hold of, I had to go out of my way and order it from Wizardlabs

Weird. Might have to try that. Was thinking along the lines of wild cherry or something.

I never had any luck with FW hard candy. It has a taste that doesn't really resemble jolly rancher. To me real 'hard candy' doesn't really have a specific flavor . It's more of nailing down the "cherry" jolly rancher flavor more than anything
