Thanks to everyone who joined in last week's Flavor of The Week discussion about Cucumber, there were some great-looking recipes shared in that one.
As always, the purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a flavor and its many uses. And it's also to have FUN!
Post recipes containing this week's Flavor of the Week, as the star or in a supporting role, with or without development notes. Talk about other people's recipes that use it. Compare and contrast different manufacturers' versions of the FOTW. Ask for help using that flavor in general or to achieve something specific, offer advice, brainstorm ideas, consider substitutions, suggest pairings... really anything at all as long as it's on topic.
This week's flavor is: Peanut Butter

I've been lurking that sub for the past few months now. I have little to no desire for a PBJ flavoured vape but watching the recipe development is really interesting. I wish I had the patience and palette to brainstorm, develop and detail a recipe with that kind of intricacy. Major props to all involved in that sub.
It's recipe collaboration at its best. People are throwing such unique ideas and taking those ideas seriously.
I really want to put together a contest inspired by it's collaboration. But keep it structured enough that new people can join in and make a good effort.
You should start a sub for developing a profile you're interested in! I'd subscribe. No doubt about it. It's really fun working with other people on a recipe.
When I get in the mood to vape some peanut butter I like to use TFA Peanut butter.
I really liked to vape /u/Botboy141 Peanut Butter Cookie when I get a craving for PB.
TFA Peanut Butter tends to be more on the dryer side of things with all of the Pyrazines that make it up so it definitely needs some help. TFA's version isn't the strongest either so using INW Peanuts to help boost the flavor really helps bring it out to the forefront and make it more authentic.
INW Peanuts is incredibly strong. You really only need around .5% to get a noticeable flavor from it. I've personally never experimented with going higher with it so I can't comment on wonky off notes. It's not creamy like a PB more of a straight peanut flavor so it makes it perfect used in this context.
I find FA Cookie to be pretty dry, too, I'm guessing Botboy's recipe is getting a lot of help from the butterscotch, brown sugar, and Vienna cream. Do you have a go-to concentrate for helping with TFA PB's dryness?
I find that TFA Marshmallow helps to smoothen out the dryness of the Peanut Butter I typically use it at 4% in my PB blend.
That sounds like a ton of Marshmallow but a little TFA Marshmallow certainly has that ability with bakeries and such and if that's what it takes, I'll give it a shot, thank you. Are we talking something like 8% PB and 4% Marshmallow?
> I'm guessing Botboy's recipe is getting a lot of help from the butterscotch, brown sugar, and Vienna cream.
You would be correct. The FA Cookie in this recipe doesn't do it any favors.
I honestly haven't mixed with peanut butter too much so I can't be of much help combating the dryness. EM is an obvious choice to help smooth it out. Though I really try not to use this stuff very much because of how much it mutes the entire mix. Depending on what you're going for TFA Bavarian cream or FA Caramel have both helped with the dryness of TFA PB.
Only time I've used peanut butter:
Someone wanted me to make them a vanilla custard juice that tasted like a Zero candy bar with a lot of vanilla. So I kind of combined a few ideas I found around. To start, I made the Zero. I slightly modified this recipe. I went:
FA Caramel- 2%
TFA Fudge Brownie- 1%
FA Marzipan- .5%
CAP Peanut Butter v1- 2.5%
FA Torrone- .5%
TFA White Chocolate- 2%
Never had a Zero bar before, so I got one to try side by side. It was pretty spot on.
Then I mixed up a flavor base of that and mixed with it like this:
Acetyl Pyrazine- .5%
TFA Bavarian Cream- 1.5%
CAP Vanilla Custard v1- 4.5%
TFA RY4 Double- 1%
TFA Vanilla Swirl- 2.25%
FA Vienna Cream- 1.5%
Zero Candy Bar Base- 4%
It turned out pretty well. Anywho, there's my experience with peanut butter.
People make really strange, very specific requests of you. Sounds like you had fun though. Recommended steep time for anyone who wants to give Zero Bar Vanilla Custard juice a try?
That was the way he explained Vapewell Creme to me. Never had the juice, so I just went by his description. I didn't really get a chance to let it properly steep, but 3 days was better than 1. So I'd probably suggest a week to play it safe.

This was an attempt at making Foo's Gold from Plumes of Hazard, which ended up tasting like a really tasty Nutter Butter bar lol(I think the AP did it). The theory was sound but I just couldn't nail down the tobacco and someone else ended up with a way better recipe then I did for it. But if you like a Nutter Butter bar with a little bit of sweet tobacco behind it, this is for you.
Came here looking for TFA PB alternatives. Was disappointed.
Also, Hangsen Peanut Butter tastes like burnt peanuts.
I think TFA PB, for all the problems it has, wins the realistic PB contest. Time to accept it and focus on solving those problems.
What about frostings being a fotw, like butter cream, la cci, fw double dutch chocolate, flv frosting. Sounds like a decent idea?
Hard to do on mobile, but here is one of my most vaped/asked for recipes. Peanut butter crunch berries milk ., or PBCBs.
PBCBs
Peanut Butter TPA 7%
Berry Crunch Cereal TPA 5%
Bavarian Creme TPA 4%
Meringue FA 2.5%
Graham Cracker CAP 1.4%
So why the graham you ask?! Adds a bit of extra crunch to the recipe and helps smooth the pb/crunchy cereal into the milk. Best at 10-80 watts. I got bad results from the one person who tried to use this in a super sub-ohm build.
Awesome, thank you for sharing it! I wasn't going to ask about the graham, but I am curious about what the one person with bad results said.
With all the pb talk last night I mixed up Tfa pb 4% flv peanut butter 1.5% cap ny cheesecake 2% tfa butter .25% and fw creamy hazelnut .5% seems very promising s&v...wont know for sure until next week
Next week, or longer with that NY Cheesecake in there. I just ordered some Creamy Hazelnut to try with PB and have some PB with Butter steeping that should be ready to try.
But, did you see the /u/thedirtyprojector's recommendation in this thread? He uses TFA Marshmallow to fix TFA PB's dryness which of course I've tried but it hasn't been working well, apparently because I have not been using nearly enough at 1 to 2%. TDP's talking about using it at 4%. I definitely need to give that a try.
I just got my FW Creamy Hazelnut in today. Without looking back, someone suggested to use TFA PB at like 8%. I'm going to give that a whirl 4:1. Not a lot of room for grape and sandwich bread after that of course, but we will see what happens. I'd almost be happy just to nail down a balanced peanut butter/jelly spread that isn't dry and flat.
i normally wouldn't use it that high myself. But after seeing a few vendors' recipes (Gordona, SadPanda, etc.) I can see it working at higher percentages than we're typically use to.
If you've tried Provision Vape Co's PB, it also doesn't have that dryness that we've grown accustom to with PB. I believe they use some form of marshmallow to alleviate it, too.
Sometimes TFA Peanut Butter tastes metallic to me.
Anyone else with this issue?
I'm actually kind of excited for this one. I bought quite a bit of TFA DX Peanut Butter with my last order before actually trying it as there's a vendor here in Canada with a kick ass PB&J juice that I love. Only one I've tried so far is one of the top rated on ELR.
PB&J
TPA Cheesecake Graham Crust - 4%
TPA Peanut Butter - 10%
TPA Strawberry (Ripe) - 6%
I used TPA DX obviously and it's definitely not the best. I feel it needs more strawberry or maybe a mixture of two. Needs some help on the dryness as well. My next adaptation is going to include TPA strawberry and possibly some marshmallow, going to drop the PB a little as well as the cheesecake.
Marshmallow sounds like a good idea. CAP Sweet Strawberry might work better than TFA Strawberry for that. A little TFA Grape Juice would also make the Strawberries more dark and jammy like jelly, without actually tasting like grape.
Well, I figure this is as good a time as any to get some feedback on my very basic PB cookie.
PeeBee Cookie
Mfg | Flavor | % :--------:|:--------:|:---------: TPA | Peanut Butter | 6% FA | Cookie | 3% TPA | DX Bavarian Cream |1.5% TPA | Caramel (orig) | 1% CAP | Sugar Cookie | 1% TPA | Brown Sugar Extra | 1% FW | Sweetener | 1%
I end up getting a solid PB taste that feels like it just got pulled out of the oven and is slightly toasted on the bottom. I wanted to make sure I got plenty of cookie, so used both cookie flavors, and the Sugar cookie gives almost a crumbly, grainy texture for this. I know I'll probably get some flack for Caramel orig, but I really enjoy the vape.
I wonder what it would taste like if you swapped the FA Cookie and CAP Sugar Cookie %'s and traded out the DX Bav Cream for something more buttery.
Not a fan of PB vape, or coffee... Can't wait to scan the comments for:
Donut
Passion fruit
Blueberry
Apricot
Papaya
Though...
Got any more suggestions for things you might look forward to? I'm not coming up with these on my own and if you think PB and Coffee are things you aren't a fan of, wait until we work our way down to paprika, pesto, pickle, potato...
I'm working on a mix, have been for a couple of months, that involves clove and anise. I think it would be interesting to see how others are using it.
Has anyone used a pb flavor super low to add just a hint of roasted flavor to a mix? I see it all the time as a main note but it would be really interesting to see it as an additive.
Alright, this is a recipe I found a while ago and adjusted. It's my ADV for now, very nice after a 2 week steep.
TPA Peanut Butter - 8%
TPA Double Chocolate Clear - 8%
CAP Graham Cracker - 4%
CAP Marshmallow - 2%
CAP Lemon - 1%
Give it a try, and let it steep. This is not a SnV, in fact it's not that good right after mixing.
Very interesting! What does the Lemon do?
The lemon is used at a very small percentage to smooth out the peanut butter. It helps it mix better with the chocolate.
Putting a suggestion in for Huckleberry
I'll add it, but I wonder whether there are some other less-commonly-used berries that we could lump in with it (like how we put Cherimoya and Guanabana/Soursop in one FOTW), since Huckleberry by itself isn't likely to generate a huge amount of discussion and recipes? Can you think of any?
Hmmm. Maybe Lingonberry, or Bilberry?
Lately we've been having flavors that I don't have and that I'm looking into using. So that's awesome for me. However I don't have anything to add :(.
What is your PBJ subreddit? I lost it and have an idea.
