FLV Commercial Cigarette
submitted over 8 years ago by T_Maceresident tobacco specialist

Specs:

  • percentage used: 3%
  • 5 weeks
  • PG/VG ratio: 50/50
  • vaped on NarDA rda, SS316L, 28 gauge, spaced coil, 1.5 ohm, 12-18 watts

Type of Tobacco

  • Aromatic pipe style tobacco: Real cigs are usually non-aromatic, this is not that. I will say that it's a great flavor off the bat though and I'll definitely will make use of it.

Flavor Properties:

  • bright aromatic blend (not overly aromatic, it's a nice subtle one that I will actually use in mixes.)
  • touch of citrus
  • slightly sweet

Relatable Flavors:

  • very gentle orange citrus note stands in the front
  • maybe a hint of whipped cream, minus the vanilla, this is waaay in the background
  • the base notes are non-sweet but also hard to describe. This this flavor uses the same base as Native Tobacco and Kentucky Blend by FLV. The three are, in fact, very similar.
  • the citrus in this also reminds me of INW Captain Jack For Pipe, but this one is less strong on the citrus note. They would def play well together.
  • there's a dry note at the end of the exhale, not quite ash but same mouthfeel
  • there's no inherent leaf flavor like INW Black For Pipe or FLV Virginia, but this flav, along with Native and Kentucky, all remind me of rolling tobacco.

Mouth Feel:

  • medium/light body

Off Flavors:

  • none

Position In A Recipe:

  • I would use it as an accent note but it's a tasty standalone and you could position it centre stage in a mix no prob.

Suggested Percentage:

  • 2-3%

Pairings:

  • FLV Virginia (or any other leafy/grassy Virginia you have on hand.)
  • INW Black for Pipe would make a great base with this as an accent.
  • FLV Classic Cigarette (if you want to dirty up the mix and chase that analog cig feel)
  • INW Captain Jack For Pipe (if you want to bring out more citrus)
  • INW Shisha Vanilla (or any light body vanilla)
  • Whipped Cream
  • Custard
  • I dare say you could toss this in a fruit mix, especially fruity shishas.

Conclusion:

  • First off, this is so damn similar to Kentucky Blend and Native Tobacco I'm not even sure if I could tell them apart unless they were side by side. I vape a lot of Native and Kentucky and am finding it harder and harder to discern which is which. The base notes on all three of these are identical. I think Kentucky is a bit spicier, Native has more ash, and Commercial Cigarette does the citrus thing. Would have to put em all side by side to really notice more than that. My favorite of the three is Native, then Kentucky, then this.
  • I'm pretty confused why this is called what it is. Like I said, I do enjoy it but find the name wildly misleading.

I just ordered this, Kentucky, Native, Arabian, and Turkish last night since there was a 30% off sale on BCF. Wish I would have seen this review so I only had to get one! Based on the description on the Flavorah website I was hoping it would be really hoping it would be really ashy and smoky. They almost described it kind of like DNB. Oh well, as long as it's good.

Ya, it's so not ashy or smoky. I just reviewed Arabian, it should serve you well. Will take some tinkering tho to get it right in a mix.

Please update me when you try Kentucky, Native and Commercial Cig. Would love to hear what someone else thinks. To me, they are so damn similar it's confusing why they even released all three. But maybe my tastebuds are confused since I've vaped soooo much Kentucky and Native. They definitely share the same base tho.

Alright, doing a quick test with the Native and Commercial Cigarette side by side, both at 3% and steeped for 3 days.

The Commercial is a bit brighter. For some reason it makes me think of the way a clean hotel room smells. That probably doesn't make any sense, but that's what it's making me think of for some reason. Almost kind of perfume tasting, but not in an offensive or alcohol way. Perhaps it's the light citrus taste that's giving me that vibe.

The Native is a bit more in the medium range. I looked up your review on it, and I can definitely see where you get the AP being somewhere in there. My first hit seemed pretty bready, but the more I vaped it, the less I noticed it. It might be a bad time for me to try to properly test these, as I'm coming down with a bit of a cold. And I was also just testing out the Siren MTL tank (got the tip from your review btw) with that Cuban TA/Black for Pipe/DNB mix I made a little while ago and it really dries me out.

Final thoughts: pretty similar, but different enough. Even going back from one to the other I would think "Yeah, those taste a lot alike" but then I'd taste the other and think "Oh that's way different."

Edit in hopes you haven't seen this yet: tasting it a little more today, and I think Native and Kentucky both remind me a bit of INW Turkish. They both have a bit of that creaminess that I got from it. I smelled Kentucky next to INW Turkish, and they didn't really smell the same, and it's been a while since my single flavor test of the Turkish, but it makes me think of that. I'm gonna have to try them all when my kids stop making me sick. Daycare seems to be a bunch of kids just coughing and sneezing all over each other.

I have FE Turkish but I don't think I have INW Turkish. FE Turkish isn't like the FLV ones were discussing tho. Sounds like INW Turkish should go in my cart next time.

Cool that you tested these two side by side. Something I've been meaning to do but may never get around to. Sooo many flavs to review, sometimes hard to go back on stuff I already messed with. Overall, Native is my favourite, then Kentucky and Commercial Cig last. Just cuz if I want that orange citrus vibe, I'll be more likely to use INW Captain Jack For Pipe.

PS. Siren boys! Vaping on mine right now. It's never not in rotation. Haven't come across another tank that suits my needs better when it comes to mouth to lung. It's possible that my Kayfun Mini V3s might (only maybe) have slightly better flavor, but they are a royal pain in the ass to clean and build on, and they gunk like crazy. MY Taifun GTIII has great airflow, tighter and smoother than the Siren but the Taifun leaks no matter how I wick it and is also a chore to clean. My Rose 3 is just all around annoying as fuck for several reasons. I'm excited about the Cthulhu that I recently ordered. We shall see if it can beat out the Siren for all around usability.

Edit: Kayfun, Taifun and Rose are all clones.
