So the last 3 times i bought nic it has been as i mentioned above. I dont do anything special to store it as i only have it for a month but it always seems to go bad. I have had 2 different suppliers with the same result. It gives me a sore throat, coughing fits and leaves me short of breath. I mix it down to 3mg.....I don't understand how it can be going bad so fast? Sure i keep it out of the light and all that but it seems to be really quick? Should i be putting it in the frezzer on day one and only take it out when i need it? I figured a month in a cupboard at room temp would be alright?
I've never had my nic go bad, it actually has barely changed at all. OP, I store my big bottles in the freezer and I keep a glass 30ml dropper bottle in the freezer also. The 30 ml bottle is my "working nic", I take it out a half hour before mixing to let it warm a bit. The stored nic in the bigger bottles only gets opened when I need to refill the "working" bottle. Also, I always put my nic in first when mixing and immediately seal the bottle back up. This allows me to take some out of my finished bottle if I add too much. Maybe try a similar system OP.
Are you not supposed to keep it in the fridge? I ordered for the first time recently and the info I got said to keep it in the fridge.
I had nic go bad. It changed color and went skunky scented before I could finish the bottles. It made the ejuice taste terrible also. Was the first batches I bought. You know why, because people on this sub were saying to shake it real good because it was VG base. So I kept shaking the bottle Everytime I'd mix. Fortunately they were smaller bottles because I was just starting and pitched them without taking much of a loss.
I quit shaking it and never had that happen again. Maybe OP is shaking it too much, and oxidizing it too much.
This. Never shake.
Also. Store in amber glass, 100% airtight with poly cone cap. Leaving as little air space as possible. Oxygen permeates through LDPE and will oxidize your nic quick.
Store in the freezer, but bring the bottle to room temperature before opening to prevent condensation from getting trapped in the bottle. Water (contains oxygen) will oxidize your nic fast too.
I keep my nicotine out in a drawer, not in a freezer. It might be the brand you are using? I have only been using nudenicotine for now and haven't had any problems. I have a 120ml of 100mg that has been good for the past few months. I'm sure it's losing some potency out of the cold, but I have never had those things you are talking about.
Idk... I've stored nicotine at room temperature for longer than a year before without doing anything special (aside from storing it in a cool, dark spot), and I've never had any go bad on me.
So that means either you're doing something wrong, storage-wise (which doesn't seem to be the case, from what you've stated), or the nic that you're purchasing isn't very high quality. The latter would be my guess.
The only other thing I can think of (from what you've stated) is that you might have a PG sensitivity. The symptoms you mentioned (sore throat, coughing, shortness of breath, etc.) are pretty common complaints from people who suffer from PG sensitivity, but that theory is problematic for a handful of reasons which are probably obvious...
So yeah... Idk man. But I can say that it's unusual. Maybe try a different brand, reconsider your storage options, and maybe test yourself for a PG sensitivity if you're uncertain.
Hope I've been of some help.
I was thinking that as well. Or hell even a vg sensativity. I am trying 0nic right now and it seems to be helping a bit but next i am just going to vape vg and see what happens. I probably have a infection of some type and its just timing. I dunno tho.
I've never heard of anyone with a VG sensitivity, but I suppose it's possible. But PG is much more likely to be the cause, as it's somewhat common actually.
Try a 0mg Max PG mix and see what happens. Just maybe have a friend nearby when you test it in case you have an anaphylactic reaction.
If not, maybe you've just gotten bad batches of nicotine. Something I completely forgot to ask was if the nicotine is discolored or has a peppery taste/smell to it. If the color is off, it's bad or in the process of going bad, no doubt about it. But usually the color shifts due to environment exposure (ie. from improper storage, but it could have been shipped to you after being improperly stored...) and if it's peppery, it's low quality... Either way, if either are true, I'd find a new supplier, because that should fix the issue if you're not PG sensitive and your storage methods are decent.
No but i have had truly bad nic before. Turned orange and smelled just horrible. This stuff is supposed to be the cream of the crop here and the more i think about it the more it is probably a pg sensativity or maybe i straight up have bronchitis right now.
I use 200mg/mL PG nicotine. I left it out once for a day, cap on, in fact there was only a hole in the foil from a syringe. It went from near clear to yellow. Since then I always keep my nicotine in the freezer and have 3x 30mL bottles in the freezer also. I pull one of the 30mL bottles out after I have the rest of my concentrates ready. Shake it inside the plastic bag I keep each one in. Mix everything but the nicotine, shake it again, use it, cap everything and put it away.
