Thank you to everyone who joined in last week's Flavor of The Week, Pineapple.
As always, the purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a flavor and its many uses. And it's also to have FUN!
Post recipes containing this week's Flavor of the Week, as the star or in a supporting role, with or without development notes. Talk about other people's recipes that use it. Compare and contrast different manufacturers' versions of the FOTW. Ask for help using that flavor in general or to achieve something specific, offer advice, brainstorm ideas, consider substitutions, suggest pairings... really anything at all as long as it's on topic.

I only have tried TFA blackberry. It is very good but very strong, don't want to go over 1% with this.
Same here. 0.75% is enough to get you blackberry as a main flavor in a mix. It's also a bit one-dimensional and candied, I'm working on rounding it out with some other berries for a more natural blackberry flavor. But it's quite tasty. I think it's gotten a bad reputation because of people seeing TFA on the label and thinking 5% would be a good standalone to try.
I too also only have TFA Blackberry.
I tested at 4% - sweet, half artificial, half authentic, a bit perfumey at 4%, maybe 3% for stand alone. I quite liked it, but haven't explored with it yet. Should pair well with apples, pears and other berries.
yes that could be the case. You use too much of a flavor and it doesn't matter how good it is it will end up tasting horrible. I made that mistake by sft hs french vanilla ice cream at 4% lol.
I've actually had great success using it in this mix at 3%.
Black ICE
Ingredient|% :---|---: 10% Menthol|1 Acai Berry (TPA)|2 Blackberry (TPA)|3 Koolada 10% (TPA)|1
At 6% total flavoring, this mix packs a flavorful punch. Just a simple berry menthol, although very easy to mix small batches.
> Acai Berry
I have this on a wish list. However never purchased it because the picture looks like a blueberry. How would you describe the flavor?
If I were to try and pick a flavor that it's more similar to I would go with pomegranate. They actually blend really well together also.
Edit - dragonfruit also. It's like somewhere in the middle of pomegranate and dragonfruit. Not as dry as pom. But not as sweet as dragonfruit.
Reddish/berry flavor. Nothing like blueberry though.
I've only tried TFA Blackberry and Alice in Vapeland's Blackberry and definitely prefer the AIV. AIV version is much more realistic IMO.
Blackberry Lemon Cheesecake
5% TFA Cheesecake with Graham
1% AIV Blackberry
0.10% FA Blackcurrant
0.25% FE Lemon
1% TFA Whipped Cream
drop of Saline
Composition: The AIV blackberry is the dominant flavor in this recipe. The addition of the saline is essential IMO as it brings out the juiciness in the blackberry and enhances the flavor. The Blackcurrant was added to add a touch more "darkness" and depth to the berry. I stayed very low because I didn't want the blackberry too "jammy". The FE Lemon also enhances the blackberry and adds a lemon note, as intended by the name. I used a very small amount as to not overpower and not become too "cleanser" like. I would have preferred FA Lemon Sicily but I am out. TFA Whipped cream was added to smooth everything out and add to the cheesecake component.
Alterations I ended up adding 1% TFA Cheesecake because as it steeped (1 and 1/2 weeks), the Cheesecake almost disappeared entirely. I was mainly getting the blackberry and the lemon, which was not bad but I wanted a hint of cheesecake to shine through. I definitely want to still try the FA Lemon Sicily in place of the FE Lemon because I feel the FA goes better in bakery blends. I also want to make just a cake version, which was the original idea but someone mentioned cheesecake so I did this instead.
Interesting, I like AIV so I will have to check it out! Any others of theirs you've tried?
Never been able to make a blackberry work, but I have a couple.
CAP Blackberry- Really floral for Capella. Like a floral blackberry flavor over a weirdly coconut base. Decently juicy, but just doesn't really cohere into a full flavor for me.
FA Blackberry- All floral notes, and ridiculously strong. People claim there's a decent blackberry flavor underneath that intense floral punch, but I've yet to find it. Like 1 drop per 10ml and 3 weeks steep and it's still just perfume to me.
LF/MF Blackberry is a bit better, but still distractingly floral. Actual blackberry flavor is pretty good, but those top notes kill me. Used at .5% and a 2 month steep. May be a bit better at like .2%, but I've yet to put down a second batch of testers to try to dial in the percentages on these.
I've actually found that FLV Boysenberry does a decent job of replicating what I'd want a blackberry concentrate to taste like. Bit too candied and bright, but definitely a dark berry sweetness.
People are sleeping on Inawera's Raspberry/Blackberry.
It tastes like their raspberry koncentrate with a dark, sharp blackberry; almost a red wine sourness. Definitely recommend trying it to add depth to fruit/berries mixes.
I need this.
I'll have to pass on the "sour red wine" never had a wine like that. Could it be a similar flavor to MD 20/20?
hey /u/infra_d3ad what is your latest yogurt blackberry mix? I have few that I'm working on now.
In First Place Is a creamy yoplait yogurt with a little tang to it.

Bahomet's Midnight Snack
Greek Yogurt - FLV @ 4%
Creamy Yogurt - CAP @ 1.5%
Cream FLV - @ 1%
Blackberry - CAP @ 3%
It's still steeping, but trying it this morning after it sat for the night, I'm really liking it. Very yogurt-y and creamy with not too much blackberry, the blackberry compliments it well without taking over.
How is that FW Blackberry? Is it a pretty candied blackberry like you'd expect from FW?
Butter Chicken or maybe French baguette.
I would like to see Blue Mist (blueberry). One of my all time favorite flavor for Shisha, unfortunately, it hasn't translated well into vaping world.
I have had a salted pretzel juice. It wasn't bad. Wouldn't be a adv but it would be good with a beer on occasion
Did it really taste salty?
FW Blackberry: Tart with just the right amount of sweetness. I don't pick up any floral notes like many other vendors' blackberries. I feel comfortable calling this one of the best blackberries out there. I like to mix it with kiwi, strawberry and yogurt.
