My favorite donuts are apple fritters, inspiration for making my own came from u/returnity - whose recipe I did really enjoy.
FA Fuji - 4% CAP cinnamon danish swirl - 3% FW cinnamon roll - 3% LA cream cheese icing - 1% TFA dragon fruit - 0.5% FA joy - 0.5% FA liquid amber - 0.5% FA meringue - 0.5% FA wow - 1.5% FA zeppola - 3%
FA zeppola/FA wOw/FA joy- this is your fried doughnut base, some people get a red filling taste from wow but the cinnamon does a good job hiding it, it adds more volume to zeppola. FA joy adds just a bit of a yeast component found in donuts. FA Fuji/TFA dragon fruit/FA liquid amber- Fuji was an easy choice since I needed a bolder apple to stand up to the cinnamon. I got the idea of adding dragon fruit from returnity on Reddit, it brings out the juicy tartness of the apple and also helps blend the apple and cinnamon. Liquid amber "softens" the apples to cooked perfection. CAP cinnamon danish swirl/FW cinnamon roll- both have a nice cinnamon punch but also have some pastry notes to add overall. LA cream cheese icing/FA meringue- these combined give the thick icing on top of the fritter.
Give this a week to come together.
Mix it up and rate it here: Apple fritter

Dammit! Now I gotta make another flavor purchase! Dangit!

Seriously though-this looks delicious! I'm just getting into mixing, mostly because I could never find a decent baked apple vape. I always bugged TBD to come out with a baked apple-I figured if anyone could pull it off, John could. After making my first, a rather decent cinnamon roll apple danish, I'm starting to see why he never released one. A baked apple is a tricky flavor to nail down. While my first attempt was certainly vapable, it was rather "flat" I think the addition of the Dragonfriut and the Liquid Amber will definitely round out the apple. Now to get my hands on some! Oh, and some Zeppola-what ever the heck that is...
I hope you enjoy it- the zeppola really brings that fried doughnut finish on the end of the exhale.
I had more flavors of returnity's original recipe and still had to sub a lot, but holy shit - that apple taste!
Flavor | Percentage --|--|-- TPA Bavarian Cream | 3.00% TPA Dragonfruit | 0.67% FA Fuji Apple | 4.00% FA Joy | 0.50% FLV Rich Cinnamon | 0.33% TPA French Vanilla Deluxe | 0.50% FA Meringue | 1.00% TPA Cheesecake Graham Crust | 2.00% FA Vienna Cream | 1.00% TPA Graham Cracker Clear | 1.00%
I left out Almond and subbed CAP Cinnamon Danish Swirl with French Vanilla, Meringue, Graham Crust, Vienna Cream and Graham Crackers . Never had CDS before but this is what I read into the reviews.
One bottle certainly won't last long enough, I'll see how I can reduce the amount of flavors and def. get some CDS for the next one.
Thanks for the inspiration!
Is Zeppola called something else in europe maybe? Can't get a hold of it anywhere!
Their official website uses "Zeppola" as well. They don't make it easier for people by using vastly different names across languages and not mentioning the "original" name somewhere on the packaging, I agree :-/
