CAP Sugar Cookie. Damn, there is so much to love about this flavor. Versatile, rich, sweet, slightly buttery with a bit of crunch, CAP Sugar Cookie is an incredibly important flavor for the dessert and bakery mixer. I have always been a straight fruit mixer. I did not do bakeries, but I picked this up to review a mix for somebody and it changed my life. So of course my natural reaction is to put INW CACTUS in it!
Not only did I end up sticking my cactus in the cookie, I feel that I have successfully created a true cactus cookie vape. Cactus cookies apparently exist, but my research (thanks for the direction /u/ID10-T) has mainly turned up healthy looking, fibrous versions containing whole grains. This recipe doesn't suggest any of that healthy shit. Instead, it has a melt-in-your-mouth texture that suggests fats and simple carbohydrates (the good stuff). I present a soft, warm, cactus cookie with a simple sugar glaze.
Flavor | % ---|--- CAP Sugar Cookie | 4% INW Cactus | 1% TFA Kentucy Bourbon | 1% FA Meringue | 0.75% FW Hazelnut | 0.5% TFA Graham Cracker Clear | 1% TFA Brown Sugar | 0.5%
Steep time: 10-14 days
CAP Sugar Cookie @ 4%: This gives me the base cookie for the mix. I tried a few higher percentages (5-7%) as well as a combination with FA Cookie, but this ultimately gives me the vape I want after all of the work is done to balance my cookie with my Cactus. FA Cookie is just too dry/rich tasting here.
INW Cactus @ 1%: This is enough Cactus to make it noticeable (prominent, even) without fighting with the cookie flavor. My goal was not just to throw some cactus in a cookie, but to make it seem like it belongs there and that someone didn't just so happen to make an egregious error while baking. I like it a tad higher, but it adds to the steep time and gets a bit soapy with prolonged vaping.
TFA Kentucky Bourbon @ 1%: This gives the cookie a warm, almost fresh baked character. BUT, more importantly, it helps bring the Cactus and the Cookie together. It combines with the Cactus to infuse with the cookie. It also helps provide a sugar glazed effect when working with some of the other flavors. I don't know how it works, but it does. I included this flavor originally because I wanted to work the Kentucky Bourbon/Toasted Marshmallow combo into this recipe to balance the profile. However, I found that the Marshmallow made it a bit too pillowy/soft feeling, so I took it out. After a couple of versions, I found the ratio of KB to cactus that I liked--1:1.
FA Meringue @ 0.75%: I remembered how well this flavor played with Cactus in Grack Juice, so I felt that I could not miss while using it here. This is mostly here to lend sweetness and some slight milky undertones to balance the mix.
FW Hazelnut @ 0.5%: I used this to add some mild, soft depth to the cookie. The hazelnut flavor blends all the way in after a steep.
TFA Graham Cracker Clear @ 1%: This is to add further depth to the overall profile and help CAP Sugar Cookie with the density of the cookie. I was originally using FA Cookie for this, but it was too assertive. I considered myself just about finished with the recipe once I decided on this addition.
TFA Brown Sugar 0.5%: I added this as a polishing element that adds a touch more depth and sweetness that bring it home.
Why put INW Cactus in a cookie? Because I can. Also, I wanted to complete (what I perceived to be) the challenge from this thread. I am always down to tackle a profile with Cactus!
> Because I can.
Hell yes, brother. Preach!
The earlier version of this with just a tiny bit more Cactus and KB was astonishingly delicious after long steep, perfectly accurate to your description of a fresh-baked, soft cactus cookie with a simple sugar glaze... It's like a cookie that's been baked with candied nopales inside instead of boring stuff like chocolate chips. It didn't start to get a little soapy until I neared the bottom of the 30ml bottle after gleefully vaping it all day. I can only imagine taking the Cactus and KB down a quarter-notch made it even better and am soon to find out for myself. I suspect it's a Grack-caliber home run.
Everyone should take note but there is one person I specifically want to make sure sees it, /u/ConcreteRiver. CR, can your precious FA Cookie do this? Answer: No. No it cannot. Yield, sir. #TeamCAPSugarCookie FTW.
Yeah, that's a pretty serious handicap not being able to mix with cactus and all.
That sounds suspiciously like sarcasm but if it isn't, I couldn't agree more.

Thanks again for the feedback, man! I am no longer on the fence with my cookie allegiances.
The pleasure of the preview was all mine. I'll have to order a bigger bottle to mix this in since 30mls are the largest I have at the moment.
This looks incredibly interesting. I'm the opposite, I mix and vape almost exclusively dessert and bakery so I very rarely use the cactus I have. But this I'll give a shot.
Samesies I made a comment what feels like forever ago and this phucker makes a recipe and remembers to tag me in it. Respeckt
4 months...can you believe it? Haha sorry about the delay! I took my time and you are looking at version 8.
Hey /u/IceEichel. I got your recipe with Cactus as the only fruit flavor.
You know that itch you get when you have all the flavors needed for a new recipe? Well this itch scares me. =D
You know that itch you get when to scroll down the ingredient list getting exited by the fact you have all the flavours so far, almost make it to the bottom then see hazelnut...Bugger. Thinking make it any way without...How much difference could a little hazelnut make?
you'd be surprised. FW hazelnut makes or breaks a recipe, and it's presence is never underestimated.
I'm sure you're right. My comment was mostly tongue-in-cheek. BTW been loving Gods Milk. For me the forward fruit flavour is passion-fruit. I know what the dragon fruit tastes like, and the strawberrys but with the other components it all seems to come together as passion-fruit. Amazing. Thanks.
Lol I'm sure it can subbed with a similar nut.
I've always got a shopping cart or wishlist full ready for another order. What's one more item? BCF has been like fucking Jimmy Johns on the delivery lately for me.
I thought grack looked weird and almost didnt mix it but i did as soon as you put it on that monthly thread. Hell yeah dude ill mix this one up. Love how out of the box they are.
So I'm out of Cactus which is obviously what this recipe is all about. I will definitely mix this up when i get some cactus in. In the mean time i still looked at this list and thought what a great cookie base, so I mixed it up with 1% tfa coconut and it's delicious. Can't wait to try it with the cactus.
Lucky me, I found another recipe from Philo and this time I have all the ingredients hehehe: I have Sugar Cookie v2 , would it be fine?
Haha nice! If you have had good experiences subbing it for V1 in the past, I say go for it. I would just be sure to take the full 2 week steep though.
