Restocked the old lab with what is needed to start testing for lipids and natural sugars in concentrates.
Since it's been a long time for me to being active on here, it seems there are a bunch of new flavors out and even a few new manufacturers.
I'm going to start testing concentrates for lipids and natural sugars and expand my site's warning page more.
If you think a concentrate might have natural sugars in it (i.e., your wick turns black in a day or less), post the flavor here so I can add it to my testing list.
great cant wait to see your results.how do you have time with all the shit you do?shit wish i had your drive and $$$$ lol
DIY noobie here, could you tell me about this guy?
FW Cinnamon Roll. I know it's not on your current list, but it is too ridiculously sweet to not have sugar in it IMO. I would love to hear that it isn't going to give me cancer.
Is the gunking caused by NETs down to sugars?
I've had some, and the coil needed cleaning after about 4ml.
Well, in totally naturally grown tobacco, sugars account for 20 wt% which is quite high. Depending on the extraction process, it's feasible that sugar is also extracted, but I've never tested a NET for it.
I believe in the US and UK, tobacco vendors can add an additional 15 wt% to tobacco as a flavoring, but I'm not sure how exact this is.
It's hard to test for sugars in NETs I think because I can't test for sucrose itself, only reduction sugars like fructose, glucose, etc. Sucrose is non-reducing, so it doesn't show up in the test. Sucrose is the most common sugar added to tobaccos.
I'm kind of curious what's in INW Milk Chocolate, I think that one is worst for the cotton, not the coils. After a short while it looks like a horror show.
Chocolate in general is a shit show for wicking.
Not sure what is in INW but I'll make sure to track some down to test it.
I do know that TFA adds actual caramel color to some of their chocolates. TFA also adds fucking lipids to other chocolate flavors, too, which is a real nightmare. Some of those flavors also have sugar in them, ugh.
Abdada is actually back! Sub feels more like home again.
Anyways, if you could check out LA Lemonade and FW Butterscotch Ripple, that would be appreciated. I use both of those a lot, but they sketch me out. LA Lemonade seems way too sweet to be completely natural, and Butterscotch Ripple... I mean. It's delicious, but it's FW.
This one's a bit obscure but I think I've heard that FW Yellow Cake has Fructose in it.
Also do you have INW Waffle (yc), because it was discontinued for diketones...... by INW ....like they care about diketones. If you've got the equipment to look into anything about a concentrate, that would be one to look into I would say. Although it's not really able to be sold, just for the sake of information.
Lol. I miss yellow cake.
CAP Yellow Cake is better then FW. Try it.
Would you put a link to the existing list for reference?
Already have the old early list just google my username plus concerning flavors
How about TFA Pralines and Cream?
Never heard of anyone concerned with that one and the disclosures don't list any natural sweeteners in it.
Good enough for me. I had a pretty gunkifying recipe using that as the main flavor so I was curious
Keep up the awesome work! And keep us updated! I love it /u/abdada - I will update ELR's warning list with full credit to you of course!
Sorry, I've been out of this for a year. Where is the ELR warning list?
Dr. Pepper Type Flavor (FW) - pretty sure this gunked my coils super quick in a soda mix i did recently. As a side note, its a pretty terrible flavor for Dr. Pepper recipes.
Slightly off topic, but curious if you have info. Is the alcohol in flavoring concentrates something to be concerned about? Is there enough in there that it'd produce a side effect (I've heard questionable stories about feeling "buzzed" from them without a thorough steep)? Or, is it fairly negligible in most cases? Last question on this, as far as steeping goes for flavors with alcohol, I'm assuming that should be done with some sort of venting, right?
Welcome back! good to have you around again.
