Setup: Derringer RDA, Single 7 wrap 26g 3mm Kanthal Clapton @ 1.08 ohms. 42w power, Koh Gen Doh cotton wick.
Testing: INW Melon @ 1% 70/30 VG/PG, Steeped 0 days.
Flavor Description: Sweet cantaloupe, honeydew blend. Definitely tastes the most like a canary melon than any other type of melon that comes to mind. No rind to speak of and is quite juicy on the inhale and exhale.
Off-flavors: Not much at 1%; however, I plan on upping the percentage to 2% to see if this changed. Can be a bit cloying/candy-like if dripped too heavily/vaped for an extended period.
Throat Hit: Minuscule throat hit, but could be due to lack of steeping.
Uses & Pairings: I would be happy to vape this as a single flavor in the 1-2% range if dripping. Might need to up the percentage a tad if using a tank (maybe 2.5%), but the sweetness might also increase.
As far as pairings go, subbing/adding this into melon mixes could help add juiciness as well as a bit of sweetness to drier/rind-ish tasting melon flavors. From personal experience, it goes very well with FA Kiwi and INW Cactus (shameless personal recipe plug, "Mellow Kiwi").
Notes:
S&V concentration testing:
-
1% is an extremely enjoyable lighter canary melon flavor when dripped. A bit airy, but very low sweetness/candy.
-
2% is sweet, with almost no rind to speak of. Full on canary melon flesh when dripped. Pleasantly juicy as well. This would be my choice as a stand alone percentage.
-
3% smell becomes pretty intense and has a slight sharp peppery note to it (kind of off putting in other words). Taste is candy-like and almost overly ripe. Honey dew is definitely coming through and the flavor seems a bit heavy. Still no throat hit and I wouldn't mind this as a stand alone at all if using a tank. Definitely a bit too sweet to vape for too long on my RDA.
Second Opinions: Previous Review by u/chrisdvr1 - https://redd.it/4q57vh
Singing the praises on this one.
u/JohnLaCuenta believes it to be a honeydew forward type of melon.
I absolutely love this flavoring at 2.5%, though I don't get any candy flavor from it, and I love my fruits on the brink of overripe. It's got some of that wetness/juiciness to it that Inawera is so great at.
It stands really well on its own and doesn't play well when it's crowded with many other flavors in my experience. It goes very well with FA pear to add some tartness to it.
I think my pallet is sensitive to sweetness since I find some flavors sweeter than most others...should have added that to my review.
You are definitely right about it needing to be in a simple mix. I tried mixing it in a pineapple/apple blend and it would just not come out enjoyable. Will have to try it with some FA Pear sometime.
Also, thanks to u/ConcreteRiver ...I may or may not have stolen his format :)
And I stole whiskey's. It's not theft, it's one sided-collaboration. Seriously though, it's a great flavor. And nice review, I find the % testing stuff super useful.
It is good to have a second opinion. Here is a previous review.
How did I not see this?!
Thank you for linking it.
No problem. Not sure how you missed it either ;) That is the one that made me order this flavor. It is nice to see it making a comeback. That mellow kiwi looks up my alley too--I shall shake that up.

Thanks for the link. I definitely missed your review while perusing the Wiki (I use it monthly when I'm stocking up on flavors). Will promise to pay closer attention!
Also, thank you for all the awesome info you've provided this sub. I have used quite a few of your recipes as inspiration.

Thanks for the detailed review!!!
I said honeydew in that other thread but you're right that it's actually a mix. Great review, percentages are particularly helpful!
I've been thinking of making a cucumber melon mix for a while now. Maybe I'll give this a shot.
I have played around with a CAP Cucumber/INW Melon mix with little success. Something in my mind won't separate the taste of that cucumber flavor to the scent of the Bath and Body Works soap. ]
I think that's kind of what I was going to go for haha. I just really like the way those soaps/lotions/candles smell. Might make for a funky vape though.
