for the new mixers that want to get into mixing by weight, the recommended scale is currently back down to it's normal price.

Well that sucks for me, I paid $36 when I ordered a week ago.

Eh ya I mean I could have spent the extra $10 on more flavors, but it's not so bad in the grand picture. I mean I spend probably $10 a day on lunch.

That scale is worth the extra $10, so I wouldn't be too upset

Mine is coming the mail today...seriously Amazon bought it Saturday, don't they refund the difference if you just bought it the price drops?

if you bought it with a credit card call them and they can give you cash back for the price difference. they have a buyer protection for price changes

It looks like they don't do that anymore. http://www.pcworld.com/article/3074347/internet/amazon-stops-offering-refunds-for-after-purchase-price-drops.html

I think they will within 14 days with no Hassel. And if withing 30 just say you will return it and they will usually give you a refund

Same here and it should have been delivered today and waiting for me when I get home.

Marginally annoying but not the end of the world.

Got mine over the weekend. Definitely recommend it. Just make sure to plug it in.

i'm lucky enough that i have basically a whole room to devote to mixing so i just leave mine plugged in.

I dream of the day I graduate (college) and move out so I can finally build a mixing room complete with a custom built building table and storage.

Yeah and when you do you will be dreaming of the day you use to drop your mum 200$ a month for ironing food washing heating air con etc etc ;-)

haha. it's not as grandiose as it sounds. it's just a spare bedroom that has my weights and media server in it. when i started diy i used to just sit at the kitchen table but as i started accumulating more and more stuff and after the 3rd time i had a bottle leak in the container i was storing them in i said fuck it and set up a dedicated mixing/coil building station.

Why plug it in?

If you use the batteries, it will auto-turn-off after so long and you'll lose your weight.

It does take a while to auto off though I always just use batteries and never had a problem unless I got pulled away for over 5 minutes of weight not changing.

It does, but if you take that long to add in the next component, you're doing it wrong.

It only turns off if there's no change in the weight for me, just make sure you're prepared before mixing and if you need to take some time to do something put a finger on the scale once in awhile. I love having the option to plug it in, but I haven't used it yet and have had no issues with the auto shut off.

These are £70-115 on the UK Amazon...is there a recommended alternative around the same price as they are on the US store?

just looked around uk amazon and of the scales i saw this one looked like it'd work the best. it's still battery powered though and i couldn't find any suitable ones that plugged into the mains.

I bought this one, haven't really used it yet but auto shut-off can be switched off and accuracy seems to be +- 0.03g.

I will probably buy this one as the auto shut-off sounds like it could be annoying with others. Thanks

Just under £40 delivered to the UK.

I just ordered one off ebay, from this guy, since I had my mind set on one of those. Cheaper than UK amazon, not as cheap as on the US one though. You could also check out one from the US sellers using global shipping programme, and see if the cost of shipping plus import taxes is better in your case. Was slightly cheaper than the one I ordered, didnt want to wait the few extra days for it though.

so mine has broken... keeps flashing erratic numbers and the o-ld back and forth. went to go order a new one and seems no longer offered new from amazon? ones new from other sellers are $50-100 o.O

any alternatives that are 500x0.01g without auto shutoff? i see some 200x0.01g but that is pushing the weight limit at times for my uses. guess maybe i cant have a do it all scale at that resolution anymore?

ended up getting this one: https://www.amazon.com/American-Weigh-Scales-Personal-Nutrition/dp/B00A76VKAG/ref=pd_sbs_79_4?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00A76VKAG&pd_rd_r=KN8DVDZVMZ0G6DPJ446C&pd_rd_w=BMxEF&pd_rd_wg=uPaYp&psc=1&refRID=KN8DVDZVMZ0G6DPJ446C

My pocket American Weigh scale just started to do this.

Did you try contact the manufacturer?

According to their site they offer a 10 year limited warranty.

Assuming you didn't just trash it, you might be able to get a replacement.
