Setup: Geekvape Tsunami 24mm; 7 wrap 24/32awg kanthal claptons @ .32Ω; cotton wicks; 60 W
Testing: Capella Cereal 27 @ 4%; Aged: 1 week
Flavor description: Grainy and a bit nutty, with a layer of sugary honey glaze. It's like someone took bran flakes, mixed them with ground nuts, and coated it all with a honey glaze.
Off-flavors: Nothing really off vs what the name suggests.
Throat hit: 3/10, pretty smooth but has a noticeable threshold where you do feel a little something after a decent draw.
Uses: 1-2% will add a sweet, honey-like, and subtle crunchy/nutty note to your bakery recipe, 3-6%+ makes it noticeably crunchy and grainy base for a cereal recipe, but will also bring some nuttiness to the party.
Pairings: Dairy, berry fruits, biscuit, cookie, cake, nuts, brown sugar, maybe even a tobacco recipe that needs a sweet note.
Notes: This flavor lacks enough depth to be a standalone for me, however @ 4% it is a nice sweet, nutty, and slightly crunchy vape. I'm not able to taste any slight berry notes suggested by other tasters.
Flavor available at BCV here CAP Cereal 27
Spot on. I'm working on a recipe that really evokes the memory of Grandma slicing up bananas into my corn flakes, and Cereal27 was the key. Just waiting on long term steep results to see how much it changes between 1 month and 3 months.
Great review, it's exactly what I would have wrote, had I possessed the talent!
Honestly, the hardest part is typing them up. The rest is just jotting down what you taste and feel in your mouth when you try a flavor. Relatable aromas, tastes, something that would go well with it, etc. Throw it all in the format, share, rinse, repeat.
Thanks for the writeup wh1skey. Been toying with the idea of getting some of this stuff and I think I need to get some to play around with now. Kinda wanted to take the tobacco notion further and experiment in that direction. Do you think pairing it with a RY4 style tobacco would be overly sweet if I wanted a slightly sweet, light tobacco flavor?
I don't see why it wouldn't play well with RY4. I have some of both and have actually thought about combining the two. It will definitely be a bit sweet, but I don't believe overly so. I think incorporating a bit of cream will help mellow it out as well.
I think for me personally it would be a little sweet for my liking. Not that it wouldn't be good though!
I'd almost try it with a more tobacco forward flavor of your choice if you are after something less sweet.
I never ordered this, and based on your review, my assumption of what it taste like was spot on... i really hate than bran flakes type of cereal...
but it would be awesome to somehow mix this into a sugary sweet frosted flakes flavor, people would probably go crazy over that
i've been playing with this a bit and think this recipe tastes like a spot-on kix cereal. i'd love some feedback, these are pretty common flavors apart from the C27.
>Cereal 27 (CAP) 4%
>Cream Fresh (FA) 1%
>Meringue (FA) .5%
>Sweet Cream (CAP) 1%
at 7% cereal 27 i found it was leaning more towards a pops or honeycomb cereal.
with .5% AP, 4% C27, .5% meringue it was closer to a frosted flake.
I'll try that out, but I'm going to have to sub TPA sweet cream. I got some cereal 27 about a month ago but have yet to try it. To me it smells kind of like captain crunch but without the berries.
Never had tfa's Sweet cream, is it wildly different? I've heard some people get a berry-ish taste from cereal 27 but I don't get that at all. It smells like corn flakes to me.
