Nicotine added to juice and now tastes horrible
submitted over 8 years ago by davidkudrev

Oh yeah, one of them posts and I apologise in advance if this is in the wrong thread. So...

I bought some juices as a doubler and the store added in the pg/VG (50/50) and all was well! When I added in the nicotine (25mg in a 100ml bottle with 100% VG), and I used a doubler calculator and double checked with two sites to make sure the measurements were correct.

But the juices now taste much worse! :( I'm starting to wonder if I left the bottle in the fridge too long (2 weeks and put the bottle in the fridge three weeks ago), or I didn't let the whole thing steep long enough? Last time I left the ejuice with nic in bottles in the cupboard for a week, and turned out great..

I wouldn't mix if it was legal in Australia for stores to sell juices with nicotine, but I'm wondering if the Nic I bought went off or was bad to begin with?

Did you shake the nicotine very well before mixing? Where did you get the nic from? Have you used this batch of nicotine in other juices before? Storing it in the fridge won't hurt, especially considering we're in the middle of summer. I'd leave it out for a few hours to get back to room temp before using it though, otherwise it will be too viscous to use.

Ohhhh crap, I had a feeling I forgot one step.. thank you I'll give that a try with the next juices I mix with!!

Thank you so much for the advice folks! I think my mixtures are buggered now as there's be inconsistencies.. okidoke, rookie mistake, I'll try again with another lot of doublers I get next time. Thank you again for the advice!

Yep. That's probably the issue. VG based nic gets pretty bad hotspots if not shaken really well before mixing.

If you hold it up to the light and can see "streaks" in the glycerine....keep shaking.

I reccomend running the bottle under warm water (not hot) if it's cold from the fridge/freezer.

Anytime mate. It's an easy thing to look over but it will make the world of difference, if they're un vapable you might be able to add some pg/vg and try to dilute teh doubler down a little bit, the flavour won't be as strong but the juice won't be as spicy. If you really get stuck for juice and if you're in Adelaide I can help you out with a 30ml bottle or two of diy juice.

Yeah I might invest in a couple of bottles of PG and VG in case anything like that happens again. I appreciate the kind offer of liquids but I'm stocked up, it's just I'm bummed that I ruined a recent purchase. Thank you again, and thank you everyone! Awesome community here!!

Some fierce storm last night huh? ;)

Update: I found some VG in the cupboard that I forgot I bought and diluted the bottles up evenly. Will give that a shot, thank you all!!

Did you shake TF out of the nic juice before mixing? Nicotine has the tendency to form hotspots (those are invisible), so it's best to shake it before use.
