Need some insight knowledge
submitted over 8 years ago by Hobergss

So i just bought the stuff to make your own e-liquid but i just came across a post where a guy asked how much nicotin he needed to use to get 3mg in a 100ml mix. So here's the thing i bought a 500ml base with a strenght of 3mg thinking my 100ml mix would be 3mg nicotine. Is this wrong and am i totally screwed? :D

Cheers - Hoberg

I wouldn't worry about it. The percentage of flavorings will bring down the mix's nic concentration, but not much.

  • at 20% flavor, nic is 2.4 mg/ml
  • at 15% flavor, nic is 2.55 mg/ml
  • at 10% flavor, nic is 2.7 mg.ml
  • at 5% flavor, nic is 2.85 mg/ml

Can you really feel the difference between 2.4 and 3 mg/ml ?

Not really "screwed" in the sense that there's no way to fix it. You just need to buy some 100 mg/ml nicotine to make up the difference.

Anything you add will lower your nic so 3mg is as high as you can make with your base. Sorry

You should get your nic in at least 48mg imo

If you want 3 mg or higher, yes you are screwed

Just to clarify, it's 3mg/ml so every ml of your base has 3mg. Pour it in whatever size bottle you want and it's still 3mg. But it's only 3mg/ml until you add flavoring to the equation. Your final mix will vary in nic strength depending on the amount of a flavor your recipe calls for.

Yes, you're screwed. What exactly did you buy, and what do you normally like vaping? Like 70vg 30pg

Just add max 5% flavorings and you really won't notice that much difference in the nic level. Next time buy a the nicotine separate in a higher concentration (at the very least 36mg/ml) and learn from the mistake :)

Sweet. 5%, eh ....... lemme see. Your choices are pretty much 3% anything FA as a main base, with pretty much 1% anything FA, then another combination of 1% TFA Guava, TFA Raspberry sweet, FA Honey, or TFA Pineapple. YMMV

It's impossible to say since we don't know their flavor stash.
