Just a quick post that may be helpful to preppers.
I ordered several Carolina Extracts Super Critical 120ml, 100mg Certified Organic VG Sample Bottles to test long term storage viability in November 2015. These are the amber glass Boston round bottles with the rubber dropper. I am primarily interested in if the nicotine oxidizes, or develops odd flavors after long term storage.
These bottles were left manufacturer sealed, and kept in a freezer most of their life. During a move, they were removed from the freezer, and stored in the dark under air at 72-74 degrees for 3 weeks, than returned back to the freezer.
I just opened the second bottle at the 1 year, 11 day mark after bringing it to room temperature. The bottle was still manufacturer sealed, and the rubber dropper still indicated that the bottle held negative air pressure like the day it was manufactured.
I did not notice anything odd about the nicotine after opening. The concentrate is still clear with no odd odors. I have vaped a third of the bottle diluted to 10mg strength. And, I really have nothing negative to say about it. It's as perfect as the day i purchased it. I notice no degradation at all. I have not performed titration testing, though I do not notice any loss in its potency.
I will open the next bottle at the 2.5 year mark (May/June 2018).
I left a 120ml test bottle out all summer on purpose -- up to 85 degrees in my house. Was never in sunlight always in the dark cabinet.
Nic has a caramel color and a bit of a scent (not offensive) but no harshness or off flavors.
I also gave it a lot of air whenever I dispensed, so it was a pretty harsh test subject.
Pretty much my experience... VG/120ml, living in Ohio without central air from late Winter/early Spring through Fall, varying between 55F on the low end to 85F, some days upwards of 90F, my CX 120 (in the original bottle) without any argon, was nearly as clear as the day I bought it. Sunlight was indirect, ambient daylight (near (<10') two windows, east and south facing); After ~9 months, no harshness, no scent and in no way unpleasant -- Side by side, fresh (within a week of ordering) vs dated, I noted a nearly indiscernible pepper to it and a very, very slight caramel color (think difference between a stark white and eggshell white)...
PG/120ml (3-6 month test, same conditions but higher nic concentration in my finished product, hence the shorter test time) started with a slight pink tint, darkening slightly over time, but also not unpleasant; peppering may have been a slight bit more pronounced closer towards the end of the bottle after 6 months, but still not unpleasant/intolerable.
Welcome back, bud!
I've left my 120ml bottle of PG nic from them out since I bought it. Not sure how long I've had it but I just used it all up recently and I vape at 1.5mg, so maybe 6-7 months. This was the best nic I've had yet. The color, smell, taste, etc... all great even after not storing it "properly" for all that time. I really like the bottle that it came in, the dropper worked consistently well the whole time. The cap at one point did possibly break inside because it screws on a little bit crooked.
They changed something at some point, though. I wonder if they've actually enhanced their filtration process during extraction or are just picking a better supply. I've been a CXTC advocate for a long time now and I know my batch from 2015 did NOT age as well during long term testing. I have gallons of nic (even though I am virtually nic-free now, lolol) stored for long term availability just in case, and the oldest batches do NOT age as well. They're still great, but after 6 months of room temperature I saw there is more of a peppery taste in unflavored 6mg/ml e-liquid. The 2016 batches have had zero issues for me here. I even tasted a 12mg/ml unflavored mix recently and while it zings like nicotine, there was no foul aftertaste.
Out of respect for others, I won't be releasing the taste tests of other brands of nic because I did not buy enough batches to make an honest opinion, but I can say that everything else I tried ended up being too discolored or peppery or harsh after 6 months in the room temperature cabinet.
My 2014 recommendation for nicotine is the same as always: buy enough to use within 90 days if you can. Don't buy for long term use, just in case.
It's the best nic I have tried. I don't like the salts.
How come? Does it have to do with taste? Mixing quality?
Sorry noobie studying up before making purchases.
i get their VG 120ml 100mg "sample" bottles about once a year and when i get it, i dilute it to 24mg/ml and put those in the freezer, no argon added but filled fairly full to top. even at end of the year no change in taste at all [no taste at all honestly]... cleanest nic i have used and much better than what commercial juicers use. so i spend $26? or so with shipping over a year [i mix 1-2mg]... fantastic stuff!
So I've never checked it cxtx, I went to their Pete and found " 120ML SAMPLE 100MG/ML NIC/COVG" for $17.99. Why the huge price cut? Is it a one time deal? Are you paying that much extra for the metal cylinder in the others?
How does this stuff compare to some of the other big names it there, like, MFS, WizardsLabs, Nude Nicotine, etc... ? Also, is shipping reasonable? No $50 shipping charge for an $18 bottle (though that's still less, lol)?
Thanks!
Shipping is $12 to my area for a sample bottle.

Their vessels allow you to withdraw small amounts of nicotine concentrate without exposing the rest of the nicotine to oxygen. Holds large quantity - 11,000 ML's and up.
It's greatly superior nicotine imo. USA organic tobacco and different extraction processing which doesn't use petroleum ethers. Supposedly not exposed to oxygen till you open the bottle either. Which, if that is the case, should store well long term if kept manufacturer sealed, cold and away from light.
This is also a good resource for long term nic storage:

Though, don't add water. And, while sealed oxygen-free at the manufacturer is the best possible way to go, a poly cone cap should be an effective seal too.
