I want to make an eliquid blend that closely approximates mountain oak vapors' Apache™ blend, but is tuned to my tastes.
It's a NET eliquid (Naturally Extracted Tobacco), from their site. They say that it's a "full bodied English blend of flue-cured Virginia (for lightness I suppose), Oriental and Latakia tobaccos..."
It tasted really peppery from the latakia, and I really liked this juice. It tasted smokey, but had the right blend of light and dark tobacco.
I was wondering where to start to source tobacco flavors of this type, and what other people would suggest as to how to begin making batches to make a blend that tastes like a peppery latakia, but full-bodied light and dark flavor.
I am also interested in sourcing beta-carbolines to add to my blends. I understand that WTA eliquid would be the way to go, if I wanted a packaged eliquid. I could also extract beta-carbolines from syrian rue, or yage. However, it seems like there'd be some better, less tedious way to get harmaline, harmine, or beta-carbolines to add to the liquid.
I'm currently considering where to source my first set of nicotine base etc. I'm thinking of WL, NN, or NicRiver for my 100mg/ml base.
Still pricing syringes, flavors, other equipment and etc...

If its NET then your best bet is /r/diytobaccoejuice - youll have to extract
If youare going to try artificial avoid anything with the world "oriental / virginia / burley" flavorah will be the base - for the latakia any artificial will do - all brands are essentially interchangeable
For beta carbolines check /r/deeper_diy
Id have to try the apache blend to give you more details but if you do go the NET route im happy to help

My main goal for the moment, is to make an eliquid that approximates the beta-carboline profile of analog Nicotine sources, but obviously without the same levels of TSNAs, etc.
I have some Rustica homegrown leaves that I could try an NET with. They've been curing for about two years now. However sourcing a vacuum-filter set-up, etc is currently a bit out of my price range. Also, it's N. rustica, that I'd be making an extract of, so checking the Nicotine levels in the final liquid might be difficult, and could add more hazard to sampling a final product, simply because of the already high nicotine content of N. rustica leaves.
I checked out the other subreddit that you mentioned, while I was researching this topic.
Could I use FA's synthetic latakia and an NET of Flue-cured Virginia leaves, Burleys, and Oriental/Turk varieties, as the Latakia would be more expensive to procure.
Should I do an alcoholic extract first, then filter with the coffee filters, then evaporate under vacuum and then add to the PG?
Or would an alcoholic extraction not be a good idea?
Yes you can! "Hybrid NET" works wonderfully
In my opinion alcohol extraction is best for cigars (leaves out aome of the finer notes in a burley or virginia) but I only played with it a little - if you go to thr "NET part deux" megathread on ECF (sidebar on the diytobacco sub) and search you'll find some other folks experiments and opinions and maybe they figured out a better way to do it
Apache is a pretty good NET. Getting there using synthetic concentrates is going to be extremely difficult.
I understand this. I'm assuming it would be easier to just get the various whole leaves and make my own NET.
I'll have to wait on getting a soxhlet then.
How about the alkaloids though? go the same route with making them myself? I know syrian rue or yage are a source, however making an extract is tedious.
