PRL Ocean Myst
submitted over 8 years ago by HashSlingingSlashur

Setup: Mutation v4, Dual 24g N80 7 wrap 3mm id, full wicks

Testing: Purilum Ocean Myst 7% 70%VG steep 3 days

Flavor Description: Tart, sweet and crisp grape juice flavor. Pretty artificial. Tastes somewhere between an Ocean Spray Grape-Cranberry and Grape Kool Aid. There’s a nice dark, candy grape flavor shining through. It has a somewhat cool finish and is not very ‘juicy’ on its own. I find it lacks body for a juice at here at 7% but it is very tasty standalone.

I recommend this at 8-10% by itself or with a touch of INW cactus and koolada.

Off-flavors: Nothing really. Its got a little bit of cranberry peeking through but I think that was intended.

Throat Hit: Mild to none (1/10)

Uses: Grape Drink! This is going to be used mainly for drink recipes, candies or just straight up fruit blends. Works great as a grape/light cranberry base. I find the cranberry stands out more after about a month and the darker grape notes die out. This blends well with other flavors in personal use from 4-10% anything less than 4% gets lost easily.

Pairings: Fruit pairings: Some berries (strawberry/cranberry come to mind first), mango, pear, apple, guava, pomegranate, exotic fruits, more grape? and definitely prickly pear (cactus). This can work with vanilla if you like that sort of thing. Definitely a great concentrate to make grape drinks or candies. Citrus can work sometimes but flavors like FA lime tahity may not play well with this one.

Notes: Definitely a great shake and vape flavor. After a couple of weeks the grape fades and the cranberry stands out a little more. At 9-10% it steeps better and is my preferred standalone for this one.

A quick shake and vape recipe I like is:

PR Ocean Myst 9%

Koolada .5%

INW Cactus .3%

NN Erythritol 2%

Second Opinions:

Not a lot out there on this one and it is the only grape flavor I own.

There’s three reviews on Nicotine River’s site all very positive stuff.

If you decide to pick this up or maybe you just need a reason to, check out my Skittles recipe, it’s a simplified version of another skittles recipe I found. Ocean Myst pulls its weight in that recipe and I think it came out fantastic. Shake it vape it and love it

Side-note: on ATF this is still Nicotine River Ocean Myst, or NR ocean myst. Same stuff.

Would anyone care to rate the PRL line as a whole? This flavor in particular sounds wonderful.

This is the only one I own but I plan to buy a couple more next time I order from NR. The strawberry biscuit and goldeneye have rave reviews and I would definitely order those. The golden eye is a mango fruit mix, sounds wonderful. They've also been releasing new flavors quite often, the quality and price are comparable to everything else we use in diy.

Are they mostly a standalone mix company or does the flavors play well with others
Edit I did read where you said pairings but I was jw if you've heard anything about using them

I used this in my skittles recipe and it blends amazingly with everything else, i used like 6 dif vendors in that recipe. at 4% it holds its own in the mix and the thing tastes like throwing a handful of skittles in your mouth. https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/26122#skittles_v1_by_vdevil

Their strawberry biscuit has been used in a couple recipes on ATF

I've tried Flavorah - Grape, it tasted like a very artificial grape soda flavor to me but without the bubbles. Is this comparable, if you have tried them both?

This doesn't give me a grape soda vibe, I think of grape kool aid but the most accurate description is what this is supposed to be: Crangrape ocean spray. after a steep the cranberry part shows up more.
