I was wondering if anyone steeps their flavour concentrates individually before mixing them. I have some concentrates in the mail (TFA's) and was thinking of mixing them at 10% with 45%vg/45%pg. Then once they have steeped and their own flavour has come to fruition I would then blend them together in small amounts, say 10ml bottles to experiement with blends. Does anyone use a technique like this?
Essentially all that would achieve is dilution of each individual concentrate.
When mixing concentrates and allowing time for them to mingle and become friends is when the magic usually happens (this process can also be started as a concentrate base, prior to mixing with VG).
Are you saying standalone mixes don't change with time? Cause that's definitely not true. Aging flavors separately is not a bad idea, since some of them get better and others fade.
What I do though is mix everything that needs to age first, and add the flavors that fade when I'm ready to vape.
No, everything changes with time ;) I was simply hinting that VG alone isn't going to alter aroma compounds much, and that any difference in the ageing of a single flavour whether it be left as a concentrate or diluted in VG would be minimal.. the real changes happening when all the aroma compounds of a recipe are mixed and left to interact.
This is a bad idea for a whole bunch of reasons, with little to no benefit over normal mixing.

Was hoping I wouldn't have to, but very well. Concentrate strengths vary, use the same percentage for them all and you'll have a bad time.
You'll be stuck at 10% total flavor. Put three flavors in the mix? Still 10% total flavor.
Suppose mixing apple and pear gives you a great apple flavor, and mixing strawberry, kiwi and lemon gives you a great strawberry. Now, if you'd want to combine the apple and the strawberry, what are your percentages? Have fun figuring that out.
If you steep some flavors, then add in other flavors that have steeped for less time, and it turns out great, you'll have a hard time recreating it without repeating the process the exact same way.
What's the benefit though? It's actually more work than just completing the mixes right away.

You can always just add more pure concentrates to the mix if you are not satisfied with the flavour of your pre mixed mixes and up the total percentage, but then incur a longer steep time I guess. The %'s are not final the flavours on their own should be and once they are ready they can then be mixed with others!?
I was just thinking about limiting the steeping time upon testing your creations. I mix different ready to vapes into my tank atm and even with no steeping time they all taste unique and great.

Your idea. Fundamentally, most the concentrates you'll get from TFA are about 90-99% PG (Source) So you'll want to probably want to change your ratio around a bit....just sayin.
I come from a background of Pizza Making. It was my first job for a long time. You just take 5 things, put roughly equal portions of them and boom perfect, a good pizza.
Now why can't you do this with concentrates? Each one has a wildly different interpreted strength. Obviously together different things have different strengths, but with a pizza, you can throw whatever the fuck and it's still good.
I believe if you were to take this logic from pizza toppings and apply it to concentrates it would apply.
Dillute/Strengthen each concentrate so each one is equal to one flavor shot. Then it could make mixing a totally different ballgame.

I was thinking a similar thing to your pizza analogy. Get your single flavours and ratios sorted. Try them all individually and get a true understanding for them. Then mix them into recipes.
Yeah I think it'd only work with a very limited set of concentrates, and it would take a while to nail down the most acceptable ones to go with the system.

Turns out my method works great with the convenience of quick mixing. I have steeped 12 juices seperately in larger bottles 50ml* for fruity flavours and 30*mls for the stronger flavours like coffee, tobacco, caramel and chocolate. All the flavours seem to have come out by day 6 except TFA Blueberry and I've been mixing them up in 3ml containers (I have a 3 ml tank). So to conclude - I have had minimal wastage and the concoctions I have made have all seemed quite nice. If I like one of my mini 3ml mixes I then make a 10-20ml and label them.
I also made a choc caramel which is pretty darn amazing. a 50/50 mix of TFA double dark choc (dark) @ 12% and FW caramel candy @ 10%. Also adding TFA coffee to this works great too. The only grouch I have is the FW caramel candy contains acetoin :( I'm trying to keep all my flavours baddie free but if you don't mind acetoin this is a superb mix and a mix that I'm going to have to give up unfortunately.
You will need to steep them again so that the juice will homogenize
yeah I was thinking a 3-4 day extended steep on the blends!? Also only adding nic to my blends and keeping it out of my pure flavours.
While I wouldn't do it to use as a flavor base personally, when I've had a mix of flavors that I like with a long steep and shake n vape (I like some of the Medicine flowers a lot day after mixing), I've mixed the long steep ones first and waited a week or two to mix in the other flavors which is kind of a similar sort of situation...but not really.
