OK new mixers, this is your thread to ask any questions you want of the DIY eJuice community. All posts are allowed, but we still encourage you to use the sidebar and search features before asking any questions.
- Placing your first DIY order and want to make sure you have all you need?
- Not sure about how to mix your first bottle?
- Want to get started but aren't sure how?
- Any other questions? ... then this is the thread for you. FWIW, the answers to the first three questions will eventually be found in the wiki (still in development); link at the top of the page.
Ask away!
Did we ever find an acceptable replacement for FW Yellow cake? If so, how would you say it compares to FW?
I know a lot of people diy to get away from super sweet juice that premium juices are like, but I love those juices. I really don't care if it gunks up my coils. How do I make juices like that? Just add sweetener? I have a bottle of sweetener from vape wild, is it probably just Sucralose?
I recommend TFA Sweetener, It has Sucralose & Maltol. I usually throw in 1.5% into all my test recipes before I get the recipe right.
After you get the recipe near perfect, cut down on the sweetener and use an ingredient that more naturally sweetens it while adding a hint of character that matches the profile of the recipe.
Hey guys! Still a new timer here, have been experimenting with diy for the past few months.
I had a question about base recipes. Does anyone actually have some that they use? For example a simple cookie base where you can add some more ingredients to get variants? (Chocolate cookie, peanut butter cookie ect).
I'm basically looking for some simple bases I can experiment with easily. Mainly cookies, cakes, milkshakes and yogurts, donuts, cupcakes.
Thanks <3
/u/ID10-T has a great sugar cookie recipe that would work well for what you need here is the ATF link
Thanks PP. What /u/usx-tv is asking for is one of my main reasons for sharing that recipe, to provide something that's easy to tweak and add things to.
I'm using a single recipe- TFA Strawberry Ripe at 15%, 30PG/70VG, 1%nic using vaporstek. The throat hit seems very harsh compared to my other 1% mixes. Is the throat hit caused by the Strawberry Ripe at such a high %?
I want to try DIY but I don't know where to buy or what to buy. I'm going to use a 70VG/30PG mix with 3 nic. I like fruity, creamy, cereal, and Mountain Dew juices. Can anyone suggest a supplier setup and ingredients? I know it's a big ask, but I would appreciate the advice.
Do you live in the U.S.?
Yes.
You could get flavors from Bull City Flavors, E-Cig Express, Nicotine River, GremlinDIY, and several others, I think those are the most popular. I don't know about Mountain Dew but you might find get an idea by looking at these:

Fruit and cream is covered pretty well here:

Let me know if I failed to answer your question, I'll try again.
Is all VG/PG the same? Or is there one I should go with? I was going to buy from Liquid Barn.
Got my first kit today, so im gonna keep my nicotine in the freezer
but I am unsure if I should keep my pg/vg in the freezer(low on space and is kinda bulky)
and reaally unsure if I should keep my flavours in the freezer, I think I remember reading once upon a time it can damage some types
Freezer nicotine.
Fridge Flavors.
Always bring to room temperature before opening.
Life is good.
This is just a shot in the dark, but I had an interesting idea the other day. So I see how a lot of people develop recipes using the layering method (base, top notes, bottom notes). I was wondering if pre-steeping the various layers and then blending them would have a different effect on the overall flavor of the liquid. I'm hoping it might achieve more distinctive layers to flavors and to hopefully more accurately fit flavor profiles. I only ask because I've noticed certain flavorings don't interact very well and can muddle or otherwise taint the intended flavor.
For example, if I premixed a cheesecake base and a strawberry blend for the top note, let them steep seperately for a week or so and then blended both of these mixes; would the difference in flavor be negilible? Furthermore, if there was an initial difference in flavor (vs the same recipe being mixed all at once), would this go away after the premixed blends steeped together. Maybe it would only be good for small batches of S&V liquids as to avoid any further steeping.
Thanks for your consideration guys.
"Maybe it would only be good for small batches of S&V liquids as to avoid any further steeping."
This ^.
I have tested the theory. It works for a very short amount of time, then the flavours blend as they would if you had made the complete recipe/mix in one go. So, yeah, if you want to get the distinct layer effect then only combine the two when you are ready to vape it.
A no-steep version of this happens with equal parts Caramel, Marshmallow and Peanut Butter (all TFA). Shake and vape, it tastes like each of the components, allowed to blend for a week and it will taste like cheap coffee.
Hello all,
I recently mixed up some Mother's Unicorn Milk using the recipe below but I was honestly a little disappointed, I don't know if it is due to expecting to much of a mistake on my part but the flavour seems very "muted". Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
| Mother's Unicorn Milk | | |-----------------------------------------------------|-------------| | Target Nicotine Level (mg) | 3,0 | | Ingredient | Resulting % | | PG | 6,67 | | VG | 65,0 | | Nicotine (Prime Nic) | 8,33 | | Strawberry (Ripe) (The Flavor Apprentice) | 8,0 | | Cheesecake (Graham Crust) (The Flavor Apprentice) | 4,0 | | Sweet Cream (Capella) | 3,0 | | Bavarian Cream (DX) (The Flavor Apprentice) | 3,0 | | Vanilla Swirl (The Flavor Apprentice) | 2,0 |
DX Bavarian Cream needs a loooooooooooooooong steep.
Don't know if that's the problem though. Does the original recipe call for DX?
Also a loooooooooooooooong steep will mute Strawberry (Ripe) a bit. The rest of the percentages seem about right. Normally when someone will post a recipe they will omit the PG,VG, & Nic, but including them is fine.
Welcome to the community!
I'm sorry actually just copied the recipe from my spreadsheet and pasted is. You are right the original did call for normal Bavarian cream but part of the reason I started DIY mixing is to have control over what goes into my e-liquid and the original Bavarian cream contains some nastiest. I will let it steep a further week and report back :) Thanks for the advice
All good, If you're avoiding Diketones you may have to get a little more crafty. Bavarian Cream DX is fairly garbage.
Something like French Vanilla V2 is godly.......Bavarian cream is like a maple-ly, thick, brown sugar-y cream. So...I'm not sure of any non-diketone replacements, maybe that's where you get to be creative!
But seriously I'm not anti-anti-diketones, but at the sametime I loooove me some diketones!
BUUUUT SERIOUSLY Bavarian Cream DX is really bad. REAAAAALLLY bad. You might start looking for a substitute.
An odd thing happens when high concentrations of flavors are used. I suggest lowering all flavor percentages by 1 and see if anything changes. You might be just overloading your palate.
Also, another option is to try lowering your total VG. SOme mixes I prefer to go as low as 50/50. It seems I can taste the components more, especially using my on-the-go tank.
So ive been wondering.... do certain flavors almost require different vg/pg ratios or is it all personal preference? I would imagine subtler flavors would be better in like a 60/40 mix and really strong flavors would need a bit more vg to soften the taste and throat hit?
I typically like to add the same amount of PG as I do overall Flavoring, with some exceptions of course. I think once everything is steeped the flavor will be (virtually) the same no matter the ratio. If there is any difference it is probably pretty minute.
Anybody using HiLiq nicotine?
how do u find it?
is it worth getting?
I have some I got at a convention that I still need to test. They also make a synthetic (Non-Tobacco Nicotine) that I have to try out that has peaked my interest, but I have been enjoying the CXT nic I got to try out so I haven't gotten around to testing other nics.
I want to add some strawberry to the monster melon clone I've been using. It calls for 5% each of cantaloupe, mango and papya. All TFA flavors. I have strawberry and strawberry ripe TFA. What percentage should I add and which one should I use?
This is part of what makes DIY fun. You can customize juice to your liking. Try adding both to see which you like best.
I know it is but I'm a tight wad and hate waste. I just wanted to make it taste better. Not that it isn't good as is. It's just lacking something........like strawberry!
TFA Strawberry and Strawberry(ripe) make an amazingly sweet strawberry. usually people use it 1/1 I would add it at 2% each into the Monster Melon clone to give you that nice sweet strawberry. <3
What flavors can I use to mute the lemon pledge in TFA Fruit circles?
- Ethyl Maltol can be used to round off harshness.
- Time steeping can help let fruity-ness or harsh highpitched flavorings fade.
- Let the cap off, the top end of the entire recipe will fade or mute.
- I could see TFA Strawberry (Ripe) or TFA Dragonfruit covering up or at least go with lemony-ness.
- BONUS WEIRD ONE: Maybe add an assload of standalone lemon? I've always wondered if that would work, I've never experimented though. This idea will not work with the other ideas.
New mixer here!
I have some questions and i hope someone has the patience to look and answer.
-
Is there such a thing as cold steeping? Like instead of the usual cool dark place, juice will be placed in a fridge or freezer?
-
Follow up to question 1, what is the ideal temperature for steeping?
-
I mix mine in batches (10 in one sitting, different flavors) best yet practical way to taste it? Practical without wasting so much cotton.
-
Measurement, is it really 20 drops to 1ml? Thing is, the calculator (vape tool) and even google says 140 drops is equal to 7ml. When i follow the drop method it only reaches half of my 10ml bottle but when i use a syringe it go beyond half.
-
Best way to store raw materials.
Thanks in advance experts!!!
1 - No, that just slows/halts the steeping process
2 - Room temperature
3 - An RDA is essential. Use a very small wick in a regular coil, or a wickless build with enough metal to soak up the juice, such as +6 wraps of clapton wire (at the minimum)
4 - The size of drops vary greatly depending on the tip, usually between 0.02 ml to 0.03 ml but the deviation can be even greater. Measure by weight using a scale to be accurate, or at the very least a syringe.
5 - Keep them away from heat and light, with caps screwed on tight. Glass is best but cumbersome.
I have to much of a throat hit I have 40vg 60pg 0nic and I vape at 80w please help me get rid of the throat hit but still keep the Same great flavour and stay at 80w
Here are some factors that add throat hit in no particular order:
-
PG: Lower the PG relative to VG
-
Watts: Lower the watts (I know you want to stay at 80w but it's a big factor)
-
Flavors: Certain flavorings have much harsher throat hits than others. You might want to try another juice to see if that's a factor
70vg/30pg is my go to, smooth but good flavor.
80watts is fine depending your build. Honestly 80watts doesn't really mean anything. It wouldn't even mean anything if you gave us your ohms or your coils, because the airflow is important too. A picture of your setup would be very telling.
A recipe of what you're vaping would also be helpful.
So you help us out with a little more information and we can probably help you out!
Yeah, at least go 50/50 vg pg, or 60/40 vg pg. Will help.
This assumes your Nic is ok, so try making some with no Nic.
They don't use nic
My phone doesn't have a working camera but I have coolfire Iv tc100w with a Kennedy 24. in my rda I have 2 twisted Clapton coils ending up to be about 0.45 ohms I have 0 Nic juice and 40vg 60pg juice it is a store brought and I vape at about 80w but when I lower the watts it doesn't feel right because I love the sweet flavour the flavour of the juice is a fruit mix it is very sweet if you need anymore information about helping me feel free to ask
Hi everyone!
I'm just getting into vaping, and have been wanting to try mixing up some juice. I've read a few guides and I think I have a handle on what I need to get started.
I'd like to try to recreate one of my favorite flavors, Magnum Opus by The Philosophers Stone. Of course I couldn't find a diy recipe for that exact flavor, but I did find a different clone from the same line. Metamorphosis. So I figure that's a good place to start.
Here's the recipe I'm working off
http://e-liquid-recipes.com/recipe/925555/Philosophers%20Stone%20Metamorphosis%20clone%20V2.2.2
The question I have is this: near the bottom it has a note that says to add peach and apricot in drops per 15/ml of juice made. But it didn't list the specific peach or apricot flavor to use.
I know different vendors flavors are wildly divergent. Is this a note I can ignore or are notes like this common?
I'm wondering if any of you experienced DIY juicers can help me decipher this. My current plan is to mix the recipe up both with and without the extra fruit flavors and see what's better.
Just got all the equipment needed for my diy project, can i run any flavors at 50/50?
Like 50/50 end ratio for your mix?
If so then yes.
i always use 50/50 juice. So if i add the flavoring, do i still do 50/50 or so i cut the percentage off the amount of flavoring
The VG that we just got in has a blue hue to it. Any idea what is going on with that?
Pics?

Here you go. Check out the recipes underneath that list.
I was just wondering why you named that recipe Custody, even went as far as going back and reading the original recipe post, took me way too long to figure out how similar the words Custody and Custard happen to be. I'm scrolling through my list of excuses...long day, didn't sleep well last night, etc etc and none of them are quite covering it. It might be time to accept that I'm just plain not very smart.
Lol it's just a stupid name. You know how we all either name recipes like what they actually are (strawberry kiwi, etc.) or some random names? I was just thinking one day that I wanted to give my recipes names that followed a theme. Well, I think I was thinking of things that had to do with illegal activities like making moonshine and what not. I then thought that moonshiners often get caught and get arrested so I thought that Custody sounded good and similar to custard. When I first made that recipe, it was all that I wanted to vape so it kind of had me in handcuffs. Basically, I'm dumb and we should make weird names for our recipes from now on lol.
Hi! I'm constantly running in one interesting issue. Sometimes, when I mix a juice, and try it without firing a mod (u know, take a hit without pressing fire button (my English is a shit, trying to explain as good as I can)) - I get nice, rich flavor. But as soon as I press fire button - flavor is gone. Why does it happen? I rarely go more than 1-2% of flavors, so it's not likely that it's overloaded. Coil is dual 2.5mm 0.5 nichrome, 12 wraps on 80-90 watts. Suprisingly, it works very well with some recipes of mine. Any suggestions?
If you aren't firing the mod, you shouldn't be getting a hit at all
Ok, I failed explaining lol. Let's try this - I pull the air, just like when I vape, but I don't actually fire the mod.
I'm looking to order my second batch of nicotine. My first order was 48mg/ml from wizard labs. I split it into 30mL amber bottles and froze all but the bottle I used. I felt my juices were harsh, and am blaming it on the nic, since my nicless samples went harsh at all.
Next order will be 500mL of 100mg/ml from Carolina Xtracts. I'd like to dilute this down to 50mg/mL liquid in 30mL bottles. I will be buying PG based, and will dilute in PG. I am looking for a quick calculator to tell me how to do this by weight accurately. Is there one? I didn't find one by searching, or looking at side bar.
Is this the right way to go about this? Easier to achieve same result a different way? Any help or tips would be appreciated.
Simply add 500ml of PG, done. You'll have 1000ml of 50mg/ml.
But I question whether this is needed. The 100mg/ml in my freezer is fine, even ~17 months old. Starting with good quality nic is the key to long storage, looks like you are doing that with CX.
I vape at 1.5mg, so I figured 100mg ml might be too strong to use as a base. Am I wrong in that? If it doesn't matter much, I guess I don't need to dilute it.
You should be using a mixing calculator. If you use the correct quantity it doesn't matter. You are diluting it into your mix. 6 mg, 48 mg, 100 mg, it doesn't matter. It doesn't get "stronger" because you are just using whatever amount you need to in order to get to the desired level of nicotine
So I ordered a 120ml of 100mg nic in Vg from nicotine river and it was degraded from opening. I emailed them about it and they sent me a new one no questions asked but the second one is also degraded. Haven't tested it in juice but it smells awful and is pretty yellow. I emailed them again about it but I don't know if I even want another bottle from them. They have good customer service but the product for me so far has been bad. Should I just cut my losses and get CXT?
It should definitely be clear but having a yellow tint doesn't necessarily mean it will impart anything negative to a mix. Try making a small unflavored bottle at whatever strength you normally vape and if it tastes bad, ask NR for a refund or credit to order more flavors.
Ok should I let it sit or just shake n vape it to test the nic
Can you steep a juice for too long?
I don't think so. Unless you steep it for years and it all goes bad.
A company recently sold a Christmas juice that they forgot about in the steeping cupboard. It was in there for a full year and apparently was amazing. Generally the longer the steep the better (somz flavours will disappear though), just do t let your stuff expire.
Yeah, I guess I was originally thinking that I didn't want to over steep my fruit juices. But then I saw some companies bragging about month long steeps and wondered if there was a limit. I do realize that expiration is not the goal however.
Nicotine goes peppery.
after how long?
Depends on how you store it, how much light gets to it, how much oxygen gets to it, how much heat gets to it. The quality of the nicotine is probably the biggest factor though. However the condition is of the nicotine when its originally put in the juice will usually decide how peppery it will later on.
SO, don't cheap out on your nicotine!
Firstly I live in Australia so it is kind off hard to get good products in because of shipping cost and the fact that some online company's don't ship to Australia as they are fully American own company's
I have gotten to the point that I only vape for the hobby as I have put up my life long smoking habit so my juice has absolutely no nicotine in it and I like it that way. It has taken me a while to get used to having no nicotine in my juice.
So that makes it a bit easier for me, as In I don't have to buy any nicotine for my juice that I am pursuing to start making "just for my personal use" and all I have to worry about buying are bottles, syringes, pg, vg and flavour concentrates well at least I think that is all I need if I need more please feel free to share it and also if you are feeling really kind please also leave a link and or give me some good fruity flavours recipes to start of with and it some good techniques for me to enjoy this part of vaping that I still haven't ventured into yet
Thanks everyone in advanced and I hope I enjoy this part of vaping
Lewiz
Since you are just starting and out and basically have zero information on the hobby right now, I recommend that you read the sidebar. There is lots of excellent information to get you started on the path. You'll want to mix by weight so instead of syringes, you'll want a scale that measures down to .01 grams and some plastic pipettes.
How do I access the side bar on mobile?
I wanted to ask if this is possible.
I have bought 10ML ejuice 0 nicotine ( made by eHale ) but is it possible that i can mix it with my 30/70 6mg premade base ?
So I'm new at this. Brand new. I am starting my first batch can someone explain how to read these recipes to make these wonderful flavors I am reading about. I'm seeing percentages and don't know how to turn that into a unit of measurement.
https://www.reddit.com/r/bsavage/comments/5gx8q6/diy_eliquid_part_3/
either a calculator or that guide can show you the maths
Is this for only 50/50? Is there a different method for 80/20?
still same formulas and concept. if your nic and flavors are in pg then calculate what percent of your recipe is pg based then subtract flavors/nic and fill in the rest.
6ml of PG and 24ml of VG will make 30ml of 80/20. so if you have ( example)3g's of flavor and nic add 3ml of pg and 24ml vg
50/50 is just my preference and easy to work with on paper as an example
ive over tightened my flava concentrate bottles cracking the inside lid,now the lids dont close so tight,is there a chance this will ruin the flavour
Hi all. I am brand new to DIY and I just spent about 700$ on PG/VG/NIC/Flavors
I'm having a huge issue with NIC giving throat hit and a peppery taste.
I've tried these 2 nics in 3mg juices Nude nicotine "smooth" 100mg in PG (3ml per 100ml) Vaperstek 100mg in VG (0.3ml per 10ml)
I've mixed sweet cap mango / tfa mango / cap golden pineapple / tfa DX marshmallow / cotton candy TFA / juicy peach etc etc (all fruits) and I've came up with some REALLY good recipes ranging from 10% flavor to 25% flavor.
Ranging 70/30mix to 80/20 mix
Most of the juices I've made tasted great before adding the nicotine and mixing. As soon as I add the nicotine it's game over flavor and hello pepper and throat hit.
The nude nicotine seems to kill the flavor more than the vaperstek. But with either vaperstek or nude nicotine it's not something I like at all. I can make a comparison saying that my 3mg juices have the throat hit of a per say 12mg ruthless juice which is high. I like pure fruit / sweet flavored juices with zero throat hit. For example ruthless grape drank. NKTR mango. Mech sauce grape. Drip ade mango peach. All of which in 3mg give me zero throat hit and zero pepper taste. I can't seem to match anything in terms of being smooth / no th / no pepper taste when using the NIC.
I've followed a lot of you on Reddit for about a month prior to ordering everything I have now. NN and VT seem to be the best vendors for NIC. I ordered from 2 companies just in case and neither companies NIC works!!!
PLEASE help!
Do you shake the nic thoroughly before dispensing?
Yup. 30 second shake with all nic / flavors :(
Hmm if you're sure you're measuring correctly, it can't really be anything other than poor nic. You could lower the wattage, reduce the amount of flavoring or drop the nic drastically, but the only real solution would be to order a sample from CXTC.

Have you tested the nic to make sure it's actually 100mg? And did you shake it thoroughly before mixing? I can't really think of anything else that could cause that, the nic obviously isn't old so it shouldn't be oxidised, especially considering NN mix it to order.
Yea I was going to say: I think /u/captaincannibal got some nude Nic at double strength I can't find out who it was im on my phone right meow.
Also what do your recipes look like exactly and how long are you aging your mixes before adding nicotine.
I saw 10-25% and that could be good day one and become well.... Odd over a couple days or week.
Definitely try a Carolina extract sample if you can. Try to test your nic strength. Post up some recipes or cut your nic strength or recipes in half
Everytime I tried to respond to you at 5am my keyboard's switches kept waking up my girlfriend.'
Are you using vanilla bean ice cream flavor at all
It could be your nicotine though
So this isn't really related to mixing but is it possible to have more than two stickied posts up at once? I noticed the monthly recipe thread gets buried once it's unstickied and it can be annoying to find.
Don't think so but look at the very top of the page.
I can only see the best recipe of 2016 and the new mixers thread up the top, I found it after doing a quick search though. Cheers mate.
Hi.
Brand new to this sub reddit and brand new to DIY mixing. I read a bunch here on reddit, watched a bunch of youtube videos, subscribed here and at e-liquid recipe. Just ordered scale, nic, flavors and glass bottles and all should be delivered within the next few days and I'll be ready to start. Here's my question - I vape custards probably 70% of the time (gremlins VC and Vapetasia killer custard are my go custards) with desserts taking up the rest. I'd like to branch out a bit and add a few fruit flavors to my custards or perhaps something all together different with maybe a light hint (keyword is "hint") of menthol. Here's my problem - of all the strawberry/raspberry etc custards that I purchased ALL were too fruit heavy. I like custard with a hint of fruit rather than fruit with some custard in it. Same with the menthol juices - they seem heavy on the menthol for what I'd like. In going over some recipes they all seem to have a high percentage of fruit. I'm not quite ready to start making substitutions or altering recipes just yet. Any ideas on how I should proceed to get flavors that would work for me.
That's the beauty of the sport, you can tune the flavor exactly to your liking. Don't be afraid to tinker or tweak just because you're new, that's how you learn.
CAP Vanilla Custard V1 is a popular custard and is easily combined with for example TFA Strawberry Ripe. A simple recipe with custard as the top note might look something like this:
- 4% CAP Vanilla Custard
- 1% TFA Strawberry Ripe
Too much strawberry? Try half a percent. Not enough custard? Bump it up a bit.
Thanks. I do have CAP vanilla custard V1 on it's way to me and that's the first flavor I plan on using (given my taste for custards I probably should have opted for the 4 oz bottle rather than the 15ml starter). Just to be clear most of the recipes I've looked at seem to have flavor components at about 15-20%. Will my juice "taste weak" with only 5% flavor? Is there a minimum flavor percentage I need to start with? Also I tend to prefer 70/30 or 80/20 blends. many of my favorite juices were 50/50 blends and I'm so done with 50/50 blends - one of the reasons I want to DIY - to get the percentages that work for me. I notice some of the older recipes are 50/50 or 60/40 blends. any adjustments I need to make if I want to go to 70/30 or 80/20?
If you know you'll love a flavoring, you can get a bigger bottle, but it's never a bad idea to try a smaller sample first to be sure. There are plenty of other custards out there and you might prefer some other one. CAP VC1 is a safe bet though.
It's not uncommon for a recipe to use a total of 15-20% flavoring, but that's with several components. If you tried to use a single flavoring that high, it would likely taste bad and you'd quickly dull your senses to the point where you couldn't taste it at all.
All concentrates vary in strength, you can check out the average use at ATF and ELR to get an idea of how strong it is.
There's no adjustment needed between 50/50 and 80/20, the latter may just take a little extra time to steep.
So heres a question for all you plastic experts out there. Recently, Wizard labs has joined Nicotine river and other vendors in shipping their concentrates with these twist caps for (I assume) easy weight mixing. Link below for pic.
https://www.nicotineriver.com/products/twist-tops
My question is, Is this safe to leave on the concentrate bottle? I don't want my concentrate getting killed by air or whatever. I have seen air go through the moment I untwist it to release the liquid so does that mean its air-tight?
TBD Liquids uses those tops for their 120 ml bottles of juice. I've been using the tops on the 120's I buy, and when the top is screwed down completely I've never gotten any leaking of juice from the bottles. Don't know if this helps in answering your question, but that's been my experience with that style cap.
Hey everyone, quick question:
What sweetener/flavor creates a feeling in the mouth as if you had just sucked on some hard candy? tastes and sorta feels like your mouth is filled with simple syrup and it lingers for a bit. had this with a liquid I won from a giveaway and as a big sugar addict it was the first time in memory I had no desire for anything else sweet and want to replicate that badly.
im guessing its sucralose, but I want to be sure before wasting money to try it out. if it is or whatever it ends up being, how should I use it to get that seem taste and feeling while vaping? I know sweeteners mute flavors but im fine with giving up complexity to help kick sugar
I'm thinking it's sucralose also, it's known for creating "sugar lips" and can create that thicker syrupy mouth sensation. Some people like higher percentages and some lower. The best thing to do is start with maybe 1% and raise it a little at a time until you get it where you like it. And do that for each individual recipe you make as you will probably like different percentages in each. I don't use it much, but when I do I actually start at .25%. But if you are used to store made juice, they usually contain a lot so you might end up at 3-4% before you like it best. Just remember you can always add more, but you can't take it away :)
Looking to make a flavor close to a juice I bought early on. It was Cathedral by Redwood Vape. Its a Cucumber strawberry flavor. I have made several batches of different juice, but nothing has really stood out for me. Not sure if i get the percentages right at all. Here is the recipe I'm working with right now.
CAP - Cucumber 3%
FA - Red Touch Strawberry 3%
TPA - Hibiscus 2.5%
TPA - Dragon fruit 2%
Im not married to the Dragonfruit, and maybe im doing to much to add to the flavor. Any thoughts on this?
I don't have any personal experience with Red Touch. Can you taste the strawberry? If not you may want to try a different brand. Or add some JF Sweet Strawberry to your recipe. What purpose does the Hibiscus and Dragonfruit serve in the recipe? If you are just looking for Cucumber Strawberry you should just leave them out. If you are using Dragonfruit to boost the Strawberry, only use about 0.75 - 1.0 %
I'm not to sure. The description of the flavor had hibiscus, I figured it would give it some undertone flavoring. I ended up making it, and tried it as a shake and vape. It came out pretty good. I have some tfa strawberry ripe that I might try next time and leave out the dragonfruit . I'm gonna give it a week and try it out again. But so far it's good. I think next time I'll leave out the dragon fruit too. Gonna work on this flavor a bit.
Edit- this is the first recipe I have made with a new batch of flavors I bought. So the red touch is new to me, along with the cucumber.
Here is the final recipe I made.

Hi guys, First post (please be gentle) :) Been looking to get some nicotine for my DIY, been making mine at 0mg up until now.
I was going to get 100ml PG based from Lubrisolve, as I've seen a lot of people using this site for PG/VG:
http://www.lubrisolve.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=27&product_id=71
I found a great deal for 1 litre at Chef Vapour for the following:
https://www.chefsvapour.co.uk/diy-supplies/4489-sasami-1-litre-nicotine-base-075mg-.html
I know that the norm is 72mg nicotine, would I be getting the same in the deal from Chef's Vapour?
1 litre for that price seems too good to be true! Thanks for any help you guys can give. :)
There really isn't a norm per say for nicotine. Although if there was, it should be 100 mg/ml. You save more money and you will have more of it with larger concentrations. I would say anything over 48 is wise. If I'm not mistaken Chef's Vapour is one of the go-to vendors for DIY in the UK
Thanks Edible. :) It being 0.75 from Chef's Vapour, would it not be really weak? I'm not sure if they mean it's 75mg in that case, comparing to your 48mg, that's the main thing I'm confused about!
UltraSonic Steeping
-
I am not sure if the USC available here in our country has a heat function. So my question is, it really required/needed?
-
A week of normal steeping is equivalent to how many minutes of USC steeping?
-
How different is the taste vs the normal?
Would it be worth my time using a volumetric flask to make x ml batches. f.e. 25ml, 50ml, 75ml, 100ml???
What is the concentration of the sucralose liquid sweetener in g sucralose per mL on ecigexpress? Wanted to mix the powder form in either vg or pg to save some money. Is that okay to do, or is the purity of powdered sucralose too low?
Can't speak for sucralose specifically or what's on ECX, but generally powder is the concentrated form and you save a ton of money making your own concentrate from it. And you don't have to worry about what else might be in it.
CAP Super Sweet is 20% Sucralose, TFA Sweetener is 5% Sucralose and 5% Maltol. As you can see, "sweet" is relative and you don't need to be that precise. Try 1 gram of the powder to 9 ml of PG in a 10 ml bottle for a roughly 10% dilution. Use PG as VG is a terrible solvent. The crystals will dissolve in a day or two if you shake it now and then. If you want to use it right away you'll need to apply a bit of heat and agitation, but not too much. Then try using it at 1% and go from there.
If someone has done this with sucralose or know what's on ECX, please chime in.
