Hi. I just tried to blend a tropical fruit mix with tobacco. I used Desert Ship by flavourarts. It turned out a little too sour so I skipped it. This recipe will become a herbal-fruit mix. However, I am now working on a dark natural tobacco recipe. Maybe with some fruit like Blackberry. To separate sweeter fruit and tobacco for a while.
I have tried different companies but I really like Flavourart. I can also easily get that, and I want to develop something easier for others to also mix. I searched the forum but can't find some newer thread on just Flavourart.
What is your favorite Flavourart tobacco? Not bitter, not ashy, spicy or sour. Just like tobacco leafs without being cigar.

OP, that's kind of a tough one.. I don't reach for FA tobacco much, especially when I want a flavoring that actually tastes like tobacco. There are better brands out there for that purpose.
Not the exact answer you're looking for but if you want leafy tobacco flavor, try INW Garuda. That is the go to for leafyness. If you're willing to brach out away from FA, I may be able to be of more use and offer up some other suggestions. Lmk.
I started working on an intro to tobacco article before the holidays, it's pretty thorough but needs to be touched up still. Maybe it will be of help to you. Still not that much FA listed on there unfortunately.

Hi T_mace I really like FA yes, but I'm of course open to try new flavors. I actually tried some local here in Europe but some are too much perfume-like. Others are good and aromatic. But not really dark and full. Maybe I just get all FA tobaccos and mix singles, steep for a week and try. Taste is personal but still maybe new perspectives can find new blends? Never try but will see if they have INW at my local shop. They have TFA, but no tobaccos more sweeteners. I hope more tobacco explorations will come up this year. Not the NET stuff for me, but mixes that make something else. Great article!
Inawera is a Polish brand. Should be easy to order from them and shipping should be relatively reasonable. Ultimately, you're right, you pretty much have to try everything first hand to know if you like it. Reading reviews helps, especially if you know the reviewer's taste preferences. For instance, Kinnikinnick and I have a similar palate in terms of what we like, so I always look for his reviews on ELR cuz chances are if he likes it, I'll probably like it too.
If you can find Flavorah tobaccos in Europe, give Native or Kentucky a try. Otherwise, start working your way through Inawera once you finish with FA.

I have a goal for these recipes, light wet mixes of fruit and herb, others darker and natural tobacco. But a lot of work to do.
For FA I really like SOHO, Shade, and 7 Leaves. That being said, I've found Hangsen tobacco flavors to be superior most times, and with a wider variety.

I've found that I enjoy INW S'Desert Ship more than FA. It's not quite as strong. The only fruity flavor I've ever made was with INW Peach and the Desert Ship, and it turned out pretty nice. FA 7 Leaves Ultimate I don't really think is a dark tobacco. I haven't played with it too much, but I made a decent cigarette flavor with it kind of by accident. FA Burley I was getting a bit of a woodsy taste from. There was something about it that made me think of summer, but I couldn't quite put my finger on exactly what it was. I've got FA Latakia steeping for a full review right now, but I've always used it with FA Black Fire as kind of a super duo to add a little bite and Fire to a mix. Out front, I'm not sure how it would do.
Other than that, I'd probably try more INW tobaccos. Dark for Pipe is nice and dark, and for about a week my ADV has been a mix of that with a smoked plum flavor.
Wow, thanks for sharing this. Had no idea others had a "Desert ship". Now I hear that it can take about 1-2 weeks to steep! For that more sour to go away. Maybe I should just give it more time. Sometimes one can't let go of a interesting flavor to early. Black Fire and Latakia together sounds interesting! Looking forward to the review. Just of the bat I was thinking Desert Ship together with Latakia to add some depth and darker note to it. Have you tried Virginia by FA?
How much of the FA Desert Ship are you using? That was a flavor that I really wanted to like because I thought it smelled so good, but the taste was always too strong. And I don't think I ever went above 2%. The Peach tobacco mix I made with the INW Desert Ship had 4% and 1.5% peach, and the peach was still up front. I've got a got a single flavor mix of S'Desert steeping as well for a review, and my 3 week taste test was pretty good. Picked up maybe some clove and other spices. Wasn't too dry. I'll probably have to get through the 10 ml to be able to try to pick out as much as I can.

flavour art is great for fruit but, my FA tobaco experience hasnt been as good as my INW experience
Inawera Garuda is just a light tobacco leaf flavor.
What percent are you using the Desert Ship at?
Desert Ship was good, just not what I was looking for. I think you are on the right track with blackberry possibly. I dont remember it being sour but that was a while ago 0.5-2% maybe 3 seemed like it was enough back then for an RDA

Thanks man! Yes agree, I used it with tropicals maybe that was what made it so sour. I love sour candy tho, but not sour vapes. hehe. I vaping a two week 2.5% now and much better. Single. Tobcco flavor seem sensitive when mixed with fruits. I try now to make it simple and separate tobaccos from fruit. Yes Blackberry is more "darker" and fits many tobaccos.
Not what I was looking for with my recipe profile, but Desert Ship will make sour in fruit mixes. If somebody like that. If you can make some of the ashy-ness steep away or fade with sweetener, it will stay sour lol. Especially with Lemon Sicily and Jasmine. Still sour after a week steep. "Tobacco taste" exchanged with sour when pared with other FA fruits.
It's strange to me that Desert Ship tastes sour to you.
I may have missed it, but what percentage are you using it at?
I find that 1.25% is plenty bold for a single flavor mix.
Try dropping it down in your mix and see the results.
I have a Chai tea recipe that I'm working on that uses Desert Ship.
I can say FA 7 leaves is pretty light. I personally have skipped over most of the other FA flavors due to reports of them being too sweet or too light or floral. That being said, INW has a "for pipe" line of flavors that is absolutely terrific. INW Gold Ducat is pretty good too. If you're looking to dive into tobaccos, INW can't be beat IMO.
Inawera's "For Pipe" line is phenomenal. Dark For Pipe is probably the most popular of the bunch, and for good reason. It is a rich, faintly smoky Pipe tobacco with some dried plum on the exhale. It's great on its own at 3% and mixes well with chocolate and dark fruits.
This recipe (http://tjek.nu/r/42rX) is my favourite. Bright, lightly and smoky sweet with smooth tart plum edginess and spicy notes. All of this without losing and perfectly complimenting the tobaccos, which are always at the core of the taste. It uses FA Tobaccos.
Dark Vapure , start low (1%)
If you want the TFA equivalent its DK - they aren't interchangeable but close.

I never yse it as a stand alone but its often in my english style "smokier" mixes to give some grounding to the sort of spicy / campfire smokiness of latakia

Interesting, thanks. I guess that this aromas is exactly what make a tobacco flavor fuller. Just the right amount before it becomes to "choco like" or "latte". Great info. Doing this testing make me want to explore more tobaccos over fruits. Or find balances in between them. RDA perfect balanced build subohm with dark, full and leafy tobacco at max 9% aroma, higher VG. wow (I never vape creamy or cookie-cake aromas, sweetner or too colored) IMO It's personal. ;)
Update: Mixed Desert Ship with 80% VG, two week steep and it is much more natural tobacco. Spicy and not sour! Have no idea how this happened. 1-1.6% Now I vape on dual coil 0.47 ohm 26 k on 3mm. (44 watt 4.5 volt) It's just perfect, but lack some darker notes that can be mixed in. Makes me think that this sourness went away with the VG? I also used 4 nic instead of 2 nic. No words. Inspiering to keep trying a flavor and note down whats going on. This also depends on perfect builds and the right temperature. *that feeling when a mix and build just comes together.
