TFA Honey
submitted over 8 years ago by wh1skeyk1ngThanks for reading this flair

A little bit of backstory before we begin. I bought this flavor out of sheer curiosity, thinking it can't be that bad. Let me tell you something, how this flavor ever hit the market is beyond me. Maybe it's a bad joke by TFA, or maybe it only works in a 10% dilution and 1 drop per 100 mL or something, but I'm not going to f around with all that. I'm here to talk about this flavor at 3% without a dare, a free t-shirt, or a even a free spot on the DoD top 10 list.

Setup: Velocity clone; dual twisted 24awg Ni/28awg kanthal @ .27Ω; cotton wicks; 50 W

Testing: The Flavor Apprentice Honey @ 3%; Aged: 15 days

Flavor description: Dirty and burnt tasting, in the worst possible way something could be dirty, like burnt dirt. Burnt rubber, like someone just did a burnout in my kitchen. Melted plastic fumes that aren't safe to inhale. Cardboard that your shitty nephew put in the toaster, started on fire, and sprayed with water to put the fire out, tripping the GFCI that was placed there by an electrician, who was mandated to do so by the government's electrical code because they know people tend to do stupid shit like that. It also contains 0% of anything resembling honey at 3% in a 70/30 mix with 3mg/mL nic... Maybe my nic is bad? :S

Off-flavors: See above.

Throat hit: 2/10 pretty mellow on the throat, but I give it 10/10 in the nostrils after the exhale.

Uses: I mixed it with some SC Red Apple and it tastes exactly like the description above with a hint of apple. Even with TFA Absinthe, I get slight black licorice behind a wall of burnt dirtiness. Is that my supper burning? Haven't even started it yet, never mind. This flavoring makes a great gift to someone who has 200+ flavors, but not this one. A completed collection if you will. I'm sure this could have many other uses, but in your ejuice probably isn't one of them.

Pairings: It pairs great with other random flavors I have, but can't really classify into their own bag. The trash can might not be a bad place for this one, unless you know voodoo and can post a winner in the monthly thread sometime in the next year. I plan on keeping this around for something, but I'm not sure what for quite yet. I'm open to suggestions though.

Notes: I want to note that I had this steeping before I even saw skiddz' spectacular vertical YouTube video. It makes the review a bit more relevant given this little piece of DIY history.

Please take this review as somewhat of a suggestion as to where to spend your next $2. If you've been in DIY for a while and you can honestly say you've spent money on stupider shit, buy it and try it for fun. If you're new to DIY, or even if you're not new but pretty happy with your experience so far, maybe skip this one.

Bonus video of /u/skiddlzninja trying it out. "It tastes like living in Ohio."

Side note: If you're truly after a honey flavor, I hear FA makes a far more realistic one.

This review went how I expected it to when I saw the title. I don't think I'm going to ever be able to find a use for this, nor will I probably buy it. Could probably be made into the vape equivalent to the cinnamon challenge though.

Came for the dumpster fire, was not disapponted.

TPA Honey exists as an urban legend. A DIY mixer's cautionary tale. Thanks for securing that legend.

What does a drop on your hand taste like? I was thinking maybe this is really just meant for making candy n shit. Or just shit, I dunno. Either way, this was entertaining.

It more or less burns my taste buds and I don't really taste anything specific, as most concentrates tend to do when I taste them. However, LA Watermelon is one that is amazing on the tongue.

TFA exists for flavor and perfume first and foremost. Always has, always will. We just happen to use them for vapor products. This horse is so beat it's puree.

I use FLV Honey Bee at .25 to .50% for a strong, slightly floral honey flavor.

Can you comment on whether honey bee tastes like clover honey or wildflower honey? Right now I use FA Honey, which is definitely a wildflower honey, but I'd really like a clover honey flavor.

For me at least, honey bee is even funkier than an average wildflower honey. Almost crosses into something like buckwheat honey. I personally love the stuff, but it probably isn't what you're looking for if you want like a squeeze bear kind of honey.

You don't know me!!.... I do have a squeeze bear of honey in my cupboard...

Sorry, I'm not familiar with honey to that detail. Seems I have more to learn.

So, not bad then?

I would be lying if I said that. The smell alone is wretched, and probably translates a lot into what is tasted when vaped.

Um, guess I should have used /s

I get your reference. I've been told I come across as rather serious when it comes to typing sometimes. My bad, lol.

i have a 10mL of 10% dilution that's been steeping for four months now. it's triple bagged, along with the concentrate itself. i can't bring myself to even take it out to get a better whiff.

I actually made a really good straight honey flavor once with tfa honey, I was trying to make apple pie and added 1 drop of tfa honey and it absolutely overpowered the entire thing, let it sit for a bit and it was one of the best juices I've ever had. That being said I tried to make it again a couple weeks ago and it tasted like dirty dishwater.

> and it tasted like dirty dishwa

sooo funny you mentioned that! I actually thought I had under powered one of my honey tests and let it sit for a month. Tried it LAST NIGHT and it tasted EXACTLY like that, dirty dishwater.

Capella honey is wonderful. Use at 1% or so. Full bodied honey, nicely sweet.

Thank You for your review. Sounds like I would end up mixing it with a quart of water then pour it down a fire ant mound and watch what happens to the ants to put it to "good use".

You left out the part where man tears streamed down your face as that exhale of vapor began to grace your pallet. Even diluted @ 10% it's just

Okay, this is most likely a shit thought.. And laugh or call me names if you like, but.. Has anyone tried using this flavor at a very high percentage like say 20% plus? Maybe at that point it mutes itself out and becomes something entirely different?

" in the worst possible way something could be ..."

Burnt indian food made a poo baby with bigfoots dick and then we nade it into a candle?

I keep using this at low % hoping for a breakthrough but so far no dice

Very odd. I usually mix 5% TFA honey at max VG and it tastes like honey, even after 6wks in a drawer. However the last batch of TFA honey I got from Wizard labs tastes like crap. 5mg nic, 0.5ohm single coil at 30w, Magma RDA's
