Hello all:) Not sure if this is appropriate to post here, but I only saw clone recipe requests in the sidebar. I'd love some help creating a Strawberry Cream Soda type flavor. Not a strawberries and cream soda, but, like cream soda with strawberry. Seems simple, but I just cant seem to nail it :/ I've tried these combinations:
Cream Soda (TFA) 3% Strawberry (TFA) 1% Strawberry Ripe (TFA) 1%
and
Cream Soda (TFA) 3% Strawberry (TFA) 1% Strawberry Ripe (TFA) 1% Sweet Cream (TFA) .5%
I'm thinking maybe more of a vanilla added, not really a sweet cream (It's all I had at the moment) or maybe I'm missing something else? I'm pretty new to DIY'ing, so any pointers would be highly appreciated.
Thanks guys :D
For the cream soda, I shit you not, try using FLV Vanilla Custard -- it is bang-on a cream soda flavor.
Yes! At like 2-4% I get the same thing. Higher and it gets a little more like vanilla pudding. I've never thought to use it in a root beer float recipe but I'm gonna give it a whirl sometime
Instead of TFA cream soda? I use vanilla custard in a lot of my ADVs, but I dont really get any cream soda hints.
You specifically use Flavorah's Vanilla Custard?
No, sorry, should have clarified. Also, should not be on Reddit while drinking a few beers... xD
I use CAP Vanilla Custard... and now my sober mind is kicking itself for not reading the FLV Vanilla Custard...
Thank you for the tip, though! I will definitely try it. Even if it's not quite the Cream Soda type I'm looking for, I love Vanilla Custard!
<3 :D
I haven't messed with the TFA Cream Soda yet, can you give me some notes on that one? So far the closest concentrate I've tasted to like a cream soda (more along the lines of an italian soda) was NN Patchouli Vanilla. I'm not sure if it's exactly what you're looking for but might be a good start. The strawberry part is going to be easy, just pick your favorite combination of strawberries. I would also recommend saving sweet creams or creams as a last resort since a lot of them have a butyric acid note which can be distracting from the profile you're shooting for, and bring it more in to the realm of a strawberries & cream rather than a Cream Soda with Strawberry.
Okay, that makes a lot of sense! Thank you:)
I'm in the same boat as Cheebs here, would love to help, but I've never tried or even heard much about TFA Cream Soda. I'm also with him on the Sweet Cream. Ditch that. Try something like TFA Vanilla Swirl instead.
Can you try to describe what was off or missing from your other attempts?
Your strawberry choices look good for what you're trying to do, as best I can tell without knowing what Cream Soda tastes like and how they interact. I saw the suggestion here of 2% Dragonfruit and I think that's probably too much; start with half a percent if you decide to try that and work up if it seems to be headed in the right direction but in need of more.
Okay, I will have to wait until my order ships, and I'll report back with what I found. (Darn Holidays and their slowing down mail delivery!) ;)
As far as what was missing, I think the Cream Soda was more of a bland flavor. Like a generic bottle of cream soda that has gone flat. That's why I thought of the cream (though, now that you mention it, vanilla sounds like a much better idea! Call that a derr moment!)
P.S. - You all have been amazing! Thank you so much for the help!!!!!
You might want to add a vanilla custard flavor or something to give it a more mouthful-like cream if you can get your hands on it. Marshmallow from TFA is also a great fluffy mouthful flavor that plays well with other creams and fruits without become overbearing.
Okay, I have vanilla custard, i can try that. Should I keep the sweet cream, or use the custard instead?
Id keep the sweet cream but for the custard I would use it around 0.5% because its pretty damn strong and with the sweet cream together its going to help with the creaminess of it all. Do you have any ice cream flavors?
Really weird that I just saw this. I've got some flavors sitting to do reviews on, and I went down for some 2 week tests, and INW Turkish Tobacco was tasting like cream soda to me. Not that I'd suggest throwing that in there. Just kind of a weird coincidence that I just typed that up and then saw this.
Try adding like 2% Dragon fruit. It will amplify your strawberry flavor and help blend it with the cream soda!
Okay, I will add dragonfruit to my next order! Now that I think about it, we had a creamy strawberry flavor that used dragonfruit in the shop I worked at. Thanks :)
