Ive been making my own juice for a bit and something odd has been happening to my recipe lately. My ADV is topped off with 1% menthol and for some reason, even after stirring, shaking and steeping, it seems like the menthol separates, making a watery layer on top.
If I shake it vigorously before each drip, it's fine but when I forget I get an intensely minty harsh hit of pure menthol hell.
Any suggestions in how to mix it so it won't keep separating?
Need more input. What brand? What base is the menthol solution?
Run your bottle under some warm tap water to heat it up so the VG thins out. Then shake it like you stole it for a good minute. This should fix the menthol issue from separating. Menthol is notorious for separting from ejuice, it could be caused from the crystals clumping together to form a barrier between the juice. Heating the juice up a bit helps reblend everything together without the menthol crystals clumping up. adding a bit more PG may also help emulsify the menthol as well.
I think it might have reached its age and went bad? I was told by someone before that once a flavoring goes beyond its shelf life it starts separating from the mix. Don't quote me because this could be incorrect. The person I heard this from bought a 16 oz bottle of his ADV figuring hed have it for a long time and said after a year or so it wouldn't mix into the juice anymore.
