Thought this would be a fun post to start (also might make me feel less dumb haha).
Anyways so I got my nic in not too long ago and decided today was the day to get off my ass and transfer it into smaller 30ml bottles. So I move the box of pizza pockets in the freezer and grab the 120ml bottle of nic that was sitting pretty right behind it, also grab a couple pizza pockets because, you know, pizza pockets. I then bring my nic up to my mixing station/laboratory/end table beside my laptop to thaw out a little bit before the upcoming transferage of the bottles. I then go back downstairs and stick my pizza pockets in the microwave for a couple minutes, two minutes later and I'm gobbling up those beautiful, heavenly, pockets of pizza goodness (at this point I should probably let you know the pizza pockets play no role in this story whatsoever).
When I got back to the lab/juice creation zone/end table that also has a sock on it, I then take a good two minutes struggling to put my gloves on. After finally being successful with the hand protectage I can finally start transferring my nic YAY! So there are a couple bottles already on my workstation/creationspace/seriously guys its just a table in my bedroom, but I already have some bottles labeled for my nic with some super dangerfull warnings and stuff, so I grab those.
Everything's going great, transfer one, transfer two, transfer three and transfer four, AWESOME were done, great, this is good, now all i need to do is bring these bottles to the freezer. I start picking up all my bottles labeled "nicotine", "poison", "will die if ingested", "probably doesn't even taste good", but somethings wrong, I pick the last one up and it's empty. Somethings wrong here, I look at the table and wouldn't you know, I grabbed the wrong bottle to transfer my nic into. I ended up filling up a bottle, that already contained like 5 ml of juice, with nic WOOPS. There goes almost a months worth of nic.
TL;DR Accidentaly transfered my nic into a bottle that contained like 5ml of juice, ruining a months worth of nic. Also ate pizza pockets.
So what about you guys? got any stupid goofs you'd like to share?
Bought 4 oz flavors impulsively without trying them first or doing any research on them.
I did the same, but with recipes that tasted good, but were pretty harsh. I attributed it to oxidized nic, but it's the flavor.
Now I have to figure out what ingredients are making it harsh, which i really don't have time for.
Sounds like every flavour I've ever bought haha, but 4 oz? that's around 120ml if I remember correctly? That's a crapload, mind if I ask what flavours they were?
Gotta reach that free shipping goal somehow, and the per oz price is lot better on 4 oz than on 10ml, right? Wrong. I now have more than a lifetime's supply of several flavors either because they are gross or because they're so concentrated there's just no way I'll use them all up. Four ounces is not a crapload of a really good flavor that gets used often and isn't highly concentrated. For example, CAP Sugar Cookie has the distinction of being the first 4oz/120ml bottle of flavor I've ever used up completely and had to re-order (mixing only for myself and a handful of friends/family). TFA Strawberry will almost certainly be next... I'm kind of avoiding using the last little bit just to stretch it. And I'm sure it won't be long before Strawberry Ripe, CAP Vanilla Custard, and several others get used up as well. On the other hand, if anyone wants some TFA Black Tea, Blackberry, Brown Sugar, Grape Candy, Gummy Candy, Plum, Watermelon, or Kiwi Double, or FW Yellow Cake, I'd be happy to share just to keep them from going to waste.
Holy shit that's a lot of TFA Black Tea. I got buyers remorse after picking up 10ml. That's like enough to poison a water supply.
My 4oz mistakes, on my second order, were TFA Mango and TFA Malted Milk. I don't think it counts as a mistake, but I have 7/8th of my 4oz of Cap Vanilla Custard v1 that I just don't ever end up using.
My biggest 4oz mistake... TFA Marischino cherry, one drip will defile anything you mix it with and make it smell like diapers.
I have 4 oz of the shit...and I still have pretty close to 4oz.
I'd also be interested in a bit of your blackberry, brown sugar, grape candy, gummy candy, watermelon and kiwi...as I'd like to try em but will probably never get around to buying em.
I already have a 4oz yellow cake myself hahah it's aight.
FW yellow cake and TFA brown sugar are of interest to me. I've got a 1500ml of Inawera lemon cake, 8oz FA custard, 8oz FA Pandoro, 16oz OSDIY lucky shot....Any of those sound appealing in a trade? I have a ton of other stuff in smaller amounts but not in quantities larger than 4oz
Whenever I run out of a 30ml I'll order it in 4oz. So I had ordered a 4oz of Blueberry Extra. Next order I placed I ran thru my 30ml of Blueberry wild and meant to get a 4oz of that. Accidentally ordered more BB extra instead of BB wild. So now I have 8 oz of BB Extra.
Ha I used to only buy 4oz bottles when I first started mixing.. The thought "its cheaper in bulk" little over a year now and most of those 4oz haven't even been halved. I'd say about 4 orders in of over $100 each I learned I could have way more flavors if I stopped buying in bulk. The funny part about this DIY stuff is that im regretful I don't have more flavors instead of flavors i'll never finish.
Spilt ~15mL of TFA Strawberry all over my desk which proceeded to run all over my lap. Moved to mixing by weight a few days after that haha.
I spilt some TFA Papaya on my shirt once. If you have every smelled it, you would know why that's a bad thing
FA whiskey. Freshly opened 10ml, just pulled out about 0.3ml and proceeded to fumble the bottle all over myself. Had to go back to work with no time to shower. Changed clothes but that didn't get rid of the odor that had seeped onto my skin. I smelled like hardcore drunk for about 3 days
I have mixed a 5 gallon batch, tossed it in the mixer, smell it when it comes out and it doesn't smell right. Looked at the jugs of flavoring I was using and had accidentally mistaken a rum flavoring for vanilla classic. They are the exact same color and I was just out of it that day, didn't double check the label like I should have. Dumped the entire thing down the drain.
Wow. I find myself upping my production for friends and family, but can't imagine mixing 5 gallons as a single batch.
Hmm... i should hit up my calculator software and see if I've mixed a total of 5 gallons over the last two years!
So much juice down the drain :(. You didn't even try it first? What if it was one of those Bob Ross happy accidents?
I did taste it first just for fun to see how close it was, it completely changed the flavor profile though and was nowhere near as good. We don't keep "uh oh's" around in our shop for fear of them accidentally getting mixed up with the correct product.
Lol that's rough. So far my biggest flavor mistake was when I was making 2.5g of flavor base I did TFA Strawberry twice instead of TFA Strawberry then TFA Strawberry ripe, which the recipe uses 5x more ripe than regular. I still have it around trying to cut it into new batches so it doesn't go to waste lol
Once I mixed 30% TFA pineapple instead of 3%. Yeah, it was a bit strong. That flavor melts steel beams.
TFA Pineapple did 9/11.
I accidentally added two drops of INW Biscuit to a bottle of a banana mix i was tossing together. Said "screw it, keep it", and it [turned out better than expected.] (https://38.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lvr97uwP7l1qibz0jo1_r1_500.png) So it's sticking around in the recipe as it progresses.
While mixing a blue raspberry/fresh cream/rainbow sherbet for a friend (his idea, and he loves it), I dropped about 4ml of the cream into my sherbet flavor bottle instead of his 120ml. It was a long day, so I just started laughing out loud like a crazy person. Luckily the cream is a vg base, and sherbet a pg base. The cream mostly sunk to the bottom of the bottom, with clear separation, where I could use a syringe to pull it off the bottom. Mostly.
I've read the wrong numbers off of my e-juice Calc and turned my 2mg nic juice into like 10mg juice. Didn't have the heart to poor it out so once I diluted it I now have an extensive amount of mediocre juice that I'll eventually finish.... Maybe... Should have just poured it out.
There will be plenty more to come I'm sure...
Just got new nicotine from nude nicotine (great by the way much better than my previous which was wizard labs) and it's pg based. Well my crappy wizard labs nic was all vg and I forgot to factor that into my recipes on ELR. So since pg is much lighter I was using way too much nic in my mixes and it was way strong. It's funny cuz for my first 3 mixes I thought it was jus because the nicotine was new and hadnt degraded any until it finally dawned on me lol.
One time i forgot i ordered concentrate of some tobacco flavored juice instead of ready to vape juice. I was just starting so i didn't know anything, i thought it just needed to steep longer. After trying it twice a day for about 2 weeks my mom called from a different floor complaining about the smell. I explained to her there was nothing wrong and that it just needed to steep some more. She didn't believe me and asked if i was smoking concentrate or something. I told her that ofcourse i wasn't, that would be stupid, but i'd check anyway. i was vaping pure concentrate....
Probably my least favorite to date was accidentally labeling a bottle of 3mg with a ~eleven 12mg bottles, they all looked the same so I had to taste test them until I found the bottle of 3mg. It was like playing russian roulette except instead of one bullet they're all bullets. Needless to say I had my nic fix for a while!
One time I was mixing up something that required 6% CAP sugar cookie and ended up SOMEHOW dripping 6% worth of CAP vanilla custard v1 into the 30mL bottle I was making. It was also one of the last flavoring concentrates I added from the recipe.
I only realized after I finished adding it in.
I was so very pissed.
I do my mixing in my office, and I was pouring some VG from the gallon jug into smaller containers, when my cat pushed my office door open and leapt onto the desk I was leaning against. Needless to say, it caught me by surprise and I spilled about 50ml of VG on my desk, carpet, hands, pants and so forth. That was an awful clean up.
