Determining if concentrates are safe to vape
submitted almost 9 years ago by dozar

Hey guys,

I found a small company producing flavor concentrates, all their concentrates are GRAS by FDA and FEMA standards, and list what is in each of them (roughly), is there any major things I need to look out for to know it's not safe to vape?

CAS Numbers:

Acetyl Propionyl: 600-14-6

Acetoin: 513-86-0

Diacetyl: 431-03-8

Sugars like fructose

That's what folks usually look for. Gotta do your own research to determine if these are "unsafe" or if other things are.

Also, avoid natural flavors if you're seeking a healthy vape. Artificial flavors have far fewer compounds (5-10) vs the thousands in natural flavors, so you're arguably less likely to avoid something found to be unsafe in the future if you inhale less substances.

Ultimately, I think vaping anything has to be healthier for me than smoking is. I don't avoid things unless they make me feel worse, but that's a personal choice and you'll have to figure out what's right for you. The safest thing to do is go be a hermit somewhere with clean air and don't smoke or vape.

Also watch out for things like food coloring and thickeners. If they list roughly what's in there, they ought to mention these.
