What happened to the Modest Monday guy? Also thanks to r/DIY_ejuice
submitted almost 9 years ago by mrshestiaFrugivore

Hi all,

I've been mixing for about 2-3 months now and this subreddit/the people on it have been indispensable to me as a resource. My comments are sparse and sprinkled, but I'm constantly learning and lurking here. (I read almost every post on this sub, and I wish I was exaggerating)

I have several of the Modest Monday posts (I forget his username) bookmarked because his explanations on how to mix and recipes that were included were really helpful to me. I went to reread one of the posts a few days ago and the account, and therefore the posts, are deleted :(

Does anyone know why?

I did check waybackmachine, hoping they'd be archived there, but no such luck. I'm now in the process of adding my other bookmarks on this sub to waybackmachine to prevent my other resources from disappearing like this in the future!

Alternatively, does anyone know if he's posted those links/discussions elsewhere? I know he has a podcast where he mentions this stuff, but I'm hearing impaired so struggling through a podcast would kind of suck for me.

Shoutout to everyone else on this sub as well for their help, especially /u/ID10-T and /u/ConcreteRiver (ID10-T's responded to a couple of my questions a couple of times, as well as being an amazing mixer, Concrete's done the same as well as posting a bunch of awesome flavor reviews lately). With the help of this sub, I've created tons of tasty ejuice for myself and my boyfriend, as well as successfully brought my nicotine down from 3mg to 1mg. If I was still buying ejuice, I probably would've caved and picked up a couple packs of cigarettes by now, since I'm hurting for cash and commercial juice is more expensive than cigs with my level of juice consumption.

Hey guys!

I took down a lot of the older Modest Mondays because I want to rewrite them to a more professional standard. They are safely stored away and backed up.

I've stopped writing them recently because I'm very busy with work, the MIXXED! contest, and other DIYorDie projects.

What happens when I'm done revising the old Modest Monday articles? They are going onto DIY or Die. They will be completely free just as they always have been. No pay wall. No account needed. All beginner content is always free.

Will I continue posting Modest Monday on Reddit? Yes, if I ever get back around it. I haven't written any Modest Mondays recently. No exclusive content anywhere. As I mentioned, just very busy.

Also to those who might be wondering, this wasn't any type of "move" or anything like that. /u/Vurve has always been tight with DOD and he just decided its better to keep everything in one spot in its own section so people can find it a bit easier. Hopefully everyone will enjoy the new layout of the Beginner Posts once they're done!

Thank you so much for the response!! I'm so glad to hear they're not gone forever :D

For now, I'll eagerly await their appearance on DIYorDie, but if I get impatient I'll bug you with a PM for a couple of the old posts I had bookmarked. You rock <3

by skiddlzninjaalmost 9 years agoThat one moderator. You know, the honey guy.

He's rewriting them, then they will be hosted for free on diyordievaping.com

If you have any questions about anything you read in them, or need a refresher, feel free to pm him on here.

This!

A couple people have already noticed and sent me PM's for a certain episodes or two. I'm am happy to send you these until they are ready to be re-hosted. I left up a lot of the more recent articles so people have access to some of them.

Indeed he is, here is the compilation posted by Vurve himself.

Thanks very much for sharing this man, I was meaning to save a local copy but never got to it. Can't wait for the updated version on DIEorDIE.

I'm so embarrassed, I love /u/vurve and his recipes... somewhere down the line, by brain lost the connection between him and the Modest Monday posts.

That being said, vurve, why'd you delete them? :( Even if they weren't getting the response you hoped, I'm sure I'm not the only one who used them as resources!

They're still there by the looks of it.

EDIT: Ok, maybe only the last few...

I know he did not do all of them, but looking through his post history it appears that at least this one, this one, and these two recipe ModestMonday posts: One and two are still around. There is also this post.

I know other users did them as well, but I could have sworn /u/vurve had done most of them himself - am I going crazy /u/vurve or are some of them missing?

I now /u/matthewkocanda filled in once or twice. But, usually it's /u/vurve . I think he got busy at work and just didn't have time.

I can't speak for vurve but the Discord group has really cut into the time I spend on reddit too.

I didn't think OP was talking about why those posts weren't being continued, but rather why they can't find ModestMonday posts that used to be up - and unless there were just way fewer than I thought, there are some MIA.

And yeah I feel ya on Discord jbird. The only thing I dislike is having to catch myself up on the conversation every time I use it, but I suppose that's part of the point of the app lol.

Great post, I share your thoughts completely. I would have given up with DIY after my first couple of mixes if it wasn't for the Reddit community. Modest Monday has great advice, I'm looking forward to the shiny version!

Mrshestia, Thank you! Just now seeing your post because I've been ill for the past few days and it has made day on my first, mostly miserable, not-quite-well yet return to work. "Amazing mixer" might be a bit much, but helping newer mixers is what I'm all about so few things make me happier than hearing that I've succeeded a little at that.
