INW Plum
submitted almost 9 years ago by wh1skeyk1ngThanks for reading this flair

Setup: Velocity clone; dual twisted 28awg @ .55Ω; cotton wicks; 40 W

Testing: INW Plum @ 3%; Aged: 5 days

Flavor description: Has a rather authentic sort of "plum skin" taste, and has a reminiscent taste of deep purple concord grapes with a bit of the purple pieces in Trix cereal. Decently balanced between wet and dry, and is predominantly sweet with some subtle tartness.

Off-flavors: nothing off at 3%, but may get weird if you push the percentage much higher.

Throat hit: 5/10

Uses: Enjoyable as a standalone or as a top note (2-3%), blends well into the middle of a fruit mix, effective as a dark accent to another fruit(0.5-1.5%). This could also easily be used as a substitute for grape.

Pairings: Creams, bakeries, most fruits, dark tobaccos.

Notes: While I thought the purple Trix cereal taste I get on the exhale was rather odd, I still find this flavor very enjoyable. I do believe that if paired with the right fruits, that cereal bit may not be noticeable.

My 2 cents, wonderful flavor, once I found how to use it. I believe it's meant to be used as an accent only. It will overpower anything where I have used it over 1.5%. Goes great with FA White Peach and/or TFA Apricot too. Here is something from /u/HocusKrokus that I am enjoying.

Thanks! It's a weird thing to be known for, but I've got no shame.

Oh shit. My last few flavor orders managed to randomly get the missing pieces for that! I shall be mixing that posthaste!

I'm all giddy. Just got this flavor in two days ago. So, 1% for tobacco pairing you think? Definitely want to avoid Purple Trix note lol.

I would start at 0.5% if the tobacco is supposed to be a focal point.

Will do, cheers.

I'd start with 0.5% unless you are looking for a plum front note. I do enjoy tobacco in the background, but as /u/Philosaphucker stated, you might not want it taking away from your intricate tobacco taste. I think INW Dark for Pipe or Black for Pipe at 2.5-3% maybe with a touch of FA Oakwood would stand up to INW Plum at 1% fairly well after about 3 weeks. Those are the two richest and darkest tobacco flavors I have tried and I wouldn't have any problem gambling them 3:1 against INW Plum.

This is currently 7 days old and so far, so good. Gonna wait to see what happens before fully releasing it though.

I have all of these and I think this would be awesome. You might want to watch that FLV Red Burley, I thought it got a bit weird at 3%, but only after a 3-4 week steep. Almost too thick and nutty for my liking. 1% might be alight though. I thought it was just fine as a SnV.

I love how low your total flavoring is! Sometimes less really is more with tobacco.

Might have to whip that up for a 1% test run. I'll do 0.5 for a test with some lighter tobaccos too.

Could this go wih a black currant mix in it?

I like it with FA Black Currant. I recently got ahold of INW Black Currant and I think it would mix very well with it as well.

I think you posted the wrong link there.

Wtf. Thanks! Edited.

Absolutely. I think it would do very well with almost any berry fruit, but if mixed low enough, it could be a nice accent to apple, pear, and possibly come citrus or tropical fruits.
