Getting my mother into vaping to quit smoking, says she wants a coffe recipe and every coffee i've ever made BLOWS, any help?
submitted almost 9 years ago by PopeVsJesus

I have espresso, cappuccino, tiramisu all from FA.

Every coffee vape i've tried to make tastes like ass, often much too bitter..

Help me make a mom vape! Coffee recipes would be appreciated, or any other recipe you think a mom would like.

She doesn't like super super sweet candy flavors or anything like that. More simple flavors like tea, coffee, and some semi-sweet deserts

I've been enjoying, off and on, Mocca (INW) in the 2% range, with a touch (.25-.5%) of cream (Cap/TFA Bavarian Cream or HS Italian Cream; FA Vienna Cream would work well, I imagine, too)... Really balanced, mildly sweet chocolate cream with hints of coffee, nothing bitter or heavy like like what you've mentioned.

INW Mocca is the only thing I found to be close to ok.

Bought and haven't tried Cup of Joe yet, other than that the DiY Coffee extract route seems to be the only "good way".

Alisa on elr has one I've been wanting to try but I'm too lazy to make the extract so far:

http://e-liquid-recipes.com/recipe/549065/DaMomma%27s%20Creamy%20Iced%20Coffee

The DiY Coffee ingredient: "I use very finely ground Italian or French roast coffee. I use six tablespoons to approximately 20 to 25 ml of PG. Ya, it's really thick. I Put all these fine ingredients in a Pyrex container, place them in a pan of simmering water for several hours, then strain through a coffee filter. Yields around 10 to 12ml's. Remember patience is a virtue."

Use above method, but strain at least twice.

Coffee extractions actually contain solid plant matter, and should be filtered through micron filters multiple time before being vaped.

Last I saw, rtsvapes had inw mocca on clearance at 70% off, also, in case it helps.

Coming back to this, I just picked up Coffee Paradise Tobacco by INW (based on /u/ChemicalBurnVictim 's recommendation for use in his Old Money and it's a pretty delicious, well balanced cup; very little, if any, tobacco to speak of @ 3%, it melds pretty well to create a solid standalone.

I also recently grabbed Up (FA). It's more bitter than Mocca @ 3%, but adds some cookie/biscuit notes to balance it out if you want a sweeter, but slightly heavier coffee flavor... I'd probably stay lower than 3% since the coffee flavor was much deeper than I'd prefer.

I should also note that the Tiramisu, as others have suggested, is a pretty solid contender -- /u/cjinct posted a HIC recipe (Tiramisu Cream) in this thread that I bought Tiramisu specifically for and it's pretty effin tasty; Similar in style to one of my RY4 daily drivers and has a nice earthy sort of backnote to it from the Tiramisu that I'll be using much, much more of in the future and probably even incorporating into the RY4 mix.

This is a recipe that many around me like a lot. It's not sweet, but there is a slight presence of sweetness. Its there to help take away the dryness caused by the espresso/tiramisu. On a sweetness scale i would give it a 3 out of 10. Also, this recipe is intended for non sub-ohm vaping as it is quite a strong flavour.

Dark Bean Espresso (FA) 0.5%

Vienna Cream (FA) 0.75%

Fresh Cream (FA) 1.5%

Shisha Vanilla (INW) 0.5%

Brown Sugar (TPA) 0.3%

Tiramisu (FA) 0.2%

MTS Vape Wizard (FA) 0.08%

If you want it a little sweeter, you can increase the brown sugar note to >1%.

5 points

by ohm-societyalmost 9 years ago

Simplied version is:

Dark Bean Espresso (FA) 0.5%

Fresh Cream (FA) 2%

Brown Sugar (TPA) 0.4%

Tiramisu (FA) 0.2%

But the additional ingredients really help round out of bitter notes, they add additional mouth-feel, complexity and ultimately make for a more enjoyable vape

I was a bit worried about Dark Bean at 0.5% but the rest of the flavorings here seem to work to help pacify and smooth it out. Great recipe!

I love HIC's Tiramisu Cream. And a friend's husband who I got to switch to vaping, vapes this and nothing else. I just send him 4oz bottles every couple of months!

1% FlavourArt Vienna Cream
1% FlavourArt Catalan Cream
1% FlavourArt Tiramisu
1% FlavourArt Fresh Cream

Shake 'n vape!

If you don't have all of these Cream flavors, just use more of one of the others. Extra Vienna adds a sweet, creamy vanilla; extra Catalan adds vanilla, cinnamon, and caramel; extra Fresh Cream adds more vapor and decreases sweetness. Any combination is smooth and flavorful.

I can also vouch for another recipe from HiC:

http://www.vapingunderground.com/threads/hics-vanilla-nut-coffee.1846/

And this recipe is not sweet at ALL. Somewhat bitter actually, in a good way. Also I would recommend steeping it a few days at least despite the shake 'n vape recommendation.

Another one that is ADV worthy and much sweeter:

This is the "coffee vape" I use, it is still kind of a WIP but it is pretty solid in my opinion. It's a bit more "dry" for lack of a better way to describe it.

Just throwing it out there, somewhat for myself and for others....

Captains Coffee (Percents need adjusted)

  • FA Dark Bean (Espresso) 0.5%
  • CAP French Vanilla V2 3%
  • FA Bourbon (Vanilla Bourbon) 2.5%
  • TFA Cheesecake Graham Cracker Crust 4%
  • TFA Sweet Cream 0.75%

Dark Bean is stroooooooooooong, and it doesn't really simmer down at all. French vanilla V2 doesn't have a strong middle body. I figure the Bourbon will smoothes the grit of the coffee. The graham cracker will cover the low mids.

And the French vanilla keeps the sweet.

  • That way, the top end is the sweetness of the French vanilla/sweet cream.
  • Top mids is the sweetness of the coffee bumped by the sweet cream.
  • Middle is bourbon/graham cracker.
  • Low Mids is graham cracker.
  • Low is Bourbon/graham cracker/possibly coffee grit.

I warn you this project was worth it, but produced an incredibly thick juice for anyone avoiding PG. But I took some D & D coffee beans and ground them up with my trusty grinder. Placed the grounds in a mason jar and filled the jar with a mix of PG and VG. Actually did a number of batches of different mixes finding my person favorite flavor. I then left them to sit for roughly 3 months and would shake them up every day or two during that time. Once everything looked and smelled good, I went ahead and removed the majority of the grounds using a French press. What the press left behind I filtered out using coffee filters and warming the liquid to get it through the filters. Once I felt it was close to filtered enough I used a couple larger syringes from my old mixing days to filter even more through a number of cotton balls stuff into the syringes.

Since I like a strong flavoring I left it as it was, added nicotine, my favorite sweetener and a little bit of chocolate flavoring. This still resulted in a bit of a thick juice as I went heavy on VG, but using a dropper that wasn't an issue. The biggest downside to this is that it gunks up coils like its no bodies business, but hands down the best coffee flavor I could possibly find.

I'm glad you had success with this approach. I tried something similar about two years ago, even used the same Dunkin's beans, but the end result tasted like two week old coffee, with the slight aftertaste of burning tire.

This one is so good and everyone who tried it loved it. I was considering starting my own liquid line because of it but with the regulations I gave up on it. So here goes...

Cappuccino (Capella) @ 5% [not sure if v.1 or v.2 I'll check] Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (Capella) @ 2.5%

That's it. I called it "Basic Bitch" Couldn't tell if people liked the name or the liquid more haha. Not a coil killer either. On the bottle it was going to say, "Put on your UGG boots and embrace your inner Basic Bitch!"

Coffee and Cream from Flavorwest is the best coffee flavor hands down. It's really creamy with a hint of coffee. Add some vanilla custards/creams and you'll have an amazing coffee vape. Add some frosted donut TPA and Capella Glazed donut, and you get your coffee and donuts vape. Enjoy.

Is the flavoring really dark? I haven't tried that one yet I usually steer clear of their darker concentrates. I'll have to order some soon to try it out.

1 points

by simpleone234almost 9 years agoMixologist

It's dark but if you use it at about 3%, it won't make your overall liquid very dark at all.

Curious as to why this is a concern?

1 points

by VapeQueen214almost 9 years ago

FA cappuccino and espresso are my favorite coffees. I usually do something like this for a quick coffee mix

4% Cappuccino FA
.25% Espresso FA
1% Graham cracker TFA (Or Capella's version if I want a little
bit of cinnamon)
1.5% Sweet Cream CA

Adding in some vanilla custard could be good as well. FA cappuccino isnt bitter at all, so just go light on the espresso to prevent too much bitterness. That stuff is strong and doesn't get lighter with steeping IMO.

Every coffee recipe I've ever tried was horrible unless it had tiramisu flavoring. Also coffee flavorings tend to be really concentrated so you don't need much to be able to taste them - they take a while to steep too.

Go to bull city vapors, they have honest reviews there

FA up, FA dark bean, FW cafe coffee

2%, .5%, or 3%

4% TFA bavarian cream with either of those three.

1 points

by meanrockSDalmost 9 years ago

FA Tiramisu at 2% by itself. Or FA Tiramisu at 0.25% and INW Mocha at 1.5%.

Those are the only coffee recipes I've ever made myself or after mixing others recipes that I would be comfortable selling or giving to others. Everything else seems to taste like burnt rubber or warm turds after 2-3 months.

1 points

Flavourart UP! On its own. It's a mild coffee with some interests. Probably the best coffee type liquid I ever had.

1 points

by SteepingTakesTimealmost 9 years ago

FA Cappuccino around 2% plus whatever creams you enjoy is pretty nice. I like VBIC, Whipped Cream, Irish Cream, and Bavarian Cream. Both individuals and combinations. If you're really choosy about what creams you use, it can be very very easy on coils.

EDIT: Just wanted to add this. In my opinion, coffee flavors NEED sweeteners. Even if it's only a little bit. Coffee extracts are typically very bitter and I think sweetener helps round off the edges and give it a little more body.

I make this recipe for m mom from time to time:

Vanilla RY4

RY4 Double (TPA) 5.5%

Vanilla Swirl (TPA) 3%

Vanilla Shisha (INW) 1% : which can be substituted for another vanilla such as Vanilla Bourbon (TPA).

by RinVapesalmost 9 years ago

I haven't found a coffee flavoring I really enjoy either. They all vape like skunk ass. The closest I've found in Molinberry French Coffee and Inawera's coffee was ok. I can't STAND any of the Flavour Art coffee flavors or TFA. Tea is a little easier. TFA Green Tea or Flavor Express Green Tea are ok. TFA Sweet Tea is excellent. Just keep in mind if you mix any of those too high it can be bitter.

Shameless self plug here. This is my entry into the Beginner Blending competition. It's a slightly sweet apple tobacco, and since then I've made it for a number of my friends that vape, with two of them being relatively older (34 and 39), one of whom was actively trying to get off cigs. So far, everyone has really liked it, and I've been really happy with the compliments. I have a revised version in the works, but I'm not ready to release that yet.

I know you want a coffee vape, but based on your description of her tastes, I think this one will fit her. Message me if you'd like me to send a bottle to a P.O. Box or something.

Tell your mom good luck, and we're all cheering for her!

My advice... Have someone who likes coffee flavors try them before deciding they suck. I used to make one for a friend that he swore was the best thing he ever vaped, but I would have thrown it away after the first drip. I even built out up as total garbage when explaining it to him and brave fuck vaped it anyway (I give away all my tester bottles I make... He picked out our of the box I took up to the B&M I used to frequent. The box is called "The Box of Broken Hearts and Lost Hopes". I tend not to reuse bottles so it fills up often.).

Try making your own flavoring! Using PG, add a bit of instant coffee grounds and let it sit for a while. It'll make a great flavoring

2 points

by PopeVsJesusalmost 9 years ago

I've heard lots about this but I also read this produces lipids as a byproducts which are not very good to vape.

1 points

No, lipids (oils) will give you lipid pneumonia, which is horrible and will kill you. I hadn't heard that, thanks for the info.

Apple pie. The coffee conundrum is unbreakable... It's a waste of resources. It will always come out either too weak, or disgustingly lingery... Try some peach and Earl grey or pina colada. No coffee....
