I use that one - you can also disable to auto-shutoff which is very handy. The backlight still turns off but the weight remains and backlight comes back on after a change in weight is made
How do you disable auto-off? It's not in the instructions that mine came with, although with a 90-second shutoff it's not really a problem.
I don't have this so I can't confirm, but the comment from the Q&A section has these instructions:
> 1. Turn on the scale and press and hold the 'T' tare button until a default number appears on the screen. 2. The number on the screen indicates the idle time in seconds needed for auto-off. 3. Press the 'M' unit button to cycle through the preset auto-off options: 60, 120, 180 and 0 seconds. 4. Once you're at the desired amount of time, press the power button to confirm your selection. NOTE: The '0' seconds option deactivates the auto-off function.
This was my first scale I used when I got into DIY, lasted a long time for me, about a year. After a few spills it started acting up and buttons got stuck.
I've spilled so much on my American Weigh Scales LB-501 it's not even funny. Because VG doesn't oxidize or does slowly most of the time when I open it afer a a few weeks to a month it's still there. I can piss properly into the toilet without it going all over the rim or floor but can't aim and be clean with mixing to save my life.
That scale, which is the most common in the DIY community by a mile, comes with 2 200g weights for calibration. The @'s scale doesn't come with one and Amazon is charging $7 for it plus shipping if you don't have Prime.
If you go that route then it's more than the LB-501. I think Amazon has a sale on it too at $25 but you can always get it on Ebay too for under $30.
Can anyone explain why American LB 501 is better? Or is LB just more expensive due to brand name?
I really like my LB 510. It comes with calibration weights, no auto shut-off, can go up to 500g, measures to .01g, and can be used with batteries or the included adapter to plug it in.
Mine also came with a plastic bowl which is nice if you are mixing in a 30ml bottle as it will catch any spills.
Been using it for probably 2 years now with no issues.
