In light of the FOTW, my favorite cocktail recipe: Cumulonimbus

This flavor is modeled after my favorite cocktail, the dark and stormy. The cocktail is dark spiced rum (usually goslings black seal) and ginger beer (I prefer Bundaberg or Cock & Bull) with a squeeze of lime, over ice.

Ginger Ale (TPA) - 3%
Jamaican Rum (FA) - 2%
Lime Tahiti Cold Pressed (FA) 1%
Koolada 10%pg (TFA) .33 % or 3 drops per 30 ml

I have been chasing this recipe for about a year and I went through a lot of iterations to get here and I don't think its perfect but it is getting closer.

Ginger Ale (TFA) - This is the perfect flavor for my ginger beer base and it has the sweet and subtle spicy nature that is needed, basically the ginger comes across without being overbearing. There is a slight fizzy nature which helps with the overall profile.

Jamaican Rum (FA) - The main sweetness of the mix. There is a touch of a boozy note but could be stronger. There is a slight molasses like note that really helps everything taste authentic.

Lime Tahiti Cold Pressed (FA) - This is the only lime flavor I have but it works perfectly at this low percentage. It gives that citrus note on the aftertaste and brightens up the entire mix. This really makes it takes like a squirt of lime juice in the cocktail, which is what it is supposed to do, awesome.

Koolada - Added to give it that on ice feel, could be omitted based on preference but it does give it a nice cool sensation that makes it feel more like a cold drink than just a flavor.

I have other versions and experimentations of this currently going but this is the base recipe that I am working off of. It vapes just fine as is.

I did mix up a 100ml at the end of the summer with a small amount of Exotic Roots (INW) to bring out the ginger note more and that worked well, but that flavoring is so potent I would be careful mixing any amount in small bottles.

I am also currently experimenting with Champagne by Real Flavors to get that harder bite of the ginger beer and more a realistic fizzy mouthfeel. It is promising but not official yet.

If you have not tried the actual cocktail I would recommend mixing it yourself, it ain't hard, or asking your local barkeep, that stocks ginger beer, to mix you one up. Dark and Stormies are so refreshing and tasty, I couldn't resist mixing a complimentary ejuice flavor.

Cumulonimbus is the name I choose because that is the meteorological name for a large storm cloud, it seemed fitting. I like how simple this recipe is, but when vaped it tastes really complex. I hope you all enjoy!

Looks pretty similar to one of mine lol; interesting how they can be so similar but I bet they are pretty different. I just got in the Lime Tahity so I'll be sure to mix this up and give it a try!

For sure let me know how the champagne by real flavors turns out; effervescence is a b*tch.

Ahh, the very cocktail that landed my dad in the hospital with alcohol poisoning and a broken hip this August! (dark & stormy is right, sad lol, what a shite year 2016 has been for us all, huh?)

It's cool, though; he's much, much better all around, and has been clean & sober ever since. I feel like I can revisit this profile with a special kind of appreciation in this benign form.

This is a beautiful and simple recipe with some great players that promises more complexity than its ingredients hint at, and I'm really looking forward to trying it. Especially since I've had HS Ginger for awhile, haven't played with it, and it looks like it would fit in nicely here. I'll mix up a couple of versions of this one and get back to you if HS Ginger adds anything worth noting. Do you have a recommended steep time on this one?

Loved the anecdote.

It's not bad as a shake and vape. The rum comes out and the lime calms down after a week.

Let me know how the hs ginger goes, I know it needs more bite.

I definitely will!

HS makes some pretty bangin' flavors, and Ginger doesn't smell so punchy that one drop extra could kill a mix, which is good.

I wish I could get my hands on INW Exotic Roots, but BCF doesn't carry it, and I'm sticking to my plan for a one-and-done last big flavor order until way after the holidays.
