Is there a go-to replacement for TFA's Vanilla Bean Ice Cream? Lately anything I mix with it just leaves a seemingly bitter/chemically aftertaste.
CAP's version gets recommended as a replacement for people who have trouble with it
Haven't started mixing yet, but I've been saving bottles from old orders. I know new bottles are cheap, but if I can save a little bit, why not? That being said does anyone else recycle their old bottles? Im just using hot water and soap, letting them soak a while then rinsing and drying.
I'll generally give them a quick wash, similar to what you are doing, then drop them into a pot filled with water and bring it up to a boil, let it boil for like 5 minutes, turn off the heat, and just air dry the bottles on a rack. Probably a bit overkill, but it works.
If you are satisfied with how your bottles are coming out, no smell or residue left, then you're probably golden.
Made my first order of DIY supplies and bought 30ml of Nicotine at 100mg/ml (99.7% VG).
I normally vape 3mg and "Max VG" so 75% or greater VG (depending on brand)
Part of me thinks my first step should be to mix up one or two 30ml bottles of 6mg nic at 95% VG. (1.8ml nicotine, 1.5ml PG, and 26.7ml VG)), then use the 6mg nicotine solution as a base for future mixing.
Is there a reason to NOT to do this? Off the top of my head it seems like a good way to get down to a safer to handle nic level and have a clean base to start from
honestly, working with 100mg nic isn't that difficult especially if you're using some form of recipe calculator (i like this one). my first order of 100mg nic was 60ml. i split that in two and put one in the freezer and i keep one in the fridge. when i mix i pull the one from the fridge out and use it. when that one runs out i'll grab the one from the freezer.
as for measuring it, i measure by weight, i take a syringe and pull out about 1ml drip it into the mix until the scale hits .93g and put the rest back into the nic bottle. this is for 30ml bottles, obviously it changes based on the amount i'm making. it's honestly that easy.
100mg nic isn't that scary. be careful, wear gloves, consider eye protection. if you get some on your skin clean it off immediately. i keep alcohol wipes in my kit... everything we work with is sticky.
also, vg based nic is going to be more prone to nicotine hotspots so make sure you give that bottle a VIGOROUS shake before you use it.
I may end up going by weight in the future, but for now, just liquid volume. Thanks for the info on the hot spots, I didn't think about that one.
There is no reason not to dilute your nic down for storage and safer handling. Make sure the recipe calculator you are using will allow you to enter 6mg nic 95/5 base for mixing first. I think most if not all of them will do that, but just check to make sure.
Hello! I have just mixed my first juice! What I was wondering was how much it matters if you go over or under the amount of flavouring? Like some of the flavours I accidentally went over 0.05g. Some times more sometimes less. Think this happened with the vg and Nic too. So would it really impair the end result? Or would it just make it maybe more interesting? Cheers!
With VG and nic, it shouldn't make any noticeable difference. With flavours, if your are mixing 10-15mls then it could affect it, but if it's a 30ml bottle, then I would say the difference is minimal. Also depends on what flavors you put in and how potent they are. All in all, you have nothing to worry about and congrats on mixing up your first bottle!
Yeah 30ml I went for! And thanks for the reply! I'm loving mixing so far don't know why I didn't do it sooner! One more question, I read in a few places that buying vg off of eBay is fine so I went and got some. Though I'm still unsure if that was a good move. Do you think eBay bought vg is ok to vape? I got 1000ml for a fiver.
I've always stuck with a tolerance of +/- .02g. I don't think a 100th of a gram is going to make or break a recipe. When I get close to the desired weight, I give myself extra time between drops to let everything settle.
As for the pg/vg question, it seems you want cheap but you also want as pure as possible. I use Liquid Barn since it comes in decent quantities and has a dropper type tip on it. Yes, it's a little bit more than most places but rather spend on quality instead of quantity.
I wanted to start making juices. So far I ordered glycerin, pippetes, and bottles to put the juice in. I am doing this for pure flavor so no pg or nicotine. I wanted to start off with something easy like vanilla ice cream or mint. How would I go about this? Thanks!
So I ordered the stuff to mix up a strawberry custard for my first time. I ordered stuff off of ecigexpress. I got the 70/30 mix with 3mg of nicotine. Is this good stuff? Should I get them separate next time and make my own mix? This is my very first time so I have no clue what to do.
I suppose you'll just have to try it to find out :) You ordered from a well known vendor, so it should be fine.
Separate components allows for more control over PG/VG ratios and nicotine strength, but just starting out, there's no need.

Hello! I am a new mixer that has lurked for about a year here and have taken all the GREAT advice to heart. I started a personal collection of suggested recipes that sounded good to me and finally decided to take the plunge and get supplies from Nicotine river.
Let me tell you, I will never pay for 'premium' juices again.
I would like to give a shout out to /u/fizzmustard for their mustard milk (diketone free) recipe! Holy cow! this stuff is AMAZING! Thank you so much for creating this! After an agonizing 2 week steep, this juice is well on its way to be my ADV.
My question is if there a place in this sub where people can give shout outs or new reviews of older recipes? I know one can post reviews to the mixing websites but sometimes I find that great recipes get buried among the mediocre ones.
Review on ATF or just post to the original recipe in this sub. If people are looking for the recipe, they will see your review
Recipe reviews is a cool concept. I know a lot of people post a lot of recipes here, but after part way through the monthly thread, they seldom get re-visited or mixed by anyone. I'm sure there's plenty of "diamonds in the rough" if you will as far as under-rated recipes, and throwing them back up via review with some notes sounds like a great way to acknowledge the creator and shine light on something that was lost in the darkness of a month long thread.
Agreed. I see a lot if recipes that look really good to me on the** monthly recipe thread for example, then you see some commenting:
"Looks great! I'll mix this tonight and get back to you."
And you check a few days later, and nothing, no replies.
I guess I'll have to struggle till my flavors arsenal gets filled up.

Hi guys, I'm not a new vaper and I'm also not really looking to DIY.
I want to vape unflavored juice at 3mg, with it being high VG.
Is there a company that offers mixes of VG and PG in 3mg strength? (I'm looking to get around 80vg 20pg,no flavor)
If not, what's the easiest way for me to mix the bases myself to achieve 3mg,high VG juice without flavoring?
Something like this would be perfect for you. There are probably cheaper options out there and probably even some with 80/20, but this will give you an idea of what you're looking for.
Also, buying nicotine, PG, and VG separately would be even cheaper and would allow you to mix any ratio you wanted.
I have one question that I couldn't justify opening a whole thread on.
A few months ago, I remember reading in some long-lost thread that neither Reddit nor Google seems to recall that peanut butter flavorings work so much better when you add "X"-Cream to them. Everyone seemed to agree with this necessary pairing, but I cannot, for the life of me remember if it was Bavarian Cream, Vienna Cream, Cream Fresh, or Butter Cream, or something else entirely.
I don't have any experience mixing with peanut butter flavorings, as it's not a flavor that has a ton of appeal for me, but a friend has asked me if I can make him something approaching Vapor Jerry's "Skipper", and I'm willing to give it a shot with the FLV Peanut Butter I have on hand and the TFA Peanut Butter that I'm picking up in my last order before the holidays, but I could really use the leg-up that this apparently necessary cream pairing might give me.
Anyone remember which cream needs to be paired with peanut butter to make it "work"?
You might be thinking of FW Hazelnut at 1 or 2%. It's creamy but at a low percentage, the hazelnut is not apparent and you also help accentuate the creaminess of the PB. Also some people like adding Capella peanut butter at 1% to TFA Peanut butter 4 or 5% to give it more of a realistic feel. However Capella needs to steep otherwise it ends up tasting burnt
Uuuugh, I wish I could find that goddamn thread! I'm sure people were talking about a certain cream going well with Peanut Butter, and it may have been specifically with FLV Peanut Butter that they meant, but, either way, I've not found that post yet, and I'm officially giving up and just going to try a few mixes without that particular set of training wheels.
But, yes, you are absolutely right; FW Hazelnut would work spectacularly here at around 1-2%. I feel like that stuff is becoming the Frank's Red Hot of most of my recipes, but, it's just so damn good in almost everything!

Good to know, thanks! I picked up some FLV Peanut Butter ages ago and then didn't really do anything with it. The more I read about it, the less likely it seems to fit this "simple, super-creamy peanut butter" juice that this guy loves. TFA seemed a much closer match to a creamy peanut butter, though I think my goal here is to use a bit of both, specifically the FLV PB at a low % to punch up the TFA.

After I linked it, went back and re-read all of it, and realized that it might not be incredibly helpful for you. So i tried google to find the answer you were actually looking for, and can't seem to find it either. But what I have found is plenty of examples of people enjoying TFA Peanut Butter without any creamy stuff added to it. Sounds like your friend will want something creamy though, especially if you're adding FLV to the TFA. If you discover or rediscover some wonderful PB cream pairing, I hope you'll share!
Flavourings.
Basically I've been into DIY for the past 2 months and unfortunately most of my mixes had to be dumped.
Few days ago I asked a question about VG in previous thread and someone told me I'm using way too much flavourings. They said the average is like 7-12%. I personally was making almost all of my mixes with 18-20%. So the question is what would be the best percentage of flavourings in the mix? Is it a flavouring specific measure?
It really depends on what brands you are using, and what you are trying to do. Unless it's a complicated recipe, mine rarely get above 12%. Higher percentages can actually mute the flavor. You just have to get to know each flavor, how it works in the mix, and where you want it to be.
Interesting. I have recently made a plain strawberry mix with TPA's Ripe CAP's Sweet Strawberry, 5% and 10% respectively. There was a strawberry taste but it wasn't too powerful.
I'm just trying to get my head around these percentages. If I made 2% Ripe + 3% Sweet Strawberry and added some Bavarian Cream, what would work better, 5% or 10% of BC, or maybe even 2%? Sorry for noob questions but this really struck my mind that I wasn't doing right proportions.
Again it depends on what flavouring (including company) as some are stronger than others, I've found Bavarian Cream to be quite strong so would advise a little lower, if you go on www.alltheflavors.com you can see the average % used for each flavour - I find this a good guide more often than not. Just keep on adjusting until you find what works for you.
I'm looking for some ideas on how store my equipment and flavours, I don't have the luxury of a great deal of space and the sweet tin is overflowing...
It's a bloody nightmare to find the flavour I want but I have no idea how I can make this any easier without any permanent 1x1 display, any suggestions?
I have all my liquids in plastic storage bins from Walmart. I get ya, it is a nightmare to search through all the liquids. I was thinking of making cardboard inserts to weave together to separate them.
I also took a microwave stand and converted that into a mixing station. The cupboards on the bottom hold flavors and 30ml bottles, while the space above holds PG/VG and Nic, towels, 15ml test bottles, scale and labels. Super convenient and it's on wheels. There is enough space underneath that I could buy a few more plastic drawers to separate flavors by brand later on.
I don't really know if this question is deserving of it's own thread or not so I will try here first.
About a week ago or so I was mixing up some grape eliquid from a recipe I found on elr - as I was getting the required flavorings out I came across my TFA Sassafras and gave it a sniff, then started to wonder if a grape/sassafras combo of some kind would taste good, then I came across my TFA Cola, and TFA Cola Syrup which to my nose smelled pretty similar to the sassafras.
Have any of you done much with sassafras, whats the difference between sassafras and the colas, what percentages work good I am guessing that about ~1.5-3% max is about right given how strong it smells. Does it pair well with fruits or is it supposed to be used for something else? Any and all answers , suggestions are welcome.
There are tons of different concentrates all with different uses and subtle differences and with each different use and subtle difference there are different thresholds for percentages you can use to get exactly what you want out of it.
It's all very open-ended and up to you in how you want to proceed. TFA however does list out a lot of the individual esters in their concentrates, I wasn't able to find any TFA Sassafras though, could it be FW Sassafras?
I have a question about mixing Max VG.
I have a PG sensitivity... so part of why I am taking the leap into mixing is so that I have greater control over the amount of PG I'm getting. I'm not really ready to start coming up with my own recipes... and realize that I'll need to tweak to my tastes anyway.
BUT! In general... if I find a recipe that is done as a 70VG/30, with (just to make it concrete) 10% PG based flavourings. Should I proportionally increase flavourings to some degree when transforming to a Max VG? I did see a tip in another thread about lowering for a 50/50 mix, but I'm not sure if the inverse would also be true!
I don't mix max vg so I can't give you a concrete answer. Plus, I'm sure the answer would be different for every recipe anyway. What I would do is mix a recipe at max vg that you want to try exactly like you see it then I'd mix another bottle at max vg with each ingredient increased by 25% (e.g. 5% of a flavoring increased by 25% would be 6.25% or 5 times 1.25). You can then get a good idea if mixing at max vg will require you to bump of the flavoring or not. Keep in mind that your recipes may take longer than usual to fully age since you are mixing at max vg.
Thanks... I will give that a try. Even before I was mixing I was buying juices with 85 or higher VG... so I'm used to flavours being more muted than when I started, but most (not all) the recipes I've found/mixed so far have been way more subtle than I'm used to even after a couple of weeks of steeping. Of course, they've probably all assuming 70/30.
I have PDO on order... I'm hoping I find I'm not sensitive to it the way I am to PG and won't have to worry about it anymore.
Does anyone have advice on a goto raspberry flavour, one that actually TASTES like those sweet, delicate, tart berries that I used to pick from my grandma's bushes that she had rows and rows of out back in her garden? I know, it's a tall order. I've tried Raspberry (sweet) TFA, but i'm not looking for a jammy raspberry here...
Also, does anyone have advice on a goto cherry flavour here? I'm looking for two types of cherries: the first one needs to taste like those big, purple cherries that come around the markets late July, early August and are so luscious, ripe and sweet that your tongue tingles with the first bite. The second one needs to taste like the cherries you get out of a can of ED Smith canned cherry pie filling. This is the pie filling that my mom used to use when she made her Cherry Cheesecake every Christmas. I'd like to find this so that I can develop a Cherry Cheesecake recipe and give several bottles of it to my sister for Christmas this year.
And yes, I've looked through the sidebar's Flavour Reviews, and I'm just more confused now than ever. Without having tasted the flavour beforehand, it's hard for me to understand just what the flavour reviews are talking about. I guess that's a limitation of mine. Besides, the Flavour Reviews don't have all the flavours up there yet, so I'm hoping that experience will go a long way in helping me. However, I DID use the Flavour Reviews to figure out my goto peach flavour...

INW Raspberry - use very low % or it will overpower everything.
Big Purple Cherries - FA Black Cherry use pretty low % or it will start to taste like medicine
Cherry Pie Filling - From what I've heard, RF Cherry Pie will get you the filling accurately but also comes with the crust, so it might take some work with graham flavors to make regular pie crust more like the traditional graham cracker crust along with adding cheesecake ingredients. There does not seem to be a crustless version of what you're describing.
I have found my Bane. Blueberries. I have a few blueberry flavorings and they all work great in certain situations, but I need help finding that artificial "purple" blue berry that is in Ice creams.
I have on hand, Cap Blueberry, Cap Blueberry Jam, FW blueberry, FW Blueberry and Graham Waffles, FA bilberry, TFA Blueberry Wild and TFA Blueberry Extra, hell I even have FW blue Raspberry.

I'm looking to get into mixing. For someone that is starting from scratch what should I do? Where is the best and the cheapest place to order from and what do I need? I already have some bottles saved up so I should be good on those but I have no clue what kind of stuff I will need.
I just started the process as well and have placed my first order for everything. I'd suggest watching DIYorDIE(Wayne) on YouTube. You don't really have to watch his live mixings videos right away, but I would look at all his flavor ones and he has a few beginner videos to get started. It really helped A TON and he gives you other places to get some more info and good places to order from.

Hi everyone! I've ordered everything already, and stuff is on its way to me. In the mean time, I'm thinking about my first few mixes. I've ordered some pure flavors to add to the mix, and also menthol and mint flavors, because I'm a menthol freak and I'd like to mix menthol liquids for the most part. Since I've read that menthol goes well with fruits, I've ordered some red apple, green apple, lemon and lime flavors to go with the menthol. I'm thinking, to start, I'll put 2% menthol and 5% of any of the fruits mentioned. I'm sure it'll suck the first few times so I'll make them in 10 ml batches to start. The question is, how much do I need to steep fruity flavors mixed with menthol and mint? Can I vape it right away? I'll go with the traditional steeping method, aka waiting and shaking.
Fruit flavors shouldn't need steeping, but it depends on the brand. What flavors are you ordering?
Well that's a problem, because I bought from a local manufacturer, since it's very difficult to get imported flavors in my country. He's quite popular though, he's got a good reputation since he's been doing this for over two years with excellent results so I'm not worried about the quality. Guess I'll have to do some trial and error at first.
That depends on the brands of fruit and menthol and mint flavors you purchased. Some are much stronger than others. As for the steeping, many of them you can vape right away, most will be better after a few days but they shouldn't need longer steeps like creams, custards, pastries, and tobaccos.
I searched around a little and wasn't able to find if anyone had got anywhere with a decent clove cigarette flavor eliquid. I've found a source for the Djarum Supers I used to smoke and I'll be ordering a pack for use as a comparison, but shipping is via slow boat and pack mule so they might be here for a Christmas eve smoke, but it seems unlikely unless I can find some in a local tobacco shop.
There are a couple different threads referencing clove cigs and Djarums on here. As this is pretty specific information, I would recommend you continue to browse those posts for recipes. I know there are a couple in there.
ELR does not seem to factor in the PG weight of flavorings, so it ends up being a direct 1:1 ratio, whereas Recipe Calc does. This results in 1g/ml using ELR, and 1.038g/ml using Recipe Calc. Might not be a huge difference to some, but I like being as accurate as possible, so I was wondering if anyone has any insight into this.
It's my understanding that most people publishing recipes use the 1:1 ratio. I'm pretty sure you can train juice calculator to do it too but I have like 75 flavors in there with the 1.038 or whatever value and fixing that would take like fifteen minutes so I just go by the ml value for weight on everything but vg when I use it.
Has anyone done a more elaborate study than this-works-well-for-me, on NET extracts? I'm really interested in doing this soon. Especially exquisite booze + fine cigars. What about ratios when steeping vs ratios in the juice? And is it possible to make it more of a concentrate?
Also, glass vs plastic bottles. I've used both in the past, and heard a couple arguments against plastic, like it permeates some of the nicotine, absorbs flavour and when fast steeping with heath (I do it all the time behind my ps4), bad particles might enter the juice. What are opinions on this? Edit: I already got a bunch of pharm grade glass bottles, as imho the anecdotes are pretty convincing and wide spread.
Finally, are there strong arguments against not doing fast steeping?

Glass = easy to reuse and clean, but are more expensive and a bit more of a pain to bring out of the house. Plastic = cheap enough to throw away after one use, easier to take out of the house with you, but sometimes hold flavors of the recipe that was in it. You can clean them to reuse, but they won't get as clean as when you boil glass bottles.

Can anyone advise me on something? I'm trying to come up with a cream cheese flavour as close as possible to Philadelphia Cream Cheese. I've never tried LO Cream Cheese Icing, but I was wondering if I combined it with, say, FLV Greek Yogurt with some TFA Cheesecake (Graham Crust) if that might approximate it. And yes, I've checked the flavour reviews, but there doesn't seem to be any mention of anything saying that something tastes like Philadelphia cream cheese. Philadelphia cream cheese has a very distinctive flavour, and it was one of the primary ingredient in the cheesecake my mom used to make around Christmas time. If the TFA Cheesecake imparts a graham wafer taste to the mix, that's okay because I'll be trying to add some graham wafer in there, anyway.

LA Cream Cheese Icing is very good, but it's icing. It's very sweet with just a little tiny bit of cheesy tang. Cheesecake Graham Crust is also yummy, but it's more crust than cheesecake (to me, some will disagree), like someone somehow accidentally inverted the normal cheesecake to crust ratio. I think your best bet is probably going to be Real Flavors Cheesecake, or maybe CAP NY Cheesecake. A very small amount of LA Cream Cheese Icing added to that CAP NY Cheesecake would probably be a good idea.

I agree about the CGC being mostly about the crust, rather than the cheesy part. I picked some up in my first order and like it very much, but I couldn't help but notice that it was like you said, somehow someone inverted the ratios between cheese and crust.
Now, you think that RF Cheesecake approximates that Philadelphia cream cheese taste most effectively? I'll pick some up in my next order, along with the cherry pie filling you were suggesting to me the other day. I'll pick up some of that LA Cream Cheese Icing, too.
I'm trying to approximate an old recipe my mother used to make for cheesecake every christmas. It's 1 package of Philadelphia cream cheese, one can of Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk, 1/4 cup of lemon juice. You mix all that together with a mixer until it's smooth and then pour it into a 9" baking tin lined with graham wafer crust (made with butter, sugar and crushed graham wafer crackers). You let it set outside in the cold for about an hour (or in the fridge, but we always used to set it outside on the back step in the snow; funny how the ways we used to do things become part and parcel of the sentimentality of the events themselves...). After it has set, you pour a can of ED Smith cherry pie filling on the top. Gawd - it is soooo good. Actually, it's just the same recipe inside the package of the Philadelphia Cream Cheese. That's where she got the recipe from. As a kid, my mom used to use RealLemon lemon juice for the recipe, you know that shit you buy in the plastic lemons? I like to use the juice of real lemons when I make it. NOT the same thing, even though people will tell you it tastes the same it.does.not.
So that's the recipe I'm trying to approximate with this new adventure. So I've got to find some real particular tasting flavours out there. All in all, I'm after:
CRUST:
- Graham Wafers (down pat with TFA Graham Cracker Clear + TFA Cheesecake Graham Crust)
- Butter (there's at least one butter flavour that I've seen. I'll have to try it out. don't know if there are more, but will research it)
CHEESECAKE: - Philadelphia Cream Cheese (thank you for your help today with this)
- Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk (I was thinking a largish amount of FA Fresh Cream, say 2% or 3%, but it requires something else that will deepen the flavour of the cream, make it taste thicker - not just in mouth feel, but in flavour. with my limited knowledge I was thinking possibly a very small amount of Bavarian Cream, say at .5% or .75%. I don't want the flavour of Bavarian Cream, just its thickness and deepening effect).
- Now why would I think about adding some FLV Greek Yogurt in there? Because Philadelphia Cream Cheese has a very strong cheese flavour that is kind of funky and kinda almost sour. FLV GY might be able, at a low percentage, to add this to the mix. I noticed in my Spiced Apricot Glaze recipe that the GY added a thickness to the recipe that I wasn't getting without it, and a bit of tang (not too much). When added to a lot of sweeter stuff it seems to really augment the other creams around it. I'll try it at about 1% and if I can't find the sweet spot for it, i'll dump it. Now, talk about sweet stuff brings me to...
SWEETENING
- This cheescake was REALLY sweet, as you can imagine with a whole can of Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk combined with a can of pie filling. But none of the flavours I've chosen so far are particularly sweet, except for the cheesecakes and possibly the Bavarian Cream. But it needs more, I'm sure of it. (So I was thinking possibly some Marshmallow or maybe even Toasted Marshmallow, which will both give some dense mouthfeel from what I read, too. Or maybe some FA Meringue, which I've already got.)
Since I'll only be making one order between now and Christmas, I'm going to have to make some decisions now quickly on what to purchase in this next order. And I'd really like to work on this recipe before Christmas because I'd like to give some to my sister as a gift. If I can get the Philadelphia cream cheese flavour down pat, then I'm sure I'll be able to produce the recipe in the way I'm hoping. That's what all these questions about cherry pie filling and philadelphia cream cheese have been about. The more I learn, the more recipes that pop up in my mind that I'd like to pull together. I know there are lots of very good cheesecake recipes out there that people have concocted. I've been vaping one myself these past couple of days (NOT a real winner in my books, actually). But that cheesecake recipe on the inside box of the philadelphia package is a very unique tasting mouthful that I'd like to be the first one to recreate. I'd be very happy with myself if I could accomplish that. I'm already proud of my Spiced Apricot Glaze Over Ice Cream recipe. But now it's time to move onto a new recipe!

I haven't tried RF Cheesecake yet, that was based solely on everything I've heard about it. I'm happy with CAP NY Cheesecake for most of my cheesecake needs but now that I have a clearer picture of what you're going for, I think CAP NY not going to cut it for your delicious no-bake cheesecake. Your plans for the crust and sweetened condensed milk sounds great to me. LA Cream Cheese Icing could certainly help you with the sweetness. Rather than adding an actual straight up butter flavor, you might take a look at CAP Butter Cream... It's actually not like butter cream icing, it's more like just butter & sugar creamed together. So it would help with both the butteryness and the sweetness.
This isn't exactly a mixing question, but what do you guys do to maximize flavor when vaping? Specific tanks/RDA's? Stuff like that. Thanks!
Besides what has been stated, sometimes bumping your PG up another 5-10% (depending where you're at currently) can bring out more flavor. Another thing might be turning up your temp/wattage to bring certain tastes out too, just be careful not to burn your wicks.
RDAs are generally considered best for flavor. Some RTAs would rank higher than most RDAs but at the end of the day this is subjective. Subohm tanks are on the bottom in the flavor rankings.

Help me out guys I'm new to mixing!
I'd like to make a Watermelon Menthol eliquid for my pops and have some questions on my projected recipe. Are the Brandless Menthol Liquid Concentrate and Koolada Liquid Concentrate from ECX acceptable, or are there better alternatives on ECX? Here is the recipe I was thinking of, please critique:
TFA Watermelon 6%
Menthol Liquid Concentrate 0.5%
Koolada Liquid Concentrate 0.5%
I would leave out the koolada at first. .5 menthol is a good start, will be noticeable but light. Work up the menthol by half percents if desired, stuff's strong.
Koolada is weird to me, coolness without the menthol flavor. And just like menthol, work up slowly with it.
In light of a recent thread or two on the sinus relieving benefits of vaping eucalyptus, what would be a good Sinus Relieving Eliquid? How does this sound?

I already made the Green Tea Kit Kat and it is steeping. Not a shake and vape because it taste like flowers for some reason. The green tea taste more like Jasmine?? Anyways thank you to everyone who helps me out!
Please post this on the weekly suggest a recipe thread. It is on the front page. Though you could play around with the FW Fruit Rings and Meringue. Add a touch of marshmallow and you will have a decent fruit loops vape. I would give you some percentages, though to become a better mixer, you need to play with your flavors. If you post this on the suggest a recipe thread, you will get some experienced mixer to help you with some recipes in the mean time.
Not exactly a new mixer question but probably not worthy of a thread... Took delivery of an order today and had 10ml of TFA Bitter Nut Extra thrown in that I didn't order, probably a mistake. I can't really find out much about it, anyone have any experience with it?

I'm struggling to find good flavourings that are used in a lot of recipes. Right now I have:
TPA Sweet Strawberry CAP Banana Split TPA Lemon TPA Dragonfruit TPA menthol.
I'm looking to add 4 flavours that would open me up to a few recipes. I also plan on getting koolada at the same time.
Does anyone have some general go to flavours I should get ? I'm hoping to be able to try 3-4 recipes in a very short future.

Right now I'm just doing single flavor batches just to see what I like. I did a 10ml batch of (TFA) Ripe Strawberry at 8% After a good shake and water bath I tried it and while it smelled great it tasted pretty bad. I know it hasn't steeped but I thought it would just taste muted. Will it go away in time? Did I use too low/high of a percentage? Is it just a bad batch?
Skip the water bath.
8% is at the high end but within the limits. This is a flavor that some people struggle with. Try it again at 5% without nicotine, just shake it up and vape it right away, see if it's any different. If it's still bad, you should look for another brand. If it's good, you may want to check your nic.
Should you really leave the cap off for a bit? And is that just the cap or the nib/spout too? If so is there any point doing it a few days after it's been mixed? Thanks!
Can you shake too much?
A fairly odd question but to aid in the steeping process a couple of shakes of the bottle each day is recommended normally. When I shake it for a good 10 seconds there are an absolute ton of bubbles appearing, is this the sign of a good steeping shake? A sign of an over-shake? Or a sign that something else has gone wrong?
what are your opinion on the new blended flavourings that are being sold now?
i diy'd for a while, but due to education i just dont have the time/effort/resources to mix my own recipes up, not that i was very good at it anyway.
anyway im from the uk, i recently got back into diy, but when i went on the website i always ordered from theyve started selling these 'kandi-head' flavourings that are blended (not individual flavours, instead of ripe strawberry its a ready mixed strawberry custard) i felt the need to explain that because i went on DIY or DIE's stream and asked him and he didnt know what i was on about, even though he sells his recipes that way haha i must of used the wrong terminology.
i tried 5 of them, i only really enjoy 2 of them, do you guys get them? do you think the suppliers really put the effort into them? im going to try 5 more and if i like some of them enough i think im just going to stick with them.
The term you're looking for is a flavor base. If you enjoy it, if it works for you, it's all good. Quality will naturally vary just as with any commercial juice.

eeeh i wouldn't. i've never heard of them and i can't find anything related to other people using it for vaping. there's a generally recognized list of vendors and manufacturers... how do yall keep coming up with these random oddball manufacturers and then researching after you've bought them?
bottom line, i wouldn't use it. here is a list of verified vendors that we commonly order from.

I hadn't found this subreddit until a few days after and now I have the info needed. But, I'm still curious how the flavors of verified vendors are being made and if they provide similar information like the Safety Data Sheets that I found with my purchase.

i'm too new at this to unequivocally tell someone "don't vape that!" based off my own limited experience but if i see someone that says they're new and posting about something i haven't seen here and nothing comes up googling in general or site googling this subreddit about it i'll try to convince them not to.
Wholesale Supplies Plus sells soaping supplies for the manufacture of soaps, lotions, creams, etc. Crafter's Choice is a brand of soaping supplies. I know this because I'm a soapmaker by trade and I've bought from them. Crafter's Choice products are pretty good elements for building up a nice, thick, creamy lather in your soap - but not vapable at all. This shit is so strong and toxic if ingested that you have to call a poison control if you accidentally ingest it or get it in your eyes. Not much of a problem if you get most of their products on your hands - but that's not the same as breathing it in from an atomizer.Wow! If only their scents (as they are called, not flavours) WERE vapable... I've got litres and litres of the shit in my soaping closet. I closed down my soaping business last year and have tons left. Care to purchase a few litres off me? I've got Satsuma, Mango Madness, White Shadow and a host of yummy sounding scents if you're in the business of buying this stuff. But you've got to promise me one thing: You'll use it for soapmaking and NOT for vaping!

Hey, I also have a TON of incredible Micas from Nurture Soap (she can check them out if she doesn't know them already, but she probably does) that I purchases JUST before going out of business. Most of them are 4 oz (which is a lot). Purples, blues, reds, oranges, chocolate brown, green, etc, etc. They are absolutely beautiful in soap, incredible, really. Ask her is she's willing to purchase them. I'd love for them to go to a good home rather than wasting space on my shelves and going nowhere fast...
I'm making mint chocolate chip by /u/ENYAWREKLAW and the last 2 batches have tasted a lot harsher than normal and the mint really isn't coming through.
I don't use nicotine and I'm not doing anything differently than I was before, I mix by weight.
Can anyone suggest why this might be? Do PG/VG/Flavourings go bad when oxidised in the same was as nic?
EDIT: It smells as it does normally and I've been vaping lots of other stuff in-between so it's not olfactory fatigue.

How were they stored and for how long?
Nope. They are stored in a plastic tub and generally kept in a cupboard at a stable heat.
Could be separation, here's what it can look like but since most concentrates are clear, you usually can't see it. Shake those bottles before use!
Other than that I'd just guess age. If they've been sitting in that tub for ages they might have lost potency or maybe even reacted with the plastic if you're not using glass bottles. Or oxidized, sure. Tons of variables apply that only you can account for.
